PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are

Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

It's a Brittish PBS show where they give two teams 200 "pounds" each and then send them out to flea markets to buy antiques. A week later they take the stuff to an auction house and sell it. The team the makes the biggest profit is the winner, but they don't even get any prize. I'm not sure why, but I really get a kick out of this show.I know everybody wants to go on Survivor or Love Cruise...but I want to go on "Bargain Hunter" and buy a bunch of weird, goofy stuff that makes a ton of money!

Wow! I haven't heard of the show, but I like the idea of it, wish that our PBS would have that. I watch every Antiques Road Show on PBS. I'd sure like to be a "contestant" on that show. There's nothing more that I enjoy than to get up early on a weekend morning and go "sailing." Garage Sailing, that is. There's something about finding a treasure like an old ashtray from a hotel that has the phone number with just five digits and no prefix and get it for a dime that satisfies my soul somehow. Hey, to each their own, ya know?

OhKay! I could get into a show like this. One of my new favorites is a show on The Learning Channel called Trading Spaces. I have seen GT mention on the board a British show called Changing Rooms; I think it is supposed to be the same show. I also Love Junkyard Wars ( my kid loves this one) that is also a British import and also on TLC. Not all reality Tv involves bikinis and/or starvation. EBug-who would gladly go Yard-sailing with Sky or Monkey anytime

Is that the show where neighbors trade houses for the weekend, and redecorate a room? I love that show. I can't imagine letting any of my neighbors do that to my house, but I love watching the awful stuff they do on this show! It always seems that one of the neighbors has really good taste, only to go home, and find their kitchen now has burnt orange walls and lime green cabinets!! Hee hee.

That redecorating reminds me of a friend I had when I lived in Las Vegas. It seems that one day the people across the street decided to paint their house these godawful complimentary shades of bright lemon yellow with electric blue trim, and just a little touch of turquoise thrown in here and there to really bring the yellow out. I mean even for Vegas this was gaudy. So when the neighbors were all done, my friend went and fished all the leftover cans of paint and the still-wet brushes out of their trash one night. He then proceeded to use the leftovers to paint the front of his house the exact same way, exclaiming "If I have to look at that crap every day, then so help me, they're gonna have to do the same!" So if you're ever in Vegas and you see two houses right across the street from each other painted in identically offending hues of bright yellow and flourescent blue, you'll know the story.

I HAVE seen this show, and I loved it! I was on vacation when I saw it, and I never was able to find it again once I came home. I delayed my partner and I from going to taste wine for a good half an hour so that I could see the end of it. I don't remember, did they get to keep the stuff they bought?I love that reality television is making its way into these other genres of programming--especially to things involving antiques and decorating. My proposal for a new one is a sort of Trading Spaces for the garden. Wouldn't it be fun to exchange yards with someone for a weekend in order to landscape one another's yards? Could be interesting. Now where's my agent? Frau Hexe

Witchypoo, They don't get to keep the stuff...they HAVE to sell it all at auction the next week. They really would like to keep most of their treasures but they can't even bid on it. They don't even get any prizes....they just do it for fun.If you see it again, listen to the host when they get to the auction house. He will always find some unusual items he likes and estimate how much it will auction for. His estimate is always really close to what it sells for. He's not just funny, he really knows value of antiques.
