Every time I see him I'm impressed all over again by how much weight he's lost. What was it, 100 pounds? He looks sooo much better. But. It seems like he's trying too hard this season to be a Simon clone. Last season he seemd to have his own 'style' of judging. He was kind of the happy medium, the constructive one, between Paula's optimistic sweetness and Simon's jaded sour. Now he just seems like he's competing with Simon to be insulting to folks he doesn't care for. ***

I have caught the same thing and thought I was the only one. He seems to have lost any patience he once may have had along with the extra weight. I used to think that under all the "Wassup, dawg," etc. that he sometimes had constructive things to say. Now he does seem to be trying to compete with Simon for the "Which Judge Can Be Meaner?" prize. Not that some of these no-talents don't deserve it!

Yeah, I agree too but considering last week's episodes, I couldn't think of anything nice to say either. To be in the third round and to suck that bad is not cool.

I haven't noticed that he is any meaner/nicer than he was last year. I'm not so impressed with the weightloss since all he did was have surgery. It's not like he engaged some willpower, got off his butt exercised and controlled what he put into his mouth.

He had gastric bypass surgery. Which can actually explain his crankiness. His will to eat food is still there, but his stomach is no longer big enough to let him eat it.
