I can' find a thread for john stevens, so i'll start one myself. Why is this boring talentless kid still in this competition. Even he knows he doesn't belong anymore. He looked like he was about to cry when he didn't get into the bottom three last week when Amy went. It's rediculous. He's boring, flat, non-descript and completely without talent. I was rooting for him in the beginning, saying "just give him another shot or two, we've heard him sing wonderfully" but now, he's had his shot(s), and its time for him to go the way of the dinosaurs. John Stevens, Old Blue Eyes you are not!

Finally!!!! I'm still in shock that he wasn't in the bottom 3...what's up with that????? He has blown it everytime he has perform...JMHO. All I can say is that he is one of the luckiest person out there. He is only surviving on the tween votes...certainly not on talent. I also think he knows it. People stop voting with your heart and vote for talent!!!!

I have to agree with the majority here, he's terrible. He sings too quietly, he has no personality, and when he tries to act like he does it comes off looking very forced and fake. He acts like an 80 year old,maybe he spends too much time with his GrandParents and not enough time with kids his age, but I think it's much more realistic to see him singing in a nursing home than it is to think of him selling an album. Just my opinion.

I don't think it's fair to say that the majority dislikes John. Clearly as one of only 4(?) who haven't yet been in the bottom three, people are voting for him. I really like John's voice. I know that others don't, but I sure am tired of hearing people attack him. That's getting old.

your nuts, he couldn't clean Frank's or Dino's or anybody elses
dirty underpants. His voice is very flat, he's completely Atonal. While it's refreshing to hear someone young emulate great singers he has no range and no strength to his voice. They should stick a mirror in front of his mouth to see if this kid is alive. I've never seen a more comatose 16 year old. His 90 year old grandparents have more energy than him. He seems like a nice kid with an old time voice but he's got to go.

Oh, so its YOUR fault he keeps getting through? The only thing I agree with there is that his voice stands out, but in my opinion, it doesnt stand out in a good way. It stands out as the one who doesnt deserve to make it that far! He has a nice tone to his voice, but it sounds like a droning lullaby on old fashioned tapes. He would probably deserve to be in the top 32 if he had been taking voice lessons since he was ten. So i agree with most that he is terrible.

Elton John saw that no talent smuck survive last week and saw three good Black performers end up in the bottom three and one good one get booted and racism immediately came to his mind as an explanation. Ryan Seacrest said that was one of many explanations for last week's results,including a power outage in Chicago.

I actually like John Stevens and his voice. I think he's very immature and is not a performer yet. I'm not sure he'll ever be a pop style singer. He needs voice lessons, more practice and some confidence. I think he also is fully aware that he should no longer be in the competition.

I agree, popcorn. John Stevens has the POTENTIAL to be a decent singer. He's what? 16? 17? He's not even physically mature yet, his voice will continue to mature on its own. Add voice lessons, performance skills, and lots of practice, and you've got a nice singer!He won't be ready in time for this competition, though.

They are the ones who placed Leah LaBelle (chosen by Paula over Lisa Leuschner and Susan Vulaca), Jon Peter Lewis (obviously pimped as the dark horse winner), John Stevens (obviously liked by Simon Cowell), and others who don't really belong there.As for John Stevens, I wanted to start a bash forum then but I felt threatened since he got many supporters here. Everyone is mentioning his "potential" and the fact that he's 16 or 17. What does age have to do with it? I've heard younger and better junior singers on Star Search! His age is irrelevant. If he truly had real talent it would be surfacing now...and it ain't happening. At best, he can carry a tune (sometimes). He has no range and no power in his voice. I cringe when he sings. He's never gonna be a Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick or Michael Buble. I don't care whether you like him or not. As a person, he's probably a good kid. So what?!? I agree he's probably getting the majority of his votes from an extreeeemly young viewing audience (or tone deaf people!) Stop voting for this likable, but untalented kid! Sheesh, enough already.

I had to laugh... as if I don't know who Tony Bennett is. He may have said this about himself, but the proof is in the pudding. Go back and listen to his early recordings, or any of his recordings before the age of SEVENTY, and tell me he didn't sound great! The only truth here is that his voice only improved with age. He had a voice to begin with.

As someone who lives with a voice teacher, I can assure you that significant progress is typically made after the age of 16 for most singers, particularly male ones. After all, once they've gotten through the voice change, it takes a while to learn how to work with their new instrument.I've followed a number of voice majors through their collegiate studies, and there have been quite a few that went from being completely unimpressive freshman that no one would want to listen to for very long to being accomplished, talented, polished performers. OK, let's assume your "qualified" opinon is correct, and this young man's vocal abilities improve over time. I wager that it won't be over the course of the few shows left in this American Idol season. I still assert that his CURRENT vocal abilities are pale and outclassed by the likes of Latoya London (current fav), George Huff (nerdy as he is... and please stop bobbing up and down), Jennifer Hudson (albeit loud gospel warble), and Fantasia Barrino (other current fav). If he wins this competition (which I highly doubt) I will never tune into this show again. Elton John called it right when he referred to the fact that Latoya London ended up in the bottom three the week before. I don't remember his exact words, but it had to do with his dismay and skepticism regarding the way the viewing audience was voting. The next night Seacrest even asked the judges if they felt that the voters were going for personality over performance. They thought personality. Given the fact that John remains, I have to concur. Futhermore, to think that a talent like Amy Adams got cut while John is still there, is a travesty in my opinion. Her commanding vocals on "Power of Love" alone should have secured her place in the finals. There, I'm through with my rant. LOL.

I know alot of people think that this kid is truly awful. I for one do not. I think he has a smooth, unique style and sound. He is young, and with time he will only improve. Do I think he will win American Idol? NO, nor do I think he deserves it, but I just don't think he is as awful as every one thinks. Obviously, others don't either, since he was not in the bottom group last night.All that being said, I am very intersted in purchasing the AI3 CD that will be released on Tuesday, just so I can hear his track. I have a feeling, I may just like it.

I think if you've read through this thread fully, you'd see that it isn't only teenagers who are voting for John. In fact, several of us here on this board that are, unfortunately, well beyond our teen years, like John's voice. That you don't is fine, but perhaps you could read what the posters around here have to say before making insistent speculations about John's fans. I noticed that you started a new thread bashing John Stevens and JPL. We do try to keep contestant bashing threads limited to one thread per contestant. That's so that new posters have a chance to read what everybody else is saying and contribute their own opinions to the discussion.

I think BOTH Johns suck and both should be booted from the show immediately. It's totally obvious that the only reason either one of them is getting votes is because they're the two "cute" guys on the show, no matter if it's grannies doing the voting or teen girls. Because anyone with any sort of hearing can tell they they both suck (or are very very average, if you want to put it nicely), especially compared to the people who really CAN sing.It's embarrasing and it's the same phenomenon that happened last year with Josh Grayson, who stunk up the competition WELL after he should have gotten the boot.

Obviously, the only reason why John keeps making it is because he's cute ... to some people! I personally think that it's also his red hair. It stands out! Just like his voice, but his voice stands out in a bad way to me. If the judges thought that John Stevens was better than SCOOTER GIRL, then we need new judges!! BRING BACK SCOOTER GIRL!!

I was listening to the MJ Morning Show out of Tampa Florida today and MJ urged all of his listeners and all of those listeners listening to other Clear Channel stations and shows to vote for John Stevens so that he would win and in winning completely destroy American Idol's credibility. His thinking was that if the purpose of the show is to discover and promote new talent and the show results in someone like John Stevens winning,then people will be so disgusted with the show knowing that it is a piece of s**t that the show will get cancelled. If his plan worked,John Stevens will survive tommorow night and the show will be one more step closer to imploding.

If that isn't good enough for you, don't vote for him, but I think that the name calling is VERY juvenille. Can't you just say that you don't like the way he sings and leave it at that?
