Okay, this one has to do with jobs. And it's sponsored by "careerbuilder.com" since they seem to call here every.single.day.1. What is the best or worst job you've ever had? 2. What is one job you would love to do - even if it were only for one day? Me: 1. Best job was working at Kings Dominion (amusement park). I did it for four years. The last year I worked in the games bank, so no uniform. I worked long hours (sometimes open to close), but it was awesome. We had free use of the park, and we had fun pretty much every day. I had my heart broken by one co-worker, but I also lived a brief fairy-tale romance with another. 2. One job that I would love to have even for one day: Hooters Waitress. I almost applied once. But I was working at the law firm during the day, and apparently that type of second job was "frowned upon."

1. Worst job - Easy. My last job, paws down.2. Best job - waitressing at a fine dining place in my hometown when I was in my early twenties. Then I'd quit at the end of the day.

I have a few candidates for 'worst' from the summer hiring wars, starting with the previously-mentioned Wendy's job (which ended when I deep-sixed my uniform in the fryer). There was also a movie rental position with a corrupt manager. The joy of that one, other than all the endless & mindless 'fun' we were subjected to by company policy combined with a customer service policy that added up to 'we don't care, but you have to pretend you do', was that no one ever saw their last paycheck. The instant you were dismissed, fired, or just quit, the manager would steal a number of titles with a total value equal to your final salary disbursement, then manipulate the computer and rent them out to you. A few weeks later, you'd get the letter saying 'Since you stole from the store, we're keeping your money to pay for it.' And the manager's personal movie collection got a little larger. Ever try to prove a negative? 'No, I don't have those titles: I never touched them except to reshelve, and I don't have them now...' And naturally, no one ever questioned the manager 'cause he'd filed the missing movie report in the first place. But don't worry: since they kept the paycheck, they won't file criminal charges. All things considered, you should feel you got off easy. That video store no longer exists. Wonder why. I have lots of horror stories from summers past. Lots and lots... A job to hold for a day... I'd love to be some major movie studio's Greenlight approval manager for twenty-four hours. In one day, I could let a lot of projects through that would never otherwise see backing, block stuff that shouldn't be made, and turn a studio's destiny around for years to come -- not to mention making the lives of multiple writers, actors, directors, et. all. 'President' wouldn't give some of y'all enough time to pack.

Best job? Dairy Queen worker. I loved that job. The boss was never around and we had a blast. Plus, I got free ice cream. Worst job? Adhesive tape salesperson (inside sales). I was NOT cut out for sales and who really wants to sell adhesive tape? 2. What is one job you would love to do - even if it were only for one day? A baker in a bakery. I don't know if I could hack early morning bakery hours, but I'd try for awhile. That, or the chick that gets to help JD Fortune change his shirt and towel off on the side stage during concerts.

Best Job:I think BK was my best job until Manager Charles came along. We had a great crew, we hung out, and I grew a lot during that time mentally due to the different experiences I had there. Worst Job: I almost want to say this one but it has to be the job before working for a Civil Engineering Co. because my boss had no time for me and had no people skills at all plus his ethics were as low as low. He covered his own mistakes with bs explanations to the clients and I could not stand that. One Joe I would love: I think surveying...thus why I got my Surveying degree and maybe someday I'll find something in that field where I can play with all the GPS, GIS, etc.

To be honest, I haven't had any jobs that lasted over a few months, due to being a perpetual student, so I don't have a real gauge of what my "ideal job" is...1. Best - Probably my most current job, teaching language arts to GED students. The work is extremely rewarding, my students appreciate me as much as I appreciate them (which is a lot - it takes a lot of balls to come back and work your ass off as an adult, and moreso to be able to put up with a teacher who is a few decades younger than you), and I'm finding myself more in love with the intricacies of grammar than I ever thought possible. I'd also consider writing to be my job, and nothing on earth makes me happier than writing. Worst - tie between my first and my final years working at a daycamp back in NY. The pay was decent, but my first year, I had no friends, I was socially inept, and I had to stand in the sun a lot. The last year, I had tons of friends, but I didn't get to see them most of the time because I wasn't on the waterfront team - in stead, I got to keep an eye on 5-year-old girls, monitoring them with a pack of cliquey female counselors who shunned me because I was a weird artist who didn't like to party. 2. Job for a day? Working up in the booth with Ron, Gary, and Keith for Mets commentary on SNY.

Best job: The first two years at my current employer (a different job than I have now). I worked with great people, traveled around the world, designed and implemented new technology and products, wrote three internal patent disclosures (one of which has since been filed with the US patent office), was an acknowledged expert in my area, and frequently was asked for my opinion before important decisions were made.Worst job: My last aerospace job. I was always on call and frequently was paged in the middle of the night, my coworkers were cliquish to the extreme, said coworkers took great pains to avoid teaching new employees anything useful so those coworkers could remain the departmental heroes, one guy in particular bullied me until I finally stood up to him, and the boss was incompetent and encouraged the clique because they made him look good. Quitting that job to go to grad school full time was the best decision I've ever made. One-day job: Pilot of trans-pacific flight (but not Oceanic Air).

Best job I have had was being a full-time volunteer at the women's shelter. No perks or anything, but I got to be apart of something that will stay with me forever. The experience was humbling, and one that allowed me to be able to deal with my own issues, finally.Worst job I have to say was my first one here in Atlanta. Not going to delve into here, because I have discussed it before, but I wouldn't work there again for any amount of money. If I could choose a job that I made a living at, it would be owning a night club. An adult themed nightclub  .

There are two volunteer positions that I would love to get involved in: a woman's shelter and our local food bank. There was an article recently in our local paper about the woman's shelter. It was a very moving article. As soon as I can get a few other things squared away, I intend to get involved with at least one of these. LOL about the night club.

My best job was when I was the publicist for all the children's books and New York Graphic Society (art) books at the publisher I worked for. I worked with fun authors like Samantha Smith (the little girl who wrote Andropov and visited the Soviet Union), photographer Yousef Karsh, and got to go to all the gallery and musuem openings of exhibits in Boston, NY and D.C. where we published the exhibit catalog. Then I got promoted and had to work with cranky cookbook and diet book authors and desperate to succeed first authors. The fun was gone.Worst job: picking strawberries *waves to Dan - good riddance on that one!* Dream job: sitting on the board of a philanthropy and deciding what deserving but underfunded projects to support.

Your best job does sound like a good one.I can remember picking strawberries as a kid (not as a job). It's kind of hard to describe, but down in the city, many of the residential areas were made into square blocks. Behind these blocks and behind the peoples' yards were alleys. In between the alleys were plots of land. One older man owned one of these plots, which he turned into a garden. We would always steal his strawberries. He would get soooooooo mad at us, and we thought it was so funny.

I actually got paid to go to Mariner's games. More than once and paid very well. Not bad work, if you can get it, huh? (OK, I had to 'chaperone' extremely well-behaved college-age students and drive a huge van to get us all there, which was a bit stressful, but it still was by far and away the best job. Ever.) Worst job:
Too many to pick from. I have cleaned a lot of toilets. Certainly one of the worst was working 12 hour shifts for the Jolly Green Giant in a canning factory. Mercifully, I only did that for a short time. Dream job for one day:
Ski patrol, especially if I could pick the weather and if a fit and young body and healthy knees were returned to me for the day as well.

Best job turned into the worst job. My prior job. First couple of years were great, lots of fun, although lots of work too, which wasn't good for my family life. We got a new Director of Finance, and I was his golden girl. Then when I didn't do as stellar of a job managing a big project with no guidance or place to ask for help, I became the whipping girl.Now my current job is my best job. I have a great boss, a lot of leeway, and am not micromanaged. Job I'd love to do for a day? Be a fighter pilot. And actually fly in a fighter jet. Without getting sick. A job that I would seriously love to do someday? Be a literary proofreader. Reading books as a requirement of a job? How cool.

#1: The best job I ever had was the last one I had before the company went under. It was in QC. I got to walk around and complain about things, cause trouble, through fits, upset people, stop production, tell people they were doing a lousy job, and they even paid me to do this.#2: Go into space on the space shuttle and work on the international space station.

I was a lifeguard once. I liked that, great job for a hormonal teenager.I was a helper in a heavy steel fab factory for a couple of summers. Really hated that, hard menial work, and everyone's 'Heyboy'. Sweeper, grinder, helper, grunt. The Grinding was the worst part. One day - Bob Guccione. Last summer was my first summer belonging to a pool. I could tell that the lifeguards had so much fun. Hopefully my kid will do something fun like that in his teen years.

I was a CIT (counselor in training) when I was 15, and it didn't go well. I had loved that camp and had been a camper for six years prior. I don't know what happened for CIT. I think it was a combination of the some of the other CITs and one of the leaders. It sucked, and I didn't go back again.

1. Best job--as a professional, hands down the teaching job I have now--it's the only place I've taught, but it is a DREAM job. I'm 1/2 the English department, I create and implement my own curriculum, I have relatively small classes in this day and age in high school (currently 18, 17 and 15, but this is a very rare situation..usually in the low to mid 20s) and the kids that I teach are fricking awesome. I don't worry about being shot or poisoned or robbed. The worst things that has happened this year is one fight--the first we've had in three years or more.As an hourly person--selling fireworks in college. It was easy money except for the week of the 4th of July and I was very good at it. 2. Worst job--telemarketing. God, it was horrible. I worked for DialAmerica selling stupid things such as magazine subscriptions for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Broward County. Florida. I was in Knoxville. Tennessee. I felt like a complete fraud the whole time I was on the phone. I think I lasted maybe a week. 3. Dream job--Writer or travel channel television show host.  Kimmah Says
