geekboy 1778 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Herbal Healing Drugs Endorser" 08-04-04, 10:04 AM (EST) "Is it just me, or ..." Is it just me, or do you also think this show looks incredibly staged? When i started to see the promos earlier this year, i had that thought, and now watching the actual show, it just screams to me that this is completely staged. The scene in the SUV where she was telling the guy he needs a new car, the bowling with the dad being an ##### to his son, its just not realistic. I work with children and have seen my good share of obnoxious parents who don't parent their children just verbally abuse them. This guy doesn't parent his children, he uses sacarism and verbally attacks his son. Nothing seems real interms of how the adults act, what they say, etc. If thrown into that situation, i don't think anyone would naturally act the way these adults are acting. I've had water thrown on me when I didn't wake up. I've seen teachers at schools saying things to students along the lines of "This isn't Special Olympic Bowling." I guess what stands out to me is how these lines/phrases are delivered, and the interactions between the people. it is simply not natural. I don't think it's staged; What I was really thinking last night was, that much wasn't going on and it seemed like there were ALOT of commercial breaks. I think not much happens and the editing is bad, that's all. I don't feel that it's staged and I will agree it's probably the editing. I did feel that perhaps the bowling and beach outing were suggested because the lack of anything going in the houses. The California dad was really getting on my nerves. I did't feel he was making any attempts to make his new "wife" feel at ease. LAST EDITED ON 09-24-04 AT 08:27 PM (EST) I disagree with you. The whole idea with reality tv is to put people in certain situations where they would not be in under normal circumstance. By virture of cameras ,lights and microphones, the situation is not as it would be in normal life. Now after we except all of this, as those on the show do, the reactions we see as ;I believe, more often then not are genuine. The situations are staged as they are in all reality tv shows,but they are done so to get genuine reactions. I watch for the reactions.
