Sorry if I started way too early... just wanted to share rumors of vote tallies for East and Central coasts. Someone posted from other boards a rumored tally that the ladies are safe while the men are in the bottom 2 with a big difference in between the 5th (George) and 4th (LaToya) placers, while the ladies (TOP 4) got close votes with Fantasia and Jasmine leading the pack. Now... it's John Stevens' time to say adieu... my six dif'rent flava   Top

"Right" I mentioned three of Donna's songs that I really like (Donna may have become a star BECAUSE of disco, but she didn't NEED disco to be a star), then three annoying and overplayed disco songs: Gaynor's "I Will Survive," Irene Cara's "Flashdance (What a Feeling)," and the Village People's "YMCA." And, to be honest, Donna didn't become a star because of disco -- she had her first hit because she could moan and simulate sex in English ("Love to Love You Baby," an English imitation of Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg's French hit, "Je t'aime").   Top

He may have been the youngest but he certainly showed more class, integrity and perseverance than ANY of the others. I love his style of singing and enjoyed American Idol because of him. Perhaps if AI did away with theme nights and just let people sing what they're comfortable with, America could vote on talent. If George wins AI, do you think he'll record Latin songs? "Performance-based" I'd have to say that this is the most performance-based vote that I've seen this year, and not just because John got booted. George was terrible, and the only really good performances were from LaToya and Diana (who REALLY needs some advice on her fashion choices from Larry, methinks), who were both safe. With George as the last man on the show, I look for him to be safe next week -- unless he doesn't recover from his illness (a singer on Australian Idol who reached the final 3 had to quit the show because her doctors advised her to rest her throat for 6 months). I think EVERYONE ELSE on the show has to consider herself potentially vulnerable next week, especially since "big band" singing will seem so alien to many of them.   Top

Why did they change the theme...because they knew he would do well? Did the producers allow the strengths of other contestants to be shown, while purposely putting off the genre that suited John the best? I think it was a conspiracy. How sad that this "talent show" doesn't allow people to display their talents. I'm sure the remaining contestants, as well as those previously sent home, have much more to offer than any ever us will see because the show doesn't really showcase their talents.   Top

Maybe because everyone else had more than 4 million votes? If 28 million votes were cast, then John's 4 million represent only 14% of the vote. That means he didn't even get a sixth of the votes cast. John Stevens went home because he was god-awful. No other reason.   Top

I mean, he was practically forcing himself not to snap those fingers. And Simon was right- he has taken all of this like a man. I almost feel sorry for him having to miss Big Bands night.
