I dunno, but All Star Survivor gave 2 million (I think) to it's winner--so whoever wins should get a boat load of money.

I've started to see a lot of promos for this show on FOX. Looks like a cross between The Benefactor and TAR. Biggest prize in reality show history?

Sir Richard Branson, the colorful founder and Chairman of the Virgin Group of Companies, teams with award-winning Bunim-Murray Productions (The Simple Life, Real World) to lead a group of young entrepreneurs on an epic journey around the world, testing their mettle by having them relive some of his own colorful adventures. If they make decisions that impress Branson, they will continue. But each week, one candidate will be left behind on the tarmac as the rest of the group jets off to the next adventure.
Source: FOX

2-hour premiere Nov 9, the show will air Tuesdays on FOX in November after the World Series is done (until American Idol starts in January)

12. "Webby? Summaries?"
SB, this was on your list of possible show summaries this fall, and I believe it starts tonight. Are we going to do summaries or is there not enough interest? Is there a sign up thread I haven't found?

I am willing to a summary or two on this show, including the Premiere tonight but time is the issue. I am up to my eyeballs in a Trade Show aftermath thing all week and won't even have time to watch the durn show until Sunday. So if I do the first ep (because no one else wants it) it won't be posted until Monday.

Let me know, okay? In fact, maybe I'll just copy this whole post & email it to you because tonight is coming up pretty darn fast.

I'm getting the feeling that Sir Dicque Branson is just too smooshie for this type of elimination show. Seems like a nice enough guy, but he's freakin' crazy, man!

I like the first scared girl. Didn't like Candida. That second elimination kind of sucked.

This show definitely has some hair-raising moments, but I would have liked Sir Dicque to explain his choices from a business perspective in more detail.

with both Frisky and IceCat... this show has a lot of great potential and I'd like to see Sir Dicque explain a little more about what these uber-challenges have to do with actually running a business, but whoa, what a concept!

It sure makes the Apprentice look like a kindergarten recess romp by comparison. Loved the mocking of The Donald at the beginning when the 'fake Donald' came up in a limo while Sir Dicque drove up in a taxi.

That? was a brilliant move by Sir Dicque to pretend to be a taxi driver and guage the behaviour of the contestants. You want to run a company? You got to treat people well right from the beginning, no matter who they are.

I was looking forward to this show, but what a dissapointment.
The audio was so bad that I just couldn't enjoy the show at all.
I have never watched a show that had constant loud background music. I honestly had a hard time hearing the contestant talk(most of the time at least).
If the Audio is the same in the next episode, then I'm done with the show.

Did anyone else have a hard time with the Audio?

No, I had no problem with the audio. As a matter of fact, I don't really remember any background music while the peeps were talking!

Also, keep in mind that some of the audio was taken while 10,000 feet off the ground on top of a hot air baloon and a plane in flight! You can't studio production audio while standing on the wings of a moving plane!

I loved the show.....some freaky stuff.

Loved Dicque wearing the mask posing as the taxi driver....he could a feel of some true colors of people.

What a feat, walking across a beam that high up!!! And then for the losers to have to ascend 150 ft on a rope ladder. Totally surprised Sara made it up there---that gained her a lot of respect with Dicque.

The shopping spree/innovative idea was a little boring, but loved the twist of should they/shouldn't they see the Buddha.

The plane thing was pretty freaky...good going girls!

I couldn't help but think this show was a mixture of Apprentice, Fear Factor and Amazing Race. Maybe that's what intrigues me.

I hope there is enough interest in this show on the boards to get our very own subject section!!!!

I agree. I thought it was a combination of those shows too. I love the travel part of it. And the execution actually reminded me of Outback Jack. On that show they were always ready to move on and the booted person or people would not get on the plane, boat, horse, etc.

What a terrible show - the premise is ALL wrong and there's too much blah, blah, blah.

What's next - bear wrestling?

Please. Looks like another Apprentice knock off.

Also, I don't care if these "stunts" are death defying - haven't these type of stunts/events been done to death (ha!)? How many times are we going to see someone walk a tight-rope or skinny bridge and still be amazed? Not me.

Call me when they decide to walk a tight rope in space or on the moon - SOMETHING.

And the stunt for next week...?! Going over Victoria Falls in a barrel? That hardly seems run of the mill to me.

...then you must not have seen Bunin-Murray's other show, Real World/Road Rules challenge cause they did the exact same "walking from one balloon to the other" challenge a couple of years ago.

And the standing on the plane thing was done on RR/RR challenge a few years back as well, only they didn't have to pass a baton between two people, instead it was just one person getting out of the plane and hooking herself up to the top wing.

Fair enough, shakes. I don't have cable so I miss a lot. Plus, I extended RB's statement about nobody ever having done the tea on top of a balloon challenge to mean *everything* involved with the balloon was completely new. I guess I read too much into that statement.

All the same, I'm still looking forward to the barrel and Victoria Falls.

Even if some of the challenges are recycled, I still appreciate seeing the boss do them along with the contestants. What I wouldn't pay to see Trump strapped to the top of a bi-wing with that hair-nest-thing flapping in the breeze.

For me, the barrel thing is even more dull than the balloons (throw in some electric eels and then we'll talk).

I've been asking myself for years now, how many times can a viewing public watch people do stuff like this (that's been done before or similar things) - over and over and over again before nobody cares? I guess it still stuns me that anyone does or perhaps I'm too jaded from shows like and similar to Fear Factor.

unit, I think it is obvious from your posts that this show and maybe some of the other reality shows that most of us watch aren't for you.

I personally don't see how anyone can watch the hot air balloon challenge and think that it is boring! Even if the challenge has been done before doesn't make it boring to me.

So, I take it from your posts that you don't watch any type of second season to most of the reality shows? Right? Because, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Real World, Road Rules...well hell, just look to your left...all those shows are the samething over and over just different people involved.

What types of shows do you like? Do you like Drama? Just curious.

Hello Vols,

If I haven't made myself clear, I think that all aspects of this show stink (not just the stunts).

I also don't see the relevance of your "most of us" watch comment as well as the comments about 2, 3, 4 seasons.

Currently, I'm watching ANTM3, The Apprentice, (starting today) The Amazing Race, and Survivor (although I really wish I weren't).

Dramas are good but Thrillers are better. I can appreciate soap opera drama as long as it isn't "staged" and for that matter anything that appears to be staged gets a thumbs down for me.

The real downside of this show is that it is on FOX and it is produced by those fakers Bunim and Murray. That is two big strikes against this show, but I like Richard Branson. He seems way too cool of a guy for this reality genre, but as a marketing strategdy for the "Virgin" Brand it should prove to be a successful marketing gimmick.

I found it interesting that Branson eleminated people so soon. Branson is a entertaining bloke with huge ones to do his own stunts. I give that woman who sells tights a lot of credit for going to the top of the ballon when she's already scarred of heights.

I was reminded of The Benefactor when Richard immediately made eliminations based on his first impressions of the contestants. It was a cool show though. The Benefactor, The Apprentice, and Fear Factor rolled into one. Kudos to Sara for making it to the top of the balloon when she's terrified of heights. I would never be able to do that. I'd probably puke and then pass out.

Rebel Billionaire first episode was an eye-opener. I can't wait when they go to outer-space and experience zero-gravity. Honestly, I would get chills doing those challenges, but I wouldn't back out. If someone handed me an opportunity to do those stunts for free, I would gladly accept it. They travel world wide, they do far-out stunts, they get rewarded and in the very end, the winner becomes the President and wins a million and probably even more.

The show combine the task of Apprentice, adventure traveling of Amazing Race, extreme stunts of Fear Factor, and a bit of the alliance strategy and social dynamics of Survivor.

Rebel Billionaire Bronson needs to get a hair-cut. He also needs to edit his show better. I can barely hear some of the conversation. The show somehow doesn't have as much human interaction compared to other RS program. He also doesn't explain why he fired his first 3rd contestant. I think he kept the lady, because he got kiss by her.

For a few minutes there, I was upset that it was benefactoresque, then it got really interesting, and shocking.

I loved the balloon stunt, I don't know if I could have done that...but imagine having that as a story to tell your friends and family...."I drank tea with a billionaire at 5,000 feet in the air, on top of his hot air balloon".. WOW !!!

I just hope it's not going to be all air-related stunts, cause that would be lame.
That going over the waterfall...I think I would loose my cookies just at the thought of gettting inside that.
It's one thing to think about doing it, it's another to be standing near a waterfall being asked to be dropped a couple hundred feet into the water..
Branson is definitely unique.

Some quirky business projects would be good.

Okay I liked the show but felt it was more a Discovery Channel challenge show than a "reality" show. The production values are dicey but the concepts of challenging oneself and pushing limits is a great idea but its not the Apprentice and not a job interview. But then is the Apprentice really a "job interview"?

More and more businesses are seeking entrepenuers and often in line with that is the idea that risk takers - aka thrill seekers are ones who push limits further. Popular on the business speaking circuit are those who climb Everest and participate in extreme sports. There is something that appeals to the idea that those who take risks are out of the box thinkers and can be both individauls while still functioning in teams as needed.

I like the show, I like Branson preferably as a leader/manager and think that the idea of the show is good just placed into a genre that isn't applicable.

Olympic...

Don't get too excited to see the contestants in outer space any time soon. Yes Mr. Branson has invested in Spaceship One, and yes Virgin Atlantic will be offering trips to space for $100,000 to $200,000, but these people are not going to space for free. The scenes of "zero gravity” are filmed right here in the Earth's atmosphere. They take a stripped out airliner and do power dives with it. The people inside experience zero gravity for a while, then the plane pulls up and they do it all over again. (It’s like skydiving in a pressurized airplane)

Outer space no, still very fun, yes.

Missed the first hour, and thought the second was terrible. Bad editing... we didn't get to see ANY of the initial Erika vs all the other girls fight... confessionals in front of a blue screen??!
Branson's hosting abilities are like a terrible combination of Amhad Rashad and William Shatner. No charisma. "A little twist, the men's leader, will have to, lead, the women's team, and the womem's, leader, will have to, lead, the, men's team." "Will have to?" Nobody HAS to do anything, you ass. And I'm pretty sure I heard him say "so if you could go into a huddle" TWO times. WTF!

Challenge(s)... I didn't see it how they did it with the balloons, but what was the point of that airplane thing? Fail and you both go home, succeed and I decide who goes? Why have a challenge at all? And the "what should I offer my airline passengers" one, that was just dumb. I wonder how much thought went into that one.

This show sucks.

I agree about the hokiness of the blue screen diary sessions.

Does anyone have any idea why all the contestants are American when he is in Britain? Or am I mistaken?

Well, I don't think the show sucks because the hot air balloon challenge was much better than the airplane challenge IMHO! I agree with you though about how the airplane challenge panned out...lose and you both go home but do it and I will determine who goes home.

Also, the Erika against everyone else thing came about during the traveling challenge. I think each team had one camera crew following them. The guy that was the manager of the women went with one of the girls while the others went their own way. The camera went with the manager and the other lady. I think that is why we didn't see the actual argument.

Branson's hosting abilities are far better than the Donald! At least Branson has an interesting personality that you want to get to know better and Branson is out there doing these things with the contestants!

Nah, I like the Donald way more. Part of the reason the Apprentice is so popular is that even if people don't like the guy, they know who he is and can watch and gauge his actions with regard to their perception of him. I know virtually nothing about Branson, so to me he's just an upper-class Brit who also happens to be a daredevil.

Well, I think I know both men fairly well. I do like Branson better and I like him as a businessman far better than Trump! The best Trump has ever been on TV was when he hosted SNL! That show was a hoot!

i'm watching and liking it. sure, wtf do stunts have to do w/ business? well, who cares? it's not like the crap the donald makes those ppl do really mean anything, either. everything is random, and these have more entertainment value. at least to me.

i'm watching, i'm liking, and i'd do a summary if we started that up.
