I was noticing that when everyone had their hands on the idol, Kim was the only one who could "grip" it. The guys had to just lay their hands on it. This would help greatly in trying to keep ones hand on an idol.

1. "RE: was kim given an advantage in the last IC?" |
Actually, women as a general rule have an advantage in endurance contests such as the hands on the idol immunity contest, it's one of the gender difference inherant in human beings. Women have a greater tolerance for pain and a higher capacity for ordeals of long endurance, theoretically this has been tied to giving birth. Other gender differences that have been noted, women tend to have more flexibility and better balance, men tend to be stronger and better spacially-oriented. In short, Kim may have had the advantage here no matter what. It should be noted that Keith only won the episode 7 (S2) endurance contest by convincing Tina to let him win in order that he have immunity (otherwise he would have been in danger of being voted off losing on the tie-breaker deadlock rule)."If all machines were to be annihilated at one moment, so that not a knife nor lever nor rag of clothing nor anything whatsoever were left to man but his bare body alone that he was born with, and if all knowledge of mechanical laws were taken from him so that he could make no more machines, and all machine-made food destroyed so that the race of man should be left as it were naked upon a desert island, we should become extinct in six weeks. A few miserable individuals might linger, but even these in a year or two would become worse than monkeys." (Samuel Butler, "Erewhon")

LAST EDITED ON 01-15-02 AT 08:27 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 01-15-02 AT 08:25 AM (EST) I would assume that they were allowed to grip wherever they liked, and MK just happened to pick the perfect spot.
What surprises me more is that they never changed position, as in S1. Maybe things would've ended up differently if everyone had had a chance to hang on like MK did. -Dark Lotus

I can't feel any sympathy for the guys if she did have an advantage. Most of the challenges are geared toward men anyways. In S1, the underwater hold your breath challenge favored men. Mens lungs are bigger and can hold more air. the first up were the women, then the older men and last up were Greg, Sean and Gervase.in S3 the breaking pots challenge was geared towards the men as were most of the physical challenges.
