LAST EDITED ON 02-15-05 AT 11:58 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 02-15-05 AT 11:57 AM (EST) Am I the only one wondering why the Magna team was bending over backwards to kiss the butt of that pouting actress? Yes, they were late - and they apologized for that - but then she kept on ranting about it. THEY were the ones hiring HER! Why didn't they remember that?!? At some point, the conversation should have gone this way: "Excuse me Miss...I'm sorry, what's your name again? Oh yes, here it is...'Random Chick With Head Shot,'.. but last I checked, WE are the ones hiring YOU, not the other way around. We're putting together a national ad campaign - something that is major exposure to someone whose head shot we just pulled from a rather large pile at an ad agency.
Now, we've apologized for being late, and it's time to move on. If you're still upset and need more coddling than that, we'll gladly pull another random photo from the pile, give the job to another actress, and you can go back to your waitressing gig at Applebee's. The choice is yours." I wish one of them would have stepped up and said that instead of letting the help run the show!!!

Said actor was making drama for the sake of getting her face on camera.Bren was 'calming her down' just to show the camera and us that he is good at dealing with conflict. BTW, she never planned on going anywhere. Personally, I just saw two DAWS hamming it up for the camera. Nothing more, nothing else. Just my $0.02

Exactly what I thought. What did he** freeze over and New York run out of actresses? I don't think so! I would have fired her on the spot. Hardly any shoots go perfectly on time.

No, shoots don't usually go on time, but ANYONE with an ounce of experience in the business will tell you that you never treat your talent like that. I'm not defending her. I think actors are, on the whole, fairly obnoxious spoiled people. But firing talent the day, no less the hour of the shoot, is always a huge problem, no matter what you're making.

In this case, time was off the essences, so to speak.Yeah, she was a diva, and more importantly, works with the best ad guy (well, according to the show) every day. So she has a right to be a diva. But, if they had another day to hire another actress, do so. I understand its cold and they were waiting an hour and a half, but serious. Your not professional enough to carry a cell phone and call team Magna asking them if you have the right address and when they are going to be there? So, basically, its both of their faults. Oh well.

>>Your not professional enough to carry a cell phone and call team Magna asking them if you have the right address and when they are going to be there?<<Magna couldn't call the place they KNEW the actors were & tell them they'd be late? THAT's not only unprofessional, it's incredibly rude. And I mean in ANY profession, not just showbiz. And I'm sure the actors verified that they were at the right place. The Apprentice camera crew was there, wasn't it? It's not the responsibility of the person WHO IS EXACTLY WHERE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE, EXACTLY WHEN THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE to call the other party begging for an update. Magna was in the wrong here. What if those actors had passed up or rescheduled other appointments to make it there by 4? What if the whole shoot was only supposed to take 2 1/2 or 3 hours, so they all expected to be done & on the way to dinner by 6:30-7:00 instead of just starting the shoot? Or done and on their way to other auditions/meetings? If Magna had called AT OR BEFORE the 4:00 call time to say, basically, "so sorry, some delay, can't start 'til 6:30," the actors probably would have been totally fine -- "cool, now I can pick up my stuff from the printers & stop at the drugstore & call for that appointment & grab a sandwich." And I seriously doubt that: 1. the money was anything to brag about 2. the recognition or face time was on any of their minds After all, they were not being booked for a national ad, they were being booked to be part of a task on a reality show. Their names were never used, and the 'ads' were hardly a good showcase of any actor's talent. I can't believe any of them thought it would be any more than a couple bucks for a couple hours' work. Don't be so ready to lay a diva label on that woman. Wouldn't you be ticked off if someone was almost 2 hours late for a business appointment with no call, no explanation? Wouldn't you be thinking about all the other things you could be doing? Just because someone's an actor, it doesn't mean they're a DAW. And just because someone's an actor, it doesn't mean they don't deserve to be treated with professionalism and respect. One of my favorite quotes is "It's called Show Business, not Show Walk-In-The-Park." People IN the business understand this -- both Magna, who screwed up the schedule, and Kristin (who treated her actors like props) don't.

Actually in the hierarchy of advertising it's the agency or client that needs to be pleased. The ones actually *spending* the boatloads of money *not* the many that get paid to work the shoot. Not people who are auditioned and who are listed on a call sheet as: girl #1And actors are ALWAYS on and looking for face time that is what they do. Unless it's an A list actor and/or their personal involvement hinges on the project being made they are replaceable. And the actors we saw were not James Earl or Catherine Zeta, they were just regular Jones'. If extras and commercial actors were powerful enough in the industry there would be no term like casting couch. I am not in any way defending these bozo teams by the way ....

Besides Chris the weirdo, this also is symptomatic of a directorial ploy. There are divas and prima donnas and we all know their calibre. However, this "actress" is very amateur and mediocre, IMO. She doesn't strike me as a pro. Divas earn the right (if it is a right) to be one because they worked to get to that status. That amateur in Magna's failed semi-porn ad has a long way to go before she can even be elevated to an actress status, let alone, that of a diva. Oh well, if nothing else, she definitely got more than her 15 minutes.

After all, they were not being booked for a national ad, they were being booked to be part of a task on a reality show.Yes - a NATIONAL REALITY SHOW that will give them more airtime and recognition than a Dove Body Wash ad would. Being IN the ad would have just doubled their exposure, IMHO. Now as far as Magna being rude - yes, it was rude and unprofessional of them to not call, but once they apologized that should have been the end of it. And frankly, while time was of the essence, Magna had at least two women who were far more attractive than that actress - they could have easily filled in for her if need be.

11. "So What?" |
>>Now she has had 10+ million people see her!<<So what? Who is she? What's her name? What's her background? How do I get in touch with her agent so I can hire her? 'Cause WOW, the way she washed that cucumber...what a performance! (that's sarcasm) With all due respect to the above posters & their right to their own opinions... I can't imagine any actor thinking "Gosh, if I act really angry here, I might get more jobs from it!!" Getting angry doesn't EVER get you acting jobs -- sometimes it can LOSE you jobs -- so you only get angry when you need to -- you never throw a random fit. Looking the right way, having some talent, and being easy to work with GETS you jobs (and probably in that order). And baby, if you're an actor, it is ALL about getting JOBS, not getting ATTENTION. Attention is great ONLY if it leads to more jobs -- otherwise it's just a pain. She was genuinely angry (and I don't blame her), not trying to get face-time. That kind of 'face time' is more likely to hurt than to help. (And truly, I am speaking from experience.)

My reaction to the editing was that the producers must have really been aggravated with the actress, because they emphasized her "diva" moment and didn't show her doing anything that showcased any acting ability or on-set professionalism. They made her out to be an untalented biotch waitress with unreachable dreams. If the point was just to show how oily and smarmy Bren could be, they could trimmed her out and devoted those three minutes to something else. These reality show contestants need a reality check!
