Some "Cast"aways have their fans, some have their own Webpages and fansites! I propose this ONE little thread be devoted to Observations about Dicquie's strategies and commentary... but PLEASE... let's avoid the "fat" "homo" crap, it's been done to death already (in case the goons out there are unaware) I think D> is a network plant, inserted to create controversy, conflict and drama. As such, he has succeeded brilliantly! But, as such, his function nears an end- we can't very well have him WIN ! (that might alienate the wrong demographic grouping!)   Top

I think Rich did great for the fact that he caught all the fish.. The only thing I think he should have done differently was, he should have kept catching as many fish as possible, to fill their bellies, insted of holding out.. Who knows.. maybe it won't matter.. Dicque is AWESOME (tee-hee) I think Dicque is great. In fact - I have SOOOOOO much to say about this topic that I'm actually going to start my own "BIG ASS" thread about it here in a second. Too much to post as a reply to this. BOY, am I gonna get flamed! BTW, Vampkira, I disagree (just a little) w/what you said about the fish thing. But, as such, his function nears an end- we can't very well have him WIN ! I'm in agreement again, though I think the idea that Richard was a "plant" is something like the new "Mole" series. A lot of people feel Richard played the game to its hilt. He's been a perfect case to study for mob psychology. True, he's probably erred at times (like the walking around naked bit), but overall at least he's the ONLY one to be showing true strategy. I don't really feel he can't win because of demographics, I feel it's because of the way the "game" is set up. With TWO remaining Survivors (for the sake of argument let's call them Rich and Rudy), the one who has offended the lesser of the two will win the vote of the "jury". Well.. while Rich has been pushy, ol' Rudy has just been his kermudgeonly self. The vote goes to Rudy. In eight days from this writing we will know, won't we?   Top

Well, now we know Sean's on the jury... after painting himself as "Mr.NiceGuy". But it doesn't look good for Dicquie, he angered the snake spirits, and, in the grand old tradition of foreshadowing, there's trouble for Dicque in the next ep. And Rudie, you're coming across as a lot less noble and a lot more cranky. Somebody needs a nap!   Top

I'm not a Rich fan, but I think I can make intelligent observations without bashing him. First, I doubt he is a plant, because he seems too well versed in the ugly side of corporate politics, which isn't to say he actually practices them in real life, in fact he probably doesn't. Those who do only last until they run into someone who's better at it or piss someone off who's a rung higher on the ladder. Plus the fact that in most cases it's much harder to get someone fired than it is to vote someone off at tribal council. I don't fault him for admitting up front he was gay. While that may have turned a certain segment of the population against him, I'd like to think most people are mature enough to handle it without passing judgement. I think his biggest mistake, and what is really causing him problems in the media and on the boards is the constant gloating in front of the camera. If he had done everything exactly as he had, and kept his mouth shut, he could have maintained some semblence of integrity. He wouldn't have been called to carpet, not just once, but several times at tribal council. For that reason alone, I think that there is no way he possible he's going to survive the jury even if he does make it to the final two. (Unless Sue is the other one, and even then it is iffy) Pagong knows exactly who the leader of the alliance is, and in their eyes he's the guy who cost them a million bucks. Which makes my point: It's his own fault they know, and it's his own fault he's catching so much flak.   Top

Before the last episode I thought Rich was going to take it all. But I saw how bitter Sean was about being voted off & I'm beginning to think that when it comes down to the final two the jury's going to be all about revenge. I didn't think that before. I thought they would be fair & look at what the individual has actually done for the island - but now (after reading other posts & ep. 12) I do think it will just be "pay back" time.   Top

I think when Dicque was first interviewed his attitude came thru loud and clear and the producers thought "aha - we have found our villian!" I'm sure there was a formula for choosing players just as there are formulas for developing sitcoms. I'm also not convinced that the challenges are not fixed... not neccessarily fixed as to who will win - but more along the lines of fixed as to who will lose. Did anyone think Dicque would win the balancing challenge? What about walking on wobbly bamboo bridges? So while Dicque is toying with the survivors on the island, the producers are toying with Dicque. An example would be how often Jeff brought up alliance questions at TC or the fish that magically appeared in the trap after he bragged that only he was providing food. So keeping Dicque stressed out as much as possible = Dicque being more of a villian than he normally would. SB WooooHoooooo - I finally get to make a comment!!! LOL   Top
