"Week 6- Best and Worst"
A little birdie told me that Angelfood would be unable to start this thread, so I'm helping out. *waves* to CSTL.

Please post who you thought the best and worst were in Week 6- Songs of Barry Manilow to this thread. Thankyou and have a nice day.

And no this isn't a duplicate, this is a best and worst thread. The other thread was the east coast update thread.

Just say no to trolls.

Commercial time on 24 so here's mine.

Best- LaToya, Jennifer and Fantasia
Worst- Diana, Jasmine, George and John

Bottom three will be Diana, Jasmine and John with John going home.

Although I also think Fantasia may be in the bottom, it was too churchy for some maybe. Heck in Paul didn't sound too crazy about her rendition.

I'd rank them with Jennifer #1 and Fantasia or George #7.

I think America will put LaToya or Fantasia #1 and John #7.

Maybe I'm just not a Manilow fan, but I really hated tonight's show.

Best: Jennifer, Jasmine
Middle: John, Fantasia, Latoya
Worst: George, Diana

I'm really terrified right now because I'm a huge George fan, and this week I think he's due for a possible bottom two appearance...however, it is Diana's week to go, in my opinion.

I agree that Jennifer was the best. I voted for her and I still voted for George, give me a break its hard singing a Barry Manilow song, even Barry Manilow has a hard time. Fantasia I thought was worst then George but Randy loves her. The only way Jennifer has a shot at winning this is to get rid of Fantasia and Latoya. I just hope John Stevens leave tonight.

9. "RE: Week 6- Best and Worst"
I enjoyed this week, because I think they all made good song choices. Some of them executed better than others.

1. Latoya - Before she started singing, Mr. B said, "Oh, she's my favorite, she's the one I want to win." He loves how she always sings in key (one of the big sticking points to a voice teacher). Not as flashy as some, but a lovely and polished performance. Mr. B always compliments her technique. Got votes in this household.

2. Jennifer - As soon as I realized what song she was going to sing, I was psyched. I loved how she just let the simple beauty of the melody shine through at first, but hinted at the power that she was going to bring at the end. Excellent. Again, got votes in this household.

3. Jasmine - Haven't been a fan, but was impressed tonight. She needs to get over her urge to screech out high notes (that she never quite reaches) and just sing. She did a lovely job with the melody and showed some real potential. Wouldn't want to see her kicked out after that performance.

4. Fantasia - Loved the energy, but wasn't as wowed as by some of the others. Mr. B was completely underwhelmed.

5. Diana - She sang a song that I love and that was quite fitting for her. Had some rough spots, but I was pleased to finally see her singing something she should be singing (unlike last week's horror). Ending was quite lovely.

6. George - I used to be a George fan, but for the second week in a row, I've been extremely disappointed. Right after he finished, I looked at Mr. B and said, "He overembellished. He should have just sung it instead of trying to do so much with it." Then Randy said basically the same thing. It was the right song with too much ornamentation. If he had just let the melody shine through (like Jennifer did so beautifully right after him), he could have had an amazing performance. Mr. B thinks he's getting worse each week instead of better.

7. John - Saw more emotion out of him in the first half of the song than I've seen all season, and it was a welcome sight. He loses steam mid-performance, though, and this isn't the first time he's done it. He can't create and sustain a mood for an entire piece. And Mr. B kept pointing out flat note after flat note. One of his stronger performances, but completely out of everyone else's league.

I told myself not to use the "D" word tonight, so I'll be good!

For the last few weeks now, the trio of Fantasia, Jennifer and LaToya have shown their stuff and it is good!

George didn't do so well tonight, I'm picking George for the bottom 3 cellar dwellers along with our redheaded friend John and Jasmine(the Hawiian vote won't be enough to save her.)

LaToya all the way to the end, no doubt!

A great year to be a Leafs fan!!

Hmmm, I was cringing at the thought of Barry night, but it was 'aight.

Sorry peeps, but all my 742 votes went to John tonight. Mainly because I think it was his best performance, and also because I thought Simon was a little to personally mean to him tonight. I also don't have a favorite, (nor do I really like any of them much, and don't care who goes) so I'm just trying to give y'all someone to keep complaining about.

I agree with your comments. I thought Jennifer was good, but that kind of style isn't to my taste. Too over the top dramatic. I liked LaToya's quiet elegance and Fantasia's energy. Fantasia won me over completely last week with "Summertime." And I liked joyous energy tonight.

I wonder what's up with George--I'd been really loving him til the last two weeks?

Okay, I can finally add my two cents.
Diana-I know she was praised by the judges but she didn't do it for me. I felt she was flat through the entire song. My GF asked if I was listening to another song than she was, but I believe she should be bottom 3 this week.
George, normally I love him, this week he fell short, I would put him in the Bottom 3 along with Diana and Jon.
Jasmine finally stepped it up a notch. I didn't think she was fab, but she was definitely better than she has been the last couple of weeks so I would give her another chance. Jon, well, I would put him in the bottom 3 with either he or Diana going home.
Latoya just shouldn't be here. She should leave now, walk right to a record label and go where she belongs which is way above any of he the AI finalists.
Jennifer, gave me chills, she gets better every week and at this pace will be so good by the end she may surpass Fantasia.
Fantasia, who once again I must state, I am not one of her fans, but she did great again and at least she brings some great energy to the show. I do love the fact that she doesn't always play it safe and that deserves points in my book.

if you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me.

Barely Manenough week! Actually, I like some of his stuff, especially the older. I was very happy no one did "I Write the Songs" or "Copacabana" or I would have had to hurl.

The Best:

Fantasia/Latoya - They were neck and neck tonight. Latoya was good, but she always is. She is consistantly good, no better or worse than ever. Fantasia is not my favorite, but she put a lot of energy into her performance and I do think she is a better performer than Latoya. Latoya = voice, Fantasia = performer.

Jennifer/Diana - I really like both of them, and Jennifer keeps getting better each week. She was a little slow in the beginning, but finished with excellent power. Diana had a few down weeks, but she's getting back on track and I hope she sticks around.

Not Bad:

Jasmine - I think she was a little breathy (I was very conscious of her breathing during this song) and off on a few notes, but it was a pretty good performance, and a great song. I just don't find her compelling enough to really like her.

John - He did okay. I know he doesn't have many fans on this board, but I think he sounded fairly good with this song. Again, I like his voice, but he's not a compelling performer. He doesn't quite know what to do with his hands.

Abysmal:

George - That's one of my fave BM songs, and he just mutilated it. I honestly think George peaked a few weeks ago and he is going downhill rapidly. I don't think we'll ever see him as good as he was in the beginning, but something tells me his fan base is solid and he's safe this week. But gods, was he bad!

Bottom 3 - George, John, Jasmine/Diana, and goodbye to John, but based on this night's performance alone, it should be George.

I thought George was off his game tonight. The song he sang was not his genre and it showed.

Redhead Jon sounded like he always does.

The D-words all sounded good, IMO. Like Jasmine tonight - first night she's really done anything for me.

Now. I only have one question.

Why didn't anyone do Copa Cabana!?

My rankings:

1. Jennifer - She has grown more than any other performer. She could, and maybe should, win this competition. I'm feeling it, dawg.

2. LaToya - Another solid performance, but she really needs a personality. I wouldn't pay to see her. Of course she's the best singer in the group, but that doesn't mean she'll win.

3. Diana - Her laryngitis seems to be clearing, but it was obvious she's still not at her peak.

4. Jasmine - Her best so far. May not be good enough to stick around.

5. Fantasia - The Gospel According to Barry? Fantasia had a chance to show she could sing white bread pop. I didn't like the choice, and I'm really tired of her "yeah yeah yeah" tags. Why doesn't someone call her on that?

6. George - His voice is really getting ragged, and he oversung. He'll still get plenty of votes, but he's definitely slipping.

7. John - No doubt about it, John should go home.

The voters will put John, Jasmine and Fantasia in the bottom three, and John will go home. Sorry, kid, but the competition got better, and you didn't.

LAST EDITED ON 04-21-04 AT 01:29 AM (EST)

1). Jen is really trying, and she is getting better each week. I do wonder what happens if she gets away from the slower ballad-type of song, though.

2).I think LaToya's hubby and kid may not be as attractive to voters, and as has been said, she really needs to show some personality soon. She could go out right now and still have a recording contract. It would be nice to see her open up some.

3). Fantasia is pulling out all the stops. I didn't like her much in the beginning, and I didn't care much for her voice, but last week blew me away, and this week, she really tore it up. I agree the churchy thing might not go over, but she's going to be around for a bit yet.

It's going to be tough to decide the last 3, that's for sure!

4). I want to put George here, but this week was not good. I hope he rebounds. Instead, I have to go with Diana. She will be booted in the long run, but she's got potential.

5). Jasmine. She's improving, and I was THRILLED to see the flower gone, until she pointed it out to Simon (after he called it the 'goofy flower' - had to laugh!).

6). George. He was off, off, off tonight. Still, not as bad as poor Johnny Red. I hate to see George and his enthusiasm go, but if one person can vote at least 500 times in the time allotted, and if John's school is voting as they say, they're going to rack-up at least 100,000 for him! I hope George has a local group dialing, too!

7). John. PLEASE, if there is any justice in this competition, let the poor kid go home already!!!

JMHO.

I am not interested in listening to the three Divas! O.K. they have decent voices, but to me they are either boring or squealing (sometimes both!).

The singer/performer I like the best - George - has done terribly the last two weeks and I am afraid he will be gone. Amy was the only other singer I liked and JPL was the only other performer I liked.

Diana, Jasmine and John - Yawn!! Not bad, just not good!

I would rather listen to some of the poorest performers from the first two seasons.

Best:
Worst: (in alphabetical order) Diana, Fantasia, George, Jasmine, Jennifer, John, Latoya. (Did I miss anyone?)

26. "RE: Week 6- Best and Worst"
I'm not real pleased that I stayed up so late just to watch the Mavericks lose another game they should have one, so if I'm overly testy, I apologize.

1. Jennifer - she's great. She's grown so much and really has come into her own. She's got that underdog thing going too. She sang the hell out of that song this week.

2. Diana - I thought she did awesome. A few trouble spots, but she rebounded nicely. I'm glad to see her act and dress like a 16 year old. She has remarkable poise. Bless her heart - I was proud of her.

3. Jasmine - she kicked booty when she needed to as well. I wish they didn't tart her up so much though. The outfit was icky for such a young girl. (When did I become so old anyway?). The song suited her very well.

4. LaToya - maybe we expect too much from her. I was underwhelmed tonight - I really thought she was gonna blow everyone away, and it just seemed predictable. I have to say though, she's growing on me. I've called her robotic before, but I was wrong - she just lets her voice stand alone, and in this season of obnoxious personalities, it is very refreshing.

5. Fantasia - speaking of obnoxious. There's confidence, then there's arrogance. Fantasia is arrogant. I don't like her and likeability is huge in this competition. I didn't mind that she was doing gospel - gospel music can be so moving. But tonight's performance didn't move me at all. Every thing she does - right down to trotting her baby on stage - seems so contrived and rings completely false. Blech.

6. John - it pains me to rank him above George, but he doesn't deserve last place tonight. It was boring and safe and not very inspiring, but he didn't dance. And that is a good thing.

7. George - WTF? two weeks in a row now George has blown it. He sounded very congested tonight. Not himself at all. Even though he was the worst performer tonight, I really hope he stays put. He is not the worst singer in the competition, but holy crud - maybe he needs bottom three to shake this slump off.

bottom three predictions: John, Diana, George
boot: John

Although it wouldn't surprise me at all to see one of the divas or George get the boot. Lots of mixed reactions here tonight, and we're due for a flukey disaster kind of boot.

Every week my hope is for George to be booted off the show. I just can't stand his facial expressions, the hand to his mouth, the "aw, shucks, I am so shocked that you like me" routine is getting real old. CAN"T STAND HIM and plus he was awful tonight.
Jennifer is on fire, I thought she was fab-u-lus!!
Latonya is rather boring in her delivery, but her voice is undeniable.
Fantasia did an excellent job also. I think she's quirky-no attitude. I was into her performance, but felt some viewers might be turned off by-they just don't get it.
Stan Laurel started off pretty good, but faded. Oh Mandy, is right!!
Those other girls were just background noise as I worked on the computer. They didn't even get me to look up at the T.V. I should say in fairness to them, I missed parts of their performance due to a tornado warning in Chicago that interrupted the broadcast several times. Luckily, the hometown girl sang with no interruptions!! Good Luck, Jennifer!!!

Switch Diana and Jasmine and I agree with this list.
I like the energy and power of Fantasia's singing, but
last night she really really took a drop in my eyes. Didn't like the way she did that song one bit.

George is falling apart. Big time.

Hmmmmmm...not the best week, but my Jasmine finally endeared herself to some people! I knew she would. However, I'll cut the crap and actually rank everyone and not put Jasmine on the pedestal where she belongs. (P.S. I KNOW she's not the best, but humour me, okay?).

1. La Toya - enough said.

2. Jasmine - glad to see the flower gone from the hair, at least.

3. Jennifer - honestly, she was third best by default. The rest were not great.

4. Fantasia - the best of the not-greats, but I HATE the churching-up of songs.

5thru7. DianaGeorgeJohn - dear lord, a hideous monster! These three were so terrible. However, Diana and George were marginally better than Fire Crotch, and deserve to stay another week.

I imagine the boot order in coming weeks will go like this:

John
Diana
Jasmine
George (or his and Jasmine's positions reversed)
Jennifer

Leaving Fantasia and La Toya to duke it out...of course, Fantasia could prove to be even more annoying than she already is, in which case it will be Jen versus LTL.

Well, the mute-button factor for this show was pretty low. I think I only used it for George and John. It helped that I didn't know most of the songs.

I loved Latoya- she didn't over-embellish, stayed on-key and just generally sang true. She is the best singer in the competition. She can be subdued and hasn't been emotionally connected to the music, but last night she was perhaps the best emoter out there.

I always hold my breath when I'm watching Jennifer, but luckily she did very well last night. I found her a bit over-the-top though.

Fantasia took the easy route last night. No doubt she has spent the majority of her life singing in church. This was comfortable for her- but it didn't work for the crowd. I do agree that she brings much needed energy to the competition.

Diana was okay. Better than I expected. She was smiling through a sad song though, which I found very odd. Still too "Up With People" for me.

Thanks the gods Jasmine took that stupid flower out of her hair. She also did better than I expected of her, although both she and Diana have problems with the lower notes and keeping things subtle.

Both George and John did poorly- George's rendition was way too busy, and John, well, the two seconds that I listened to, before I pressed mute, were awful- quavering, saggy and totally plastic.

Best: Latoya, Jennifer,
Middling: Fantasia, Diana
Eh: Jasmine
Worst: George and John

I am just going to say which one I liked best...I didn't think any were absolutely horrible this week. I like Jennifers performance even though I thought she was belting just a bit much at the end.

I thought Latoyas performance was just so-so and I didn't care for Fantasia's rendition.

Diana and George I thought were a little weak but I think George tried to do too much with the song like Randy said.

John S. I still like this kid but he needs to go out have a relationship and get dumped so he can feel what he's singing about. The voice is nice but there's no feeling or personality still.

1. Jasmine - Very good. She needs to move away from the microphone when she takes her breaths to she doesn't breathe into it all the time! Where is Gladys when you need her? Her best since "Inseperable". (Larry will have a field day with that horrific skirt, even if the hair was fab)

2. Latoya - Very understated, and very nice. I enjoyed it as always. She did great.

3. Jennifer - She seemed to oversing it a little again, but not as bad as she did during the first few weeks. Enjoyed it for the most part.

4. Fantasia - I enjoyed it when I listened to it that night--just because it was a change of pace, but when hearing the mp3 this morning it didn't play back well. Not vocally the best from her. I had to roll my eyes when they brought the kid out on stage.

5. Diana - Don't know what the judges are smoking. That was not her best performance of the competition. She does the belting parts so effortless, but she needs to work on the quiet parts more. In the opening note, her lips moved but nothing came out.

6. Jon - Not awful, and I agree with the judges that the opening song was good, but he was incapable of emoting the song all the way through. A nice effort though and I didn't hate it.

7. George - Ack! What happened? This was really bad. Vocally bad, and I believe the song he was singing was supposed to be a sad song--yet he was smiling all the way through. If he had this performance in the opening weeks he'd be gone. I hope he isn't losing his voice. Bad time to do it.

First, let me unabashedly say that I love Barry Manilow, even though I am a heterosexual Gen-X male. He's not the best singer in the world, but he sings his songs with emotion that one can feel.

Unfortunately, tonight's Idols either did not have that emotion or they took it over the top. I was underwhelmed.

My rankings are:

1. Latoya--Consistently the best. This was the only song that I did not know. (I sang the lyrics to the rest to DW, much to her chagrin, I might add!) She is consistent but, like others, I wonder if that comes across as bland.

2. Diana--Started out pitchy but came on at the end. I think she is one of the most technically-correct singers in the competition, but b/c of her age, she sometimes doesn't have the emotion needed to make one feel a song. That was true tonight.

3. Jennifer--Same old, same old. A good gospel performance that went over-the-top at the end. Sorry, shedevil, but I don't like her. She is as consistently over-the-top as John S. is sleep-inducing. DW thinks she sounds like Nell Carter, which is not a bad thing necessarily, but every song sounds the same. I don't see diversity in her song selection or performances. The difference b/w her and Latoya is that Latoya has mixed it up and can be subtle. Jennifer cannot be subtle, IMHO.

4. Fantasia--One of her worst performances. She was not in sync with the music for most of the song and, like Jennifer, was too over-the-top at the end. I like her better when she is more subdued, like last week, and shows some attachment to the song.

5. George--Not a good performance for him. Should have listened to Barry--too much movement in the song. George's voice needs a certain type of song, and this wasn't it.

6. Jasmine--Horrible performance. Flat, pitchy, forced, blah. At least she lost the flower, which made her look more attractive.

7. John S.--Actually started out good but deteriorated quickly. Of all the songs to ruin, "Mandy" was not the one. It is one of my faves, and he blew it. This should have been a slam-dunk for him.

Bring on the 80s Hair Band Night! Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue--Whoo-hoo!

1. Jennifer - She just keeps getting better and better each week. I have to thank SheDevil for voting 500 times because I never got a chance to vote. I watched my tape after I came home from a meeting (about 10:00 p.m.) and I couldn't vote.

2. Fantasia - I think she might turn off some people because the song sounded a little gospel-ly (is that a word), but BM said that was the style he was looking for. I loved it.

3. Latoya - I thought it was pretty good, but I wasn't in love with that one high note. I'm also still bothered by the fact that, while her performances are still technically good, there doesn't seem to be much emotion or energy behind the performances. I also hate the way she works that mike.

4. Jasmine - Much better than last week. She has a sweet voice, but she's no match for the DIVAS. (There, I said it, I'll *whack* myself, thank you very much...)

5. George - I love George, but this performance wasn't good. He was weak and out of tune. I hope it doesn't hurt him. It's not his time to go yet.

6. Diana - Another performance that was better than last week. But she's still out of tune. She needs a few years to mature.

7. John - I actually thought this was one of his best performance (the first part of the song, at least). I closed my eyes while listening and found that it helped. I still think he's out of his league and needs to go.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

1. Jennifer: Wow. Such a powerful performance
2. Latoya: Very smooth and professional
3. Diana: I agree with Simon; it was her best performance to date.
4. Fantasia: She sang it well, but her attempts to get the audience to clap along with her were annoying.

Well, I think my ears have finally stopped ringing from all the screaming that went on last nite. UGH!!

Diana--just ok, Screamer, the judges were wrong on her

George--it was just ok too, but at least he didnt scream

Jennifer--another screamer, I dont think this song was meant to be sung like she did last nite

Jasmine-off key, horrible

LaToya-she did well, but she screamed too

John-the first verse he did quite well and his voice was quite nice (when he was sitting) but then although he stood up at the right time he just couldn't bring the song home

Fantasia--too much screaming and the Yeah yeahs are back UGH

Overall, I disagreed with the judges that last nite's show was the best so far.

The bottom three: John S., Jasmine and Diana or George

John S. will go with Jasmine as a close second

Don't flame me, but I enjoyed Jasmine's performance the most.
LaToya is nothing special to me, last night or any night.
Fantasia gave her least appealing performance.
Jennifer was ok, but she doesn't do anything for me.
Diana might go. She is very cardboard.
George was crappy, and his dorky manner doesn't do it for me.
Jon started good but became very dull. He might go, but I doubt it.
If they still do bottom three, I'd guess Diana, Jon and either George/Jennifer/Fantasia. D and J bottom 2, Diana goes.

Now maybe Im in the minority (or maybe not cuz I wasn't about to sit here and read everyone's thingies) but I thought that almost everyone did well tonight or better than usual. Im only going to have one person on my bad list.

The Goods
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Latoya: She'll never be on my bad list. The girl can blow.
2) Jennifer: Probably the best performance of the night. She is starting to sound really good. Now if only she can get that weave straight in the back.
3)Diana: Im not sure why everyone is putting her in the bad list but I thought she was absolutely wonderful. That girl can hold a high note. She's terribly good for being so young.
4) Jasmine: I thought she did really well too. She doesn't need to push for those high notes so much though
It was just aight for me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5) Fantasia: she really churched up a Manilow song and I wasn't impressed although she sang it well.
6)John: I can't believe he's not on my bad list for once. I didn't think he did a horrible job this time. Mandy was the song for him.

Ewww not good
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7) George: I hate to put him here cuz I love him and I don't want him to leave anytime soon. He messed up that song. He tried to add way too much to it and it sounded really bad. I was confused the whole time.
Nicole's Ideal Bottom 3 based on performance: George, Fantasia, John--John being sent home for lack of consistency. Fantasia the first one safe
Probable Bottomw 3: John, Diana, Jasmine--Diana the first one safe and John being sent home.
AAccckk! My AI veiwing was constantly being interrupted by Tornado Warning Bulletins! Couldn't they have waited until the end of the show? Because of this, most of the performances were all chopped up. Gonna review them anyway, in no particular order.
Fantasia - I like her. Yes, she's arrogant and cocky, but as I have learned, where there is arrogance, there is USUALLY a reason for it. It's just something you have to put up with in order to enjoy the talent. I don't have to live with her or deal with her on a personal basis, so it's not really my issue. I really enjoyed her gospel version last night. She seems assured and professional. She is young but is ready for a career in show business, even if she doesn't become the next AI. I think Simon has compared her to Aretha Franklin, but she consistently reminds me of Eartha Kitt (am I showing my age?). Eartha was a great stage performer, as Fantasia is, and something about their voices seems similar.
LaToya - Good singer, no personality, but I think that she will win AI.
Jennifer - I really like Jennifer, I have been voting for her all along. She gets better and prettier every week. Her very large frame and big head and face give her oodles of natural stage presence -- she doesn't even need her over the top mannerisms to keep the audience, but I guess that they are part of her personality. She doesn't even seem to be aware that she is doing it. I just hope that she remains consistent. I liked her performance a lot, and I would be very pleased if she became the next AI. You Go, hometown girl! She is this year's Kimberley Locke.
Diana - I like Diana, but I know that she has been performing since she was small, and she seems to have developed her stiff performance style quite a while ago and that it may be very, very difficult for her to change it right now. I would like for her to stick around for a little while though, as she appears to have an interesting racial/ethnic mix in her and I would like to find out what it is.
Jasmine - Cute young girl, big voice, not mature enough to complete with the divas at this point.
George - He was good at first, but lately, I don't think too much about him. I don't think he will make it to the final 5. Perhaps gone even this week.
Red - I liked him at first, but he is too limited. He has the kind of very young female fans that have oodles of time to spend dialing and dialing and dialing for him, and he probably inherited a lot of JPL's votes, too. I think it is SO important for these young girls to have somebody to coo over (George is way too mature-looking for them...) that they will do whatever they have to to keep him in another week. Last night, when he looked directly into the camera at the end of his song, I knew there would many fans squealing and dialing their sweet little fingers off for him. He's got sex appeal, even if he doesn't have talent. And yes, he reminds me of Stan Laurel, too. Not a feature for feature resemblance, but the overall build and manner and look and similiar to Laurel's. Why would anyone be insulted at such a comparison? Laurel was a VERY talented and successful comedian -- uh oh, am I showing my age again?
MMMk so another night of over the top singers woot!(*pathetic sarcasm) Everyone did ok last night with the exception of some
The D3 (LaToya Jennifer Fantasia) All did well once again, well I kinda take that back I thought Fantasias performance was way over the top, and whats up with her family? Were they there but just in a different room, or at home or what?
I think there is a snake in the grass waiting to strike on the D3 and her name is Diana DeGarmo, if she were only older! Seriously though, she is the best singer left minus the D3, IMO of course!
Jasmine did well, I just can't bring myself to like her, she is very good just not special enough, I am sure Hawaii has bigger talent then this. I mean come on they gave us JONAH ehhhhhh
George was TERRIBLE, I will admit that I don't like him much but I thought he was good early in the competition, but he was really bad tonight
John is consistently bad, and hearing him sing Mandy and having reach out his hand at the end of the song had me cringing and then laughing histarically at this lackluster performance
MY Bottom 3:Jasmine John George
Americas: Diana John George (*alternate Jasmine)
Going Home:John or Diana (although she doesn't deserve to go this week)
Y'know, I thought everyone was just a'ight last night. It was an okay episode, but kind of dull. Nobody was horrible, nobody was great.
Diana - I thought she was just okay. I was making jewelry and eating dinner while watching AI and I honestly did not look at the tv once during her performance.
George - I still like George and I didn't think he was that bad last night. It wasn't as good as some of his earlier performances though. He needs to get back to some upbeat songs.
Jennifer - I've liked Jennifer from the start and was surprised to see her in the bottom 3 so much at the beginning. Kind of reminds me of K.Lo last year. Jennifer set her bar a few weeks back and she's staying consistent, but the power ballads are going to get old after awhile.
Jasmine - Definitely her best performance since week 1. If she could stay consistent, she'd be more of a contender.
LaToya - Speaking of power ballads...Another solid, predictable performance. It could be worse.
John - Undoubtedly his best performance thus far. My fiance and I both commented how much better he sounded this week, although he lost it at the end. Still, a boring performer with little stage presence.
Fantasia - Her stage presence is not an issue at all. I go back and forth on Fantasia. This week, she was just okay. Solid, nothing real exciting to see, although I thought her interaction with her daughter was sweet at the end.
Bottom 3 predictions: Diana, George, John with John getting the boot.
59. "RE: Week 6- Best and Worst"
Checking in a little late, but here are my notes:
First let me say that I am a HUGE Manilow fan. I think he is soooooo talented! However, as a judge, he totally sucked #####! Quentin Tarentino was sooooo much better and I actually wish they'd have him replace Paula!
Okay....my notes:
01- Diana DeGarmo - why did she keep calling him "Mr. Barry"? Was that supposed to be endearing? I thought it was annoying! And what was up with her Carol Brady pantsuit thing? Eeek! Her performance was better than last week, and the song was more appropriate for her. She was good, but not great.
02 George Huff - YUCK! Dude! Settle down! It's such a great song all by itself, why distract from it with all those crappy runs that didn't fit? I HATED this! And I feel bad, because I like George.
03- Jennifer Hudson - HOOOORAY!!!!!!!!! My favorite keeps getting better and better every week! I thought she showed amazing control and subtlety at the start and then BAM, she hit me over the head with this AMAZINGLY POWERFUL chorus! Chills baby! I LOVE JENNIFER!!!!
04- Jasmine Trias - This is the best she has ever done! I thought she did a really nice job in comparison to previous shows.
05 - LaToya London - Know what? I didn't think she did all that great. Yes, Simon may be right in that she may be the best singer in the competition.....but she didn't make me go "WOW" this week.
06 - The Evil Red-headed Stepchild Who Shall Not Be Named - WTF? Is this some cruel sick joke? The one contestant I absolutely CANNOT STAND is singing MY song??????????????
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! My word, he is just so BAD and so BORING. Blech blech blech. Very pitchy chorus. Make him stop! OMH, I love Simon...."Mandy fell asleep"! Best quote of the night! LMAO! I do think he was kind of mean to make the Stan Laurel comparison (but he's right!) Poor kid didn't even know who that was!
07 - Fantasia Barrino - well....she totally made the song her own, and I liked the rendition until she had to throw in that #$*&%&% "yeah yeah yeah" thing AGAIN! STOP STOP STOP!!! Her daughter is beautiful, but I resented her being brought up on stage....poor kid must have been frightened. It bugged me when whatshis face from last season played the kid card and it bugs me now.
So.....of course you all know my fave is Jen. Second fave performance was Jasmine because she was just soooo improved. Then Fantasia, then LaToya , then Diana, then George (I *like* LaToya more than Fantasia and George more than Diana, but I'm just talking performances) and of COURSE there is NO PLACE but the very BOTTOM for the kid who murdered MY song!
Can't wait to see who gets the boot! *hopes for the Mandy-Murderer*
MM Maybe this world is another planet’s hell
