Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, Chris finally sings a ballad. He admits this type of song is difficult for him as he's accustomed to 'rocking it out'. Shame, he should do it more often, he's doing an admirable job.1-866-IDOLS-01. Judges' comments: Randy, for everyone who thought there wasn't another side, showed his sensitive side, was da bomb. Paula, proven that he is in to win, broke whatever mold Simon may have thought he was in. Simon, takes a little credit for that performance, has told Chris for a while to change his style, thought was a great performance.

Well. Bo opened the door. Without Bo we wouldn't have a Chris or a Bucky. I love Bo, believe me. I just happen to like Chris's style more. Maybe because I like the alt rock style. But I think a lot of why I like him is because he's so cool about not compromising. His answer on the results show last week was pure Chris and pure cool. Bo compromised. A LOT. When he puts out an album that sounds like Bo, I'll let you know who I like more. Another Bo-related shocker from me: While I still consider myself a Bo Ho, I am way more in love with Bucky than I ever was with Bo. And Bucky is far and away by eons my favorite.idol.contestant.ever. And I hope he shakes that "idol contestant" tag real soon. And I think he will. He's the best thing I've ever seen on this show and for that I'll never abandon AI. All this aside, Simon made a comment a buncha weeks ago "Thank God for Chris." He should have said "Thank God for Bo" instead.

Very restrained tonight in dress and decorum. The girl is channeling Billie Holliday, I swear. How does that voice come out of that little girl? What she wants to, she's fabulous! 1-866-IDOLS-02. Judges' comments: Randy, you should stand proud, her greatest night ever, every note in tune, a classy, great performance. Paula, what's brilliant is this reminds them why they fell in love with her during auditions. Simon, stylish, cool, bewilders him because she speaks like Minnie Mouse but sings like that, was terrific.

I'm a Taylor Hicks fan myself, so this isn't meant as a dis', but it seems that he never chooses lyrically challenging tunes. Similar to an earlier piece, this song seemed to have an endless supply of repeated phrases of 3 words or less. Overly repeated lyrics gets under my fur, even when sung by Bono. I dug his ending, though. And even though I don't have an ounce of fashion sense, I thought he looked hot in his suit.

LAST EDITED ON 04-18-06 AT 10:39 PM (EST)Overall, I really enjoyed tonight's performances. I loved all of the guys, and thought Katharine was very good also. My bottom two are definitely Paris and Kellie for the night. My favorite line of the show was without a doubt what Simon said to Kellie. I was rolling when he told her to forget the Bewtiched and Bothered, but she was definitely Bewildered. Also, did I hear correctly, Kellie did not understand at first that song lyrics and words were the same thing?

You did hear it correctly, Greeneyes... she did not understand that words and lyrics are the same thing. Did you catch her idiocy last week? Simon said that on paper it didnt seem like the song she sung was a good idea, so she interrupts him and asks, "on paper?"-- like she didnt understand the concept of their song choices being printed on a piece of paper for the judges to review. So Simon just quit talking and told her to forget about whatever he was about to say because it was over her head. I just wait for something ridiculous to come out of her mouth, and this week it was the words/lyrics comment. Fingers crossed that she gets the boot tonight. If she's acting stupid, then the act is tired. If she really is that stupid, then i dont want to have to hear her when she hits the talk show/radio circuits if she wins american idol. And what was up with Paula saying she cant wait for her to start acting?

Cleaned up in a suit and tie. What is with his hair? I expected a ponytail. Looks like a librarian's bun. Once again with the falsetto. Meh. Judges' comments: Randy, had a problem in the middle but brought it out in the end. Paula, interesting to see a new Ace, it's a magical night, he did great. Simon, it wasn't bad, was a little nasal in the middle, but a charming performance. 1-866-IDOLS-06.

Ace seems like a personable guy, and I really like his smile (too bad his hair is frequently hanging in his face). I definitely don't think he's the worst left in the competition (Kellie and Paris), but I believe he will be going tomorrow.

LAST EDITED ON 04-18-06 AT 08:51 PM (EST)1-866-IDOLS-07 Judges' comments: Randy, this is her element, loved it, was excellent. Paula, feels like watching her for the first time, picked the perfect song. Simon, thinks she made the others look like good amateurs, in a completely different league, looked a returning pro, so much better than the others. etf: phone number

Huge crush, her and Chris were by far the best tonight. Tonight just shows how far ahead of the other two girls she actually is. I hope she gets third or fourth, not because I don't want to see her do other songs, but I don't want her (and Chris) tied up by AI.

I think her performance was mostly very good. I just wish she'd stay out of the higher ranges because it doesn't sound as good to me. However, she's very pretty and is far better than any of the other females have been.

55. "my thoughts" |
I'm in a seminar all day tomorrow so I'm putting my thoughts/rankings/will go should go, here1. Chris--WOW he did it, he didn't have to imho but he did it and now Simon can shut up about indulgence and Chris can go back to what he does best. But what was up with the clothes..the ascot under the shirt and the vest...so much better last week. He should have worn a suit 2. Katherine-She had the best song choice of the nite (not the best song but most appropriate). She sang very well and it was her best nite. She doesn't get no. 1 bc Chris did just as well (or even a little bit better) OUT of his element. 3. Elliott-I LOVE THIS SONG!! He did a great job very good vocal. But he still doesn't have IT yet, it's closer, but Simon was unfortunately right about him having to worry. I've been TRYING to vote for him and can't get thru yet. 4. Ace-at first, I was "what did he do with his hair" but then I saw the pony tail and saw he was doing a Steven Segal. He looked good in the suit and he sounded better tonite than any other except for Father Figure which was his best nite ever. I thought he could have picked a better song to sing to the "girls" but he did well. 5. Taylor-I think I'm the only one that HATES this song. Taylor did better tonite than in many weeks, but the end was not superb for me it was too much he's such a spaz 6. Paris--I did not like this song choice..she could have done a better one. And the dress just did not go with the song...I thought she should have been in a black dress and laying on a piano!! I thought it was just a meh vocal 7. Kellie--could this be the week...could it? SHe did look great and I think Larry will probably give her DIVA OF THE WEEK...but it was horrendous esp. from the middle on... Should be in Bottom 3 Kellie Paris Taylor Should go Kellie Will be in the Bottom 3 Elliott Ace Kellie Will go Elliott I hope I am wrong and Kellie or Paris actually go...I'll keep trying to vote for Elliott!

First let me say- THANKS ALL EC FOLKS FOR THE INFO BEFORE WE WEST COASTERS GET THE SHOW!!Why do they allow Paula to speak? why are they allowing her to come bk? good God she is a moron!! I may actually vote tonite-- 1st time all season.. I think the first 4 performances- Chris, Paris, Taylor and Elliot were very good.. Song choice for Paris not the best because people do not know the song BUT she can sing her tiny ##### off.. Chris, nice to see the change, Taylor- doing what he does and Elliot- great voice but not enough personality.. Kellie- SUCKED but she wont be in the bottom 3 because she is blonde, skinny and plays stupid very well-- she fits the stereotype nicely and people seem to think thats ok...I wish she would go.. Ace ws ok tonite.. dont know what was up with the hair and I agree with someone who asked WHY DOES HE ALWAYS have to do the falsetto thing??? Its annoying.. I also didnt like the arrangement of that song.. its one of my favorites and really do not like they way he chose to sing it.. I think Ace needs to go.. he should have left weeks ago.. Ace's brother- HOTTIE!! put him on stage just to look at! 8) Kathy hasnt performed yet. Not sure who bottom 3 will be but if Ace and Kellie are in it, I guess I Would vote for Ace to go.. but God Kellie does get on my nerves

well, I was really, really disappointed in Katherine's rendition of Someone to Watch Over Me.. really disappointed. anyway, Chris and Taylor were excellent, Paris was very good but I think that she doesn't feel the song. Elliott was OK but I agree with Simon that he doesn't have a lot of personality. I think they were kind to Ace because of that Queen thing and how they misrepresented the conversation between Brian May and Ace.. Kelly was just plain terrible but as usual she won't be voted off because she is cute and personable. no guesses on bottom three, just don't care since Bucky left.

Oh I do. I find her quite interesting, on a psychological and personality level. she's not a simpleton, and it's just too easy to dismiss her and what she does and says with simple labels, you know?
even Jay Leno said something like that to her on his show last week. I forget his actual words, but he basically told her she's not "normal," lol, which he then clarified is a GOOD thing. (maybe that wasn't his actual word, but I think it was. something like that anway!) I'm not normal either, thank god. Simon has actually said some observant things about her, over the years and recently too. He clearly is fond of her, although apparently most of his public demonstrations of that -- hugs and the like -- happen off camera. People who attend the tapings usually have anecdotes about that. Most the disses he zings at her during interviews and talk-show appearances are inside jokes too. he has his set of one-liners he always trots out.

LMAO!!! thats a good one... who knows she may want to date you and buy you nice clothes... 8) Since I do not know if you are male or female, I honestly dont think it matters with Paula... just wish she would stop talking or stop taking her medication RIGHT BEFORE THE SHOW..
