FSUGUY 447 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Daytime Soap Guest Star" 05-28-04, 11:59 AM (EST) "AI4 auditions.....ALASKA! ----- NOOOOOO !!!" Nothing against Alaska, but, we saw the problems with voting due to Hawaii's timezone difference with.....I already forgot about her... will we have a repeat problem? do they have a new voting procedure??? here's the other audition sites from fox: Alaska, Cleveland, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Orlando, St. Louis, Washington, DC and possibly more!   Top

Not to state the obvious, but the location of the auditions really are meaningless. Didn't JPL follow them to Hawaii where he finally got a pass to Hollywood? Someone from my hometown area also flew to Hawaii for auditions, and i'm in teh Midwest. And i repeat again - they DON'T need a new voting procedure. geekboy   Top

I think the odds increase because most people won't pay $1000 to fly there,etc... just to try out. So, You'll have more locals show up....and then move on to hollywood. But, you'll have people get in their car and drive 500 miles to different places to try out. So, I think there is some advantage to at least getting to L.A. and making the final 32...then the voting takes over and gets them into the final 12.   Top

Actually the only person I think this year that came to the Top 12 from their home state was Jasmine, I may be wrong. John Stevens may have auditioned in New York??? Anyway, I would think if I thought I had enough talent to make it, I would invest the money in a plane ticket and fly to Anchorage because I am sure there will be less people to contend with. Not only did jon Peter Lewis audition in Hawaii but so did Diana DeGarmo. I think in smaller venues, you have a better chance of getting noticed. I am sure New Orleans will be one of the largest as far as auditions, its close to a lot of cities and fairly cheap to get to as for air or car. Also, the rejects who get insulted may have to make trips over to Bourbon streeet to drown their sorrows.   Top

Alaska will be funny to watch, I just don't think as many people will just happen to be vacationing in Alaska and drop in to try out, as was the case in Hawaii. I hope alot of cooky locals show up and make the first 2 shows worth watching. It would also be nice to find some Jewel like talent there as well.   Top

They have D.C. that is a fairly large place I would like to think. Airfare is cheap here and it is within close driving range of lots of places from NY to SC and west.   Top

Alaska is only one hour behind pacific standard time, which covers the west coast of the U.S. so it won't create the same degree of advantage that Hawaii did, being 4-5 hours behind P.S.T. and having the phone lines all to itself.   Top

I just read in our newspaper that Idol has changed their fricken minds and won't be coming to Alaska after all. I think this is the worst kind of behavior by any reality show! We have many talented folks here and many have been spending money and time getting ready for a "one time shot at fame" and then the producers pull this crap! Thanks to the producers for taking the opportunities away from our artisits! You don't deserve to share in our talent pool anyway. I am thankful I was not one of the hopeful performers. I just hope that the whole darn audition in Fla. (where they decided to go instead of Alaska) gets washed away with yet another passing storm! One very upset resident of the state.   Top
