She doesn't have a job, yet she has an apartment, and was able to afford gastric bypass surgery which Sommer mentioned last season costs around $25,000?? (ETA: not to mention surgery on her arms?) Her mom is destitute and homeless, so we know she's not able to give Christie any $$$. ??????

Not to be a nit picker, but you forgot to factor in the re-hab stints. I hear they're pretty pricey, but the cost must have been offset by the money she saved by not buying dope.
I'm guessing she's a model OR on a lot of public assistance. *******************************************

Hmm when I pulled up the auction listed on this thread and then checked the out other items for sale by this seller area in the listing there was nothing listed as currently selling but there were several prior sales. I don't think the candles are even included in the auction because it is listed under the category of candle ring and the listing says nothing about the candle being included it only talks about the pewter ring which she says "can be used as a necklace, keychain, or pocket blessing to be mindfull of growth and healing". The bag is decorated and signed by Christie. (Makes it sound like a grade school Mother's Day project.) When I checked her seller feedback there was only feedback from 2 sellers and neither one said Sommersmiles. No buyers have posted feedback for her. She also has left no feedback for anyone. I give her credit for trying to be creative to earn some cash but wish she'd channel her lazy efforts at making a quick buck into something that will make her self supporting and have her pay taxes and work like the rest of us. Guess this shows she'll do anything to get out of working. She wants everything the easy way and that's why she is where she is-nowhere. Maybe her prior listings were taken down becuase she saw they were listed her and didn't want welfare to find out she was making money LOL.

These women are price gouging as if they were celebrities. I feel a rant coming on... You know, their unabashed audacity is beginning to seriously irritate me. I'm angry at these pompous opportunists, and I'm embarrassed for their customers. Yes, it's a free country and people can spend their hard-earned money (or their social security/disability checks) on whatever they want. But I still hate sleazy merchandising that is based on the concept that people are gullible and some of them are willing to finance the imprudent ventures of frauds. Fifty dollars for a candle/candle ring with an ex-dope fiend's signature attached? One hundred plus dollars for a crocheted hat because an ex-hooker made it? Have these marketing geniuses forgotten how to blush??? What was all of that footage we watched of them as they sat in a tearful heap crying to their LC's that mommy, daddy, the therapist, the neigbor, the dog, or the goldfish made them feel like they were worth NOTHING? Well, I guess SO is the miracle cure - because now these women believe that even their cast-offs and scribblings are marketable. What's next? A used Kleenex? Locks of hair? Fingernail clippings? Bath water? In case any of these DAW's read this board, I hope they see this message: Three words to each of you "Stars" of NBC's Hit Show, "Starting Over" who spend more time checking your E-Bay auctions, websites, and inboxes than the classifieds: GET A JOB! Let's stop beating around the bush and hoping against hope, living large, filling the cup, daring to dream, fulfilling your destinies, shouting out to the universe, or whatever other cliche you use to keep these ridiculous hopes alive. You are not TV stars - you never will be TV Stars. You were on the television equivalent of a traveling carnival, and your LC's were the barkers shouting for customers to come and take a closer look at what was inside the tent. Go ahead...try to walk into any kind of reputable talent agency with your SO resume and reels. It just doesn't work that way. Stop holding onto any false inspiration you've derived from the 2 or 3 people who have come off of contest shows and gone on to anything else in the entertainment industry. At least those shows and contestants reflected savvy and intelligence. But SO is a "screw-up show" - and you played the part of the screw-up. Get it? Go ask Rhonda how long it has taken her to get somewhere in television. Her dream was not to be a Life Coach, it was to be an actress. See if Iyanla will tell you anything you can't read on the internet about the false starts and dashed hopes she lived through in carving out a niche for herself. Ask her how difficult it was to stay in the good graces of people like Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters - and what happens if you don't. And when you're done with that line of questioning, ask these famous LC's where we can find them on the fall line-up. Hey, why not? If it's within your realm of possibility, it's certainly within theirs. The world at large is weary of your hats, pocketbooks, scarves, candles, pocket blessings, etc. The only people who really want your signatures, and ironically enough, probably won't get them, are your creditors - and they want them on the bottom of your check. Given those as choices, I agree with you. An e-bay reseller is the best of that list. That said, even better? Being an e-bay re-seller to "supplement" an income from a regular job, that is a job complete with medical benefits and 401K plan. The kind of job that HG's can't wear their pajamas to, or make their own hours. The kind where a supervisor or peers review them, or their progress, without being sympathetic to excuses, whining, and psychobabble to save their a$$es or their jobs. The kind they can get fired from, and have it matter! (I think every job is important)I don't think any of these HG's should be encouraged to pursue their career fantasy LaLa Land jobs, until after they can PROVE they can hold a REGULAR job. If they could spend one year in a regular 9-5? I might by a craptastic flower myself as a reward (in year 2) if the HG was still interested in making an a$$ of herself! Harumph! This has been bothering me, and I was just wondering about this. Christie posts this in her candle add: 10% of all purchases will go to the RAISING CAIN COLLEGE FUND Is this actually a real charity? I mean is it legally set up in his name, so that all money does actually go in a bank account, or is it a made up name just done in her so called good faith. Now, to advertise money going to a charity on something like Ebay..doesn't she need to have legal verification that it is actually a LEGAL charity? I'm just curious, because it sounds like a phony baloney charity to collect money for herself. This just doesn't seem legal.

I mean, what a clear sign of her business acumen! Before I forget....an apology to beautyboyknockout is in order: When bbko wrote that 10% of the candle cost was being donated to her Christie's brother's college fund, I thought it was a joke. "Raising Cain" - now that's a good play on words in this particular situation - or so I thought. But after looking at the E-bay site, I realized bbko was sharing information, not a joke. Snowflake, with her usual distain for SO bs intact, put her foot squarely on the neck of the "Raising Cain" idea when she speculated as to the balance in the "built of wax" college fund. And she's right - the kid may have enough to pay for the postage on a college application or two. Not even Christie is this deluional. Perhaps we should consider a more plausible explanation for mentioning Cain's educational needs next to a repackaged, store bought candle. What philanthropist does Christie think may see this E-Bay auction and say, "Oh, look! This SO lady has a younger brother. And, oh heavens, she's buying candles and re-selling them at an obscene mark-up so that she can put 10% of her profits into a college fund for him. I am so overwhelmed by her altruism, so impressed with her frugality and the innovative nature of this idea, that I will bankroll Cain's college education myself. And for good measure, I think I'll reward Christie with a huge monetary gift." That's the type of screwy thinking that's made SO grads famous around here, lol. And to anyone who may have a clue as to what Christie means when she says "the pewter ring can be used as a necklace or pocket blessing...", please, share with the group what is shown in that picture that could be used as either. No apology necessary, I only report what I see. The charms she uses look like scrapbooking plaques to me. All kinds of inspirational things can be had at the craft stores, like these.
Maybe the handmade part is the part where she glues the paper, ribbon and plaque on the candle itself.
She is getting bids, and people will buy anything on ebay! (supply and demand) I saw once where someone was selling their ego (no Joke!)and they had a bid,(99 cents) and no it wasn't Christie, I shouldn't give her any ideas. LOL

SR..maybe I'm wrong about this, but I thought Christie was referring to the 'pewter ring' as that little aluminum gadget at the bottom of the candle where the wick gets connected. You burn the candle wick all the way down and there is that metal think you can hang around your neck or put in your pocket, and remember Christie and all her wonderful blessings. In this one, the little piece of junk appears to read "Happy Day" or something like that...I'm pretty sure on the "day" part, but the first part is a little hard to make out. BBKO, yeah, I think the cr@ppy decorating is the "handmade" part. Christie's lazy @ss would never make the actual candle by hand. In fact, she is so lazy, she probably even gets someone tie/glue the cheap-@ss ribbon for her. Did you see what Cheryl (HG from the "couples" portion of SO) wrote as a comment to Christie's blog? Cheryl Oh, please! She's doing it for Cain...that's why she's keeping the other 90%. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Christie made no mention of this college fund when she first put these candles up for sale. She is an attention ho who probably scours these message boards for any mention of her. She probably put in that "Raising Cain college fund" bit because she realized someone was *on* to the fact that she's simply selling dollar store candles, so she's trying to justify the sales as a "charity".

It looks to me that under the ribbon, she has that doily paper glued to the candle, lol, well at least it looks like it on that "ugly orange" one.And besides if those "cheap" candles were bought at the 99c store... they can't really smell that good. And she is also hiding something on the white candles, otherwise, why doesn't she have a "close-up" like the ugly orange one? And what the heck is with all the plants next to the candle ... What I thought was so wonderful (eyes rolling & rolling & rolling) is that she is not just selling the candles but actually selling CANDLE BLESSINGS. Does this mean that Christie now has the power to BLESS us?Here's the dictionary definition of blessing:

In actuality, Christie should put herself thru college with her wealth from SO, Rhonda's book, and her other reality TV experiences. Then by the time her brother might actually go, she could feasibly have a real live paying job with a real live income. Oh, but that would be soooo beneath a SO model/superstar like Christie. Somehow I see any small amount of $ Christie happens to make doing anything going directly in her own pocket with the justification that it won't matter that she doesn't set up an actual fund for her brother because IF he goes to college, she'll be a rich star by then and will be able to pay for the best private university in the country. Too bad that by then, Cain will have been homeless and on the streets for so long that he'll be lucky to be sober with a HS diploma. I guess he can someday go live with Cassie and find out how to get his GED in 30 years or less.

The cat is out of the bag...Christie (and Jill and Jody) have all signed up to be "rent-a-celebs" for your next big event! Why would you want them at your next big event? Maybe Christie appears at sleep clinics to help the people sleep. Although her voice would be too irritating to get to sleep at first but then as she drones on I could see people drifting off rather rapidly. Heaven knows she is as interesting as watching grass grow. I personally wouldn't pay anything at all to hear Christie, Jodi or Jill speak. Christie will try to do anything to make money with little effort. She doesn't realize that if she went to work and got a real job and actually moved off her fat butt she might lose some weight and tone up a bit.

geminirose,I know...there was a day when the show had some integrity - or at least it appeared to. Now all it's good for is laughter. As for the other cast members not being listed or "rentable" (lol), as I clicked on the headings, it became pretty clear that Christie contacted the site, not the other way around. There is an application that the prospective "talent" (snicker...) has to fill out. These women are on that site because they consider it to be the next logical step in furthering their alleged public careers. They have no agents, managers, or talent agencies to guide them, so they are foolishly grabbing at straws. I cannot emphasize enough how absolutely futile and desperate all of this is. Christie believes she can ride into Hollywood on Rhonda's coattails, yet Rhonda can't ride into Hollywood on her own coattails. Christie is headed for a major letdown, and a possible depression. She's an addict - and now she's addicted to the pipedream of stardom. But, on a lighter note - you, gr, are to be commended for finding this pearl of a site. Good detective work...and thanks for sharing it.

A few things......
This week is a rough one for all of us. I am too very sad to see the season end. I want to thank you all for taking this ride with me it has been an awesome journey! I have been told that the show is NOT being picked up. It breaks my heart to know that I will be the last graduate ever of Starting Over. I do believe that something even more wonderful will come out of everything the house has brought to the world. I am not sure what that looks like yet, but I have faith. Something as life changing and similar to Starting Over will continue and hopefully in a primetime spot. Not enough people know about SO and I feel if another show like it gets put on the air at night millions more people can be touched as we are. I choose to reframe my disappointment with that thought.
As far as what is new in my life....I will be blogging on Thursday. All of your questions asked about what I am doing now... Mostly I am still trying to find my way each and everyday with these new tools I have been blessed with. I look forward to sharing even more in the months to come.
One great thing I did this weekend was attend the Miss America 2006 MADD event presented by Reality Cares and the Ed Hardey Store. Jennifer Berry gave a compelling speech about her dedication and intolerance to drunk driving. I also extended my time to MADD and spoke with them about collaborating in the future, to bring awareness to this horrific problem. As an alcoholic I believe I have life experiences to draw from and to help bring consciousness to this cause. I've never "E-BAYed" before, but don't they screen these listings?? Better yet, isn't there some branch of the IRS that investigates "non-profit" businesses?? I'm pretty sure Crusty does'nt have a REAL job. And having her brother under her roof only opens up the door for her to collect welfare. I won't be going away for any needed R&R this weekend. I WORK, I HAVE A JOB!!! And because I pay my OWN bills, I don't always have the extra cash for those things. Gee, now that I think of it, I would'nt even mind a little plastic surgery here and there, but nope....my benefits, that I earn through WORKING, probably would'nt cover it. Do you know how much energy it takes to wait at the bus-stop so you can get to The Dollarama for more supplies. She has to find a cart, go to the right aisles to pick up thirty more glass trivets, AND 30 more vanilla, cherry, and pine scented votive candles. Then, it's off to the greeting card section so that she can use her keen artistic eye to select the appropriate "All Occassion Gift Wrap" -- stripes, florals, or geometrics? As if that isn't enough, she has to wait on line (in dark glasses, avoiding the gawking eyes of the autograph hounds), and then finish the transaction by digging through her pocketbook for $70.93! THEN she gets back on the bus, takes all that stuff home, lugs it into her house, and begins to fill orders. Cutting out paper shapes, tying ribbons, and adding the scrapbook embellishments - (what did she calls those things??? - um....pendants) this is serious stuff! And let's not even talk about her collaboration with that top on-line designer to make those yummy-yummy or tootie frootie jewelry charms! You think it's easy to choose phrases like "Live Life", "Move Ahead" "Push the Limit", "Dance to Life", "I Am Woman", "I Take Cash", "Take What U Want", "100% Lost", "Total Fool", "No Income", "Welfare Rocks!", "Airhead", and "I'm Famous!"? Well, it's not. As if she isn't burdened enough, do you know how much time it takes to watch her SO episodes over and over (just ask Jill!)? Then she has to spend time each day just loving herself...which, in her case means burning incense around the Christie altar, upon which she proudly displays her modeling photos. She has to keep in touch with the SO sisterhood, and then there's the blogging, blogging, and blogging, mailing packages out, and the really hard part -- trying to figure out what 10% of any dollar amount comes out to...this is taxing work! Plus she still has to find that industrial sized mayonnaise jar, and then tape the "Raising Cain College Fund" sign on the front of it. She's a smart cookie though...she'll probably kill two birds with one stone. She may as well find a small, empty mustard jar and tape the "Other Kids' College Fund" sign on that one while she's setting up Cain's "account". Whew...I'm tired just running through her day. Poor Christie. She's certainly paying her dues, isn't she?

It does more than just creep me out, it totally disgusts me how Christie continues to shamelessly target her fans for money. Is what she's doing with this 'fund' even legal?
No doubt in my mind Christie Duran is a fraud and I just hope she gets nailed for tapping into strangers for donations without giving any details of this scam she's pulling. California laws are pretty strict regarding fundraising and it seems to me she would have to fully disclose in writing how she's using the money she's collecting in the name of "Cain". What a lying weasel and the same goes for Jodi who appears to be 'still donating' even though eBay has forbid them both from using this bogus fund to line their pockets. And her new website? More lies. And promises of more to come, this cheesy con seems to be really on a roll.
Who knows, maybe Rhonda will catch word and do the right thing - put the kabosh on Christie's obvious pandering for profit in the name of her little brother and now 'other children'. Or, better yet, the Attorney General of the State of California investigates to assure her donors she's in complete compliance with the law.

Well, well, well ... looks like Christie has truly ARRIVED. She is putting herself out there as the **STAR** that she would like others to believe she is. This isn't even funny anymore. It past funny a long time ago and has now even gone beyond sad & pathetic. Christie surpassed all other SO HGs as the Queen DAW some time ago, reached a level even beyond Allison & Jill, and is in a class by herself. The saddest part of it all is, the higher the pedestal Christie constructs for herself, the harder the fall. Did Christie "heal" enough, grow & change enough, leave SO with enough "tools" to survive a fall from this level? Christie is NOT a star, she's NOT a model, she's NOT a motivational speaker, she's NOT an actress. What is she? What does she have to offer the masses? On her web page she says she is a "Speaker" & a "Hostess" (not exactly sure what her version of "hostess" is) but she has a voice that makes dogs howl and she gets overwhelmed at the sight of a "to do" list so I don't see her able to handle planning & carrying out an "event". And now she is forming a "Book Club"? Does she envisions herself as the "White Oprah"? Christie, it's a very long fall off a pedestal THAT high. But at least poor, over-worked Christie can be contacted through her (not yet existent) manager so she won't have to weed thru her many lucrative offers herself! We can have our people contact her people. What a relief -- maybe she'll spend less time away from all her adoring fans for much needed R & R. What next? I'm sure a book is in the works! Then she can add "author" to her list of high level accomplishments. By the way, can someone please translate for me what Christie means by her "extensive backround in family services"? Annie, thanks for posting Christie's new website. I am having the same feelings of disgust at Christie's site as I had at Allison's, when A. was simultaneously collecting pity donations on her website while entertaining delusions of stardom. Maybe this is website is another "freebie" done by the same guy who did Christie's embarassing "modeling video". 26mitogo, I am equally suspicious of Christie's stated employment background. A family specialist usually has at least a BA or BS in social work or a related field, and we know Christie has no college degree. It is also a career in which both written and oral communication are very important. Christie has difficulty spelling three letter words, and she often sounded like a moron on SO. Also, Christie was a "family specialist" who could not figure out how to save her brother from being HOMELESS? My guess is Christie's experience lies on the RECEIVING end of family/social services. I hope Christie didn't pay for her website with a welfare check meant to provide for her brother.

If they want to give to a charity, they can send their money to me, I'll use it to pay bills. I would hope that eventually the state would step in and investigate christy's source(s) of income. A "non-profit" charity is great excuse for her to not have to claim any income. This would include $ made off the sales of her junk...and jodi's too. So she'll remain unemployed with no source of income with a minor under her roof. The math here is'nt difficult at all if you ask me!!! It's easy to see why christy's a$$ is so big....so much time on her hands and all the free food she can stuff into her big mouth!! (oh, and can't forget the prescription pills too!) And I don't think the government has a free booze program but I'm sure she's found some way of acquiring THAT for free too.
CHRISTY....for pete's sake, gather up what little bit of dignity you might have and JUST GET A JOB!!!!
