hey...tons of stuff didn't make the show...kinda too much to think of one thing...katie was a constant source of annoyance for the other cast members...I thought bribs and heather were gonna hook up for sure but I guess the money got in the way. Al was always histerical..what a great guy..total family man....bribs was also a cool guy...one thing that didn't get much airtime was how much bribs loved his mom...they were great ttogether...heathers fiance was creepy...wanted to be on tv too much for my taste...more later...

i agree with you, bubsy. i am not sure if ABC let their staffs talk about the show. based on what i read from player's interview, they don't really like to talk about much that's not shown on tv. hey, what do i know. i thought heather was the mole.

Two questions for you:1. Did you know who the mole is??? If you didn't, who did you think it was? 2. How did Heather get so turned around during the GPS Game. It seemed pretty easy to me (as well as Dorothy and Bill), so I don't really understand why she walking in circles like that. ----------------------------------- Quotes of the week: 1. "Al, do you think you could move just a little?"-Myra 2. "Ewww... Patrick, no... I don't want to see that."-Heather 3. funny stuff...yes I was the mole...no the boar incident wasn't fake...she was freaking out..I believe she thought that we were going to help her out ...ya know...show her the way...but we are strictly forbidden...It doesn't matter to me whether or not folks want to believeI worked on the show....I just loved the show...working and watching...although I am not encouraged about the prospects for a Mole 3... Yes Heather was religious...just not absurdly so...she was quite sweet... The best thing about working on the show was travelling to all of those awesome locations....really neat...now that the show is over I can speak about...during the show however...I am bound to not revealing any info by a 10 million $$ liability clause... during filming the crew does not know who the mole is...though we are all constantly guessing...it was fun to play along no comment about heathers fiance...

My fav game was the Gladiator...for several reasons...first...visually it was cool with the costumes and all..plus we shot it on the site of an ancient roman arena in the town of Lucca...secondly the towns folk really loved seeing the players walking through the narrow streets in costume...thirdly it was because the players got such a kick out of it...it was fun to watch them get into it so much...though the gnome home was also pretty funny...the lack of locals ie. the evader game was mostly from good camera work as well as good editing although the towns were surprisingly quiet...I thinks they could care less about any american tv show...we did have occasional run ins with american tourists who would recognize Anderson... by the way I think Bill made an excellent mole...fooling most of the crew and obviously the cast as well... I did think however that the hidden clues were very sublime...i don't know who possibly could have picked up on them...
also the Pizza game was fun to film...I doubted they would manage but they did...myra really was a good player...I wish she would have done better...you know she is an Airline pilot? awesome...more later as my baby needs me

LAST EDITED ON 08-13-02 AT 02:17 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 08-13-02 AT 02:17 PM (EST) That's the point. I haven't read anything he/she has posted that is something that wasn't basically shown in the show. For example: "My fav game was the Gladiator...for several reasons...first...visually it was cool with the costumes and all..plus we shot it on the site of an ancient roman arena in the town of Lucca...secondly the towns folk really loved seeing the players walking through the narrow streets in costume...thirdly it was because the players got such a kick out of it..." Anyone who watched that episode could tell you this. It's vague, and it certainly gives zero "behind the scenes" insight. I'll reserve judgement on the validity of this person's claims until later (as in, give him/her a chance to prove himself better than this); but as of now, he/she has shown me nothing to make me take this at face value.

LAST EDITED ON 08-13-02 AT 02:38 PM (EST)>Anyone who watched that episode could >tell you this. It's >vague, and it certainly gives >zero "behind the scenes" insight. Could that perhaps be because the question that was asked had nothing to do with "insights" -- the poster was asked what was their favorite game. >I'll reserve judgement on the validity >of this person's claims until >later (as in, give him/her >a chance to prove himself >better than this) Frankly, I've never understood this type of attitude... how are are they going to "prove themselves" -- by providing "behind the scenes" info? ...and how are you going to validate the validity of any such info? If the poster were to say tomorrow that Heather and Bribs were hooking up during filming, then suddenly he'd be legit in your mind??? Why? Frankly I put more confidence in the legitimacy of someone like this than the type of poster who comes out of nowhere with claims of earth shattering inside info. You seem to have created a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" scenario for yourself -- if the poster doesn't reveal any behind the scenes info then they are a fraud... and if they do reveal inside information, then they are also a fraud... because again, other than their own word, what evidence do you have to believe them? -SB

24. "Cameramen" |
During the second week of Survivor 1, someone posted on SurvivorSucks that he had been a cameraman in Pulau Tiga but had been fired, and he gave a list of the early boots (up to his firing) that proved to be 100% correct. He also told us that there was a rumor that a contestant won four straight challenges after he left, which most of us doubted but which also turned out to be true (it was Kelly Wigglesworth; he didn't know that).Since then, there have been two types of "cameraman" posts: 1. Like gmbott, there is no way to tell whether or not the person is legitimate. If the person really is a cameraman, he probably doesn't want to lose his job, so all he can provide are a few general comments. Legit? Not legit? Who can tell? Does it matter? I can tell you all that I saw posts (on another site) by someone that we were able to verify WAS a crew member on another reality TV show ... and we learned very little, including NOTHING about the show's cast, from him (but we learned a lot about the logistics, which are important for Survivor but not very important for The Mole). Remember, ESPECIALLY on The Mole, the cast and crew are kept separate, and the crew knows very little (NOT TRUE for Survivor, due to the presence of hidden coalitions and the constant cameraman-survivor interactions). 2. Unlike gmbott, the person has some "bombshell" that he or she wants to drop on us. EVERY ONE of these posts that I've seen has turned out to be a fake, with the exception of the very first one back on SurvivorSucks. We know that gmbott is not in this group. But is he really a cameraman? I doubt we'll ever know.

To me, it sounds like this person is lying. He is giving so-called "behind the scenes insights" that anybody who watched the show could tweak to sound as if they were actually on location. Also, this person is giving some pretty random facts, such as it snowed 6 inches when we were in Switzerland. Somebody who is lying and wants to sound truthfull will put random facts that have a lot of detail to sound like they know what they are talking about.

Well, I have had no trouble believing gmbott. First, his story and situation seem credible. Second, he's not trying to sell anything here, just share his own enthusiasm for the show. I applaud that, honestly, and it costs me nothing to accept this poster at face value. That said, I would like to take this opportunity to compliment the crew of Mole 2. Some reality shows, while intriguing and interesting, seem to excell in awful production values. From what I saw (admittedly, I didn't see everything), Mole 2 was a wonderful, professional presentation, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the program. SMILES ARE FREE

Except for me... really I am a buff, elite triathlete not a weekend wannabe like you may have first thought. The fun on these boards is to take all the kernels of info and parse through until we have our own idea of what is going on. I mean, the tape on the bag was the best clue ever! Bring in on gmbott.

1. What was your favorite moment of the show that never made it on-air? I'm sure a lot of funny suff couldn't be shown.2. Was the camera work difficult or pretty easy during most challenges? Some challenges we could hear the cameramen huffing and puffing from running. Others were pretty stand still. 3. Do you feel any of the players were depicted any differently than they actually acted before editing??? Those are my Q's for now... ----------------------------------- Quotes of the week: 1. 38. "RE: New Questions" |
I only have a couple of minutes til I pick my daughter up from school, but let me try to answer a few questions...most everybody was depicted on the show in an accurate manner as they are in real life... most of the games were physically easy, with a few exceptions, but were logistical challenges ie. several cameras shooting and trying not to accidentally shoot the same shot (happens all the time) on the games where running wereinvolved we switched from beta cams (40lbs) to mini dv cams (2-3 lbs) still on the last game I could be heard breathing very hard. Mind you I was trying to always keep ahead of heather for good shots. hard to predict where she was going to go. my fav moment off air was just the littany of sarcastic remarks Anderson kept making..I mean he liked the show but remember he is a veteran newsman now doing a reality show. His sanity washeld together by his wit. On the big john game (log over water thing) the cast threw him into the freezing cold alpine lake...was very funny. Also katies fear of jelly was pretty amusing. I worked on Real World New Orleans, as that is where I am from. That led to the RR vs. RW extreme challenge..and other things. I also do movies, actually 80 % of the time, so reality shows are a small part of my work, but the let me travel the most..combined in the last 3 yrs i have been to europe 5 times, all for reality shows. I also worked on O' Brother Where Art Thou? which is one of the better films i have ever worked on Dorothy is in a band in NY city and will now put 636k to good use I suppose more later folks...I am enjoying reliving this show through this message board... someone asked about accomodations on the road...more later

Here's why I don't believe you at all...1. all the things you say about the players are not specific at all. Bribs is a nice guy, Al is funny, Heather's sweet, Dorothy's smart. Umm okay. That's not very convincing. 2. You are not at all detailed about the games. You said Gladiator was your favorite, but you didn't add anything to it but what we, at home, saw. 3. You said exactly what Cooper said about how you didn't know the mole to the end. That's the same way he phrased it in his interview on the ABC website. 4. You said you were there when Heather got attacked by the boar and were laughing. I would think you wouldn't laugh if a giant boar was chasing you and another contestant. 5. If Heather was so sweet, why didn't you talk to her? Nothing connects. It's all broad. You offer no details except what's in the execution interviews and AC interviews on ABC site. I may be skeptical, but I definitely do not buy it at all.

I am suprised at the level of skepticism in the postings by gmbott. Why not enjoy it? I love getting the inside scope on how the show was produced. I recall that MTV produced an hour long show several years ago on how they put together a road rules show....one of the very early editions. The "how to" show was far more interesting than Road Rules. I bring a "welcome" to anyone who wants to share their experiences, and if the reader has somehow been duped....so be it. My questions for gmbott is were any contestants really annoying? If so, what made them annoying? When someone was executed, and they had to leave immediately, were they put on a plane home, or were they banished to a resort to hang out?

And Bob, Ali, Lisa, Patrick, Rob, Myra, Elavia, and Katie coming home so early surely wouldn't reveal anything. I'm so sure that after Bob came home after 3 days his family thought there was a possibility of him winning or being the Mole. I could have sworn I read somewhere that every player was sequestered until taping finished. I think thats why they always do the family member challenge when half of them have been executed because I think they do a mock challenge with the executed players so they can see their family also.

I believe that you are legit. In any event, a few questions -- do you know which reality show Katherine, last year's mole, is working on now? (She mentioned it in her final episode summary). And, in the final quiz, Dorothy beat Heather by one question -- do you know how many they each got right out of the 20? The people that got eliminate early -- how many questions were they typically getting wrong? All of them? When was the finale filmed?

hey mikey,I dont know where catherine is working, probably on another stone stanley show..they have several shows in production... I also dont know how many questions heather or dorothy got right on the final quiz..i suspect around 12- 14..the quizes were very hard even of you knew who the mole was...very specific questions... lastly, i think the earliest players were missing a bunch of questions meybe only scoring perhaps 3-4 out of 20...i dont know though because all of those parts of the show ie rules and tests were tightly controlled buy the producers and lawyers...there are specific laws in california governing game shows for money, and they are followed to the letter. I must compliment the producing company, Stone Stanley on a well run show, never was there a feeling that any element of the show was out of control...the shows on site lawyer was a very compitent and nice man and did his job so well that the games went very smoothly.. I think the finale was filmed sometime mid spring, but I have no idea really cuz i didn't go to it.. it only required a small crew because it was a studio set up..thanks mikey...still crossing my fingers for a mole 3

This is AL. I don't know if this guy really worked on the show or not because there were so many people on the staff ( who were great by the way!). He was right about the snow, though. It was June 1 when I arrived in Scoul-Tarasp by train and it had already begun to snow! When we woke up the next morning, there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground. That would be a pretty good guess for someone that wasn't there. I read all boards all the time. You guys are killing me! especially you, Malibubarbie. Grease monkey? Thanks! Anyway, it has always been fun reading all your comments and I would be happy to answer any questions now that I can speak. As was posted on another board, my e-mail is nymole1@hotmail.com if you wish to send me a private e-mail. Otherwise, someone start a thread and I'll do what I can to put to bed any questions you may still have.---AL

No , we never actually saw the boar. Just heard it very loudly! Apparently, the crew asked around to locals what it would have been (they thought it was a bear! ha ha) And everyone agreed it would have been a boar. No...no one was following us. We were deep, deep into the forest...which is why i flipped out like I did. I didn't want to quit..but I wanted them to tell me if we were in trouble. Obviously, I assumed that if we were in immediate danger, they would've led me off the wrong track - but I was wrong. Once we were safely at distance from the "thing"...we walked back up the road that we had been on, and we finally got some cell phone reception, and directed a car to where we were. The part that was edited out...the reason WHY i was even down that road, was that I ran into an American Family in a village nearby. I showed them my GPS and explained the game. They refused to give me a ride, but gave me directions. (Their family was from the area...and the Americans were quite familiar with the area). They told me the only way to "safely" i.e. on a road, to get to where i needed to go, was to take this dirt road. Obviously they were wrong! The reason I got so turned around is that the GPS tells you as the crow flies. Well, my "as the crow flies" was directly off a mountain! I though I was bein smart , trying to get around the mountain by rides etc. But i was wrong! Grrr...I wish i could do that game over! Anyhoo...the short answer is no, we never saw the boar, but yes - we were all (cameramen and me) in very real danger! Another little tidbit...once I got back to the secret location and the 3 of us were sitting by the candles while Anderson explained Bill's choice...my back caught on fire! Seriously. My jacket caught a flame from a burnign candle...and I went up in flames! One of the crew caught it in time..but that night was certainly not one of my high points in life!

Hey GMBott, what's this I heard on heather's radio interview that you were telling everyone that you could see the fangs, LOL... >Another little tidbit...once I got back to the secret location and >the 3 of us were sitting by the candles while >Anderson explained Bill's choice...my back caught on fire! I'm sorry, but knowing that everything turned out fine, this image had me in hysterics. One thing I did think was funny was how surprisingly little footage they showed of you explaining your boar story to Dorothy and Bill (after all, there was a reason that episode's summary was titled "When Animal-Sounding Things Possibly Attack..." or "Maybe Not, We're Not Sure, The Editing Sucked") All in all, it was very Blair Witch-y... -SB
