I am sick of being the nice girl among my group of friends. It is so hard to go out on a limb sometimes and really say what I want to say. I want to tell my friends to give it a rest sometimes with their over-abundance of protection they give to me at times. I just want to say, "let me take care of it on my own", but they won't let me. It hurts sometimes and I don't know how to tell them to butt out. Any suggestions?

Yes, begin stealing boyfriends and starting nasty rumors. I have observed this to be highly effective. If that doesn't work, just be honest and tell them to back off, that is also effective and I've never noticed it hurting anyone.
