"Any word on filming?"
Does anyone have any indications whether, given the mid-season replacement status, they are planning to film this summer or hold that til later?

I've not found anything. They could be filming already, even conceivably be done filming. Or they could wait for months yet to start filming, the way things worked out.

As a guess, I'd think they would try to be done filming before summer ends. They have a cast ready to run, the longer they delay or keep things up in the air the more problems they invite.

On the plus side, of course, is there's a good chance it won't be airing on Sundays anymore.

Isn't Phil on a small tour promoting/shooting his other show, "No Opportunity Wasted"?

Good point. The third season of NOW was scheduled to begin filming after a May casting tour, the premiere (CBC Canada) is slated for October. Phil's TAR hosting duties don't require a lot of screen time; it involves a lot of time and travel, of course. Logically, production should wrap on TAR12 before NOW3 airs.

From the TAR application

If selected as a participant, you and your teammate must be willing to travel to numerous locations around the world lasting approximately 30 to 40 days starting sometime in or around June - August of 2007.

No idea if they changed that, but given that Phil is a busy boy they probably didn't have a lot of flexibility (not to mention potential problems if they changed the time and someone then couldn't be on the show).

From MSNBC On-Line -- says a new season has reportedly already been filmed. (Hard to believe with no sightings on this board):

Q: When is the next season of Amazing Race scheduled to start — or is there going to be one this fall? —KJM, Oklahoma

A: Looking at the networks' fall schedules, many familiar reality shows appear: "Survivor," "Dancing With the Stars," even "The Bachelor." But one is missing: "The Amazing Race."

CBS has aired two seasons of the race almost every year since the race debuted in 2001, and for the past five seasons, they've stuck to a consistent pattern of debuting a new season ever fall and spring.

While that won't happen this year, the show has not been cancelled. In fact, a 12th installment has reportedly already been filmed.

Instead, CBS is holding that race for mid-season, which means it could appear in January or February. In recent years, the show's ratings have slipped and wavered, averaging about 10 million viewers an episode for the 11th season last spring. However, the Emmy-winning show has consistently delivered high-quality television, excepting the boring family season.

To refresh the series, there will be a few changes: The race will feature younger contestants, and it will drop the non-elimination legs. That means that, unless there's an extended, super-sized leg of the race, someone will go home every week. —A.D.
