Randy: thought it started oK but then went off tune, was a mess.Paula: It's a hard song to sing, the pitch was a bit off, not nearly as bad as Randy is saying. Simon: Like Randy taking part in a 100 m sprint, i.e. 3/4 of the way you ran out of steam. Middle part you lost it, started out fine.

Oh, give me a break. The reason that Simon found her outfit "distracting" has nothing to do with a salmon colored top. He was distracted because he doesn't think a woman her size should wear a short that skirt. He should come out and say that- I thought he was supposed to be the honest one. *rolls eyes*I thought she looked good. I liked her top! And while I would never wear a skirt that short, I don't think it looked bad on her.

I do love Lakisha. I disagree with Simon; I think it was a good choice for her - I liked that she came out last week and blew the doors off, and this week, she showed the softer shade of her abilities. I liked seeing something different, but no less powerful and controlled.

I find her very likeable and I thought she did a nice job with this song. Not great - but certainly good. I find myself contrasting her with the other 17-year-old in the competition, Sanjaya. She seems so much more confident, and it comes across in her performance. He hasn't quite mastered that confidence, yet, and it shows.

I liked it, a lot. The song fit her and she fit the song nicely. There's as much personality as there is voice coming out in her song. While she's not quite (almost) at the level of Lakisha and Melinda, she's probably the best of the rest.

I don't know the song, but the phrasing of it seemed really odd to me. Like she and the background music were out of sync or something. Really dislike this song. The talky stuff just sounds weird. Like there are too many lyrics.Stephanie's good - but bad song choice, and she wiffed on her "big" note in the middle, and sank out of pitch on the "big" note at the end. If you're running out of breath, cut it off. She's probably safe for a while, but I think she'll fade behind Melinda, Lakisha & Jordin eventually.

HEY! More jazz!Hey, didn't AJ sing this last night? I'm ok with that. I really like her voice - she's a totally different type of singer than the 'divas' though, and I'm afraid that she'll be lost amongst the belters. Like in figure skating, when people think the jumps are the most important thing - with singing some people think louder & bigger is always better. I actually kinda agreed with Paula's ice cream analogy, but disagree with Simon - that wasn't vanilla.

Is it just me or does it seem that this season has four very distinctive tiers of calibre?Tier 1 - Lakisha, Melinda, Stephanie, Jordin, and Sabrina. OMH - I just realized that they are all persons of pigment.....wow.
Tier 2 - Many of the rest of the girls...Gina, Leslie, Haley.
Tier 3 - all of the guys.
Tier 4 - Alaina and Antonella. I really believe that any of the Tier 1 could be our winner - they can knock them out of the ball park. The rest.....notsomuch.

I wouldn't lump all of the guys that low - but I understand what you're saying.I think the problem alot of these singers are going to bump into is that it's very hard to shine next to a strong belter. I said it above somewhere too - but bigger & louder doesn't always equal better. (though Lakisha & Melinda are clearly fabulous) That's why guys like Chris S. & Blake are doing well to pick songs that aren't about money notes. If people consider them for over all sound/quality/entertainment - not just how big their voices are, some of the guys are really good. You know - size doesn't matter. heh.
