Ahh... the power of Indians, as a fellow Indian I can say when I saw Lynn and Alex getting gyped, that made me and my dad laugh. Just yell extremely loud or F*** off!!! and they leave, but those drivers will go to anyways to make money. Not only if your white, but if you dont look like from the area, you get those looks and sights that you see in the episode

I don't think that it is unusual either. When you have visited a third world country, anytime you are in another third world country you will be making comparisons. It is not what we are used to, so we reference something else that we have experienced.
For Ron, himself and all other military, their experience in Iraq or in other places would be extremely memorable (for lack of a better term) and they will never forget it. I am actually glad that he does mention it, seems more healthy that way than to not mention it.
PS Marli thank your husband for me for serving and also thank you for performing the hardest job in the military... wife.From a former dependent.

Meredith/Gretchen depart 3:45 am. All the teams are on the same flight out of Africa. Gretchen says 'oh our bags are already on, thank you'. Bwahaha. Teams must travel to Francistown, Botswana. There they pick up their tickets to Mombai. Lynn/Alex borrow a cell phone to call a travel agent. Rob and Ron are talking to the agent to look at flights from Mumbai to Lucknow. The other teams are outside. Alex books a flight (6 tickets) that arrive at 9:35 am. Rob and Ron book 4 tickets on a flight that arrives 5 minutes earlier. Lynn/Alex ask the woman not to let anyone else use her phone, Rob asks the ticket agent not to book anyone else on the flight they booked. Ron is sure working with Romber on the airline tickets will make them a target of the other teams. Kelly comments that now that she and Ron are starting to win the other teams don't want to associate with them. The teams board their flight to Mumbai. Romber and Ron/Kelley board their flight with seconds to spare, the other teams are still in the airport. U/J and L/A talk about sharing with each other. Gretchen goes off to purchase a backpack but they're all too expensive. She asks for a senior citizen discount and find a backpack they can afford. The other 3 teams board their flight. They are flying to Mumbai via Delhi where they must find a palace for their clue. The first plane arrives at 9:44 am. R/K and R/A are hiring taxis and are now competing with each other. R/K departs first, their taxi stops for gasoline. The second flight arrives 9:52 am. They must go to a prepaid taxi stand, and find out 2 other temas have already arrived. U/J find a taxi stand inside for 330 rupees, they are being charged 400 rupees outside. U/J are in a taxi. L/A and M/G apparently are going to share a taxi, but are having difficulty communicating their desire to the taxi drivers. etf mode of transportation from Africa to India.

really don't understand the yield. There really is no point in using the yield unless you are 2nd-to-last or in a close three-way tie for last. No need to agitate teams if you aren't sure you will eliminate them. The problem is only made worse by the fact that TAR producers like to schedule Yields in non-elimination episodes.

R/A and R/K are neck and neck and talking about not yielding each other (to the partners). U/J arrive at palace, followed by L/A. M/G arrive. L/A hope R/A don't yield them.R/K arrive at Steel Emporium. They are first to yield mat. A Yield may be used only once by a team during the course of the race. R/K choose not to yield. R/A choose not to yeild. Roadblock: search 600 tin boxes for one of 10 containing a clue. Kelly and Amber are performing the task. They agree to holler if one of them finds one. Amber finds a clue (tee hee). Travel by cycle rickshaw 3 miles to Aishbagh, find a gas station to find next clue. Kelly finds her clue. R/K talk about the luck R/A have and they should have yielded them. U/J arrive at Steel Emporium and Uchenna performing task. L/A arrive, Alex to search for clue. Alex is shaking boxes to see if anything is in them. M/G arrive last. Gretchen performing task. Alex finds his clue. Uchenna finds his clue. Gretchen is kvetching the entire time she's looking through boxes. She stops for Meredith to give her a hug. Meredith tells her not to give up.

This is so awesome. The driving scenes are awesome. In Lucknow, you have to dodge cows, cows and more cows when driving. Westerners are stared at everywhere they go. You will see whole families on those scooters and all 4 of them will crane their necks to watch you walk down the street.
When they all had to cover, had any of them been wearing shorts, they would have had to put a "lungi" (I think that is how it is spelled). It is the skirt that the men wear India. Most of the time you see them tuck the hem into the waistband, giving the material a diaper like look.

Someone asks for Gretchen's autograph on the street. They are cheered on the street as they arrive at the gas station. They decide to do Liquid. The cheering crowd follows them down the street. Someone asks Meredith for his autograph. R/A find their 3rd business card. R/K have 3. U/J arrive at office building and obtain their first card. L/A arrive at office building and seek their first card. None of the workers are helping any of the teams.

The difference between this and Hungary of course is that the twist seems pre-planned. The initial plan in TAR6, according to a post-race interview with one of the racers, was that there would be a pit stop after the train station/internet cafe. Producers had to change that in the last minute when they found out that begging was outlawed in Hungary. If this really is two legs back to back (with no bunching! Bunching would defeat the purpose of a super leg), these racers perseverance and endurance will be tested. The other interesting thing to keep in mind would be that it would be extremely anti-climatic to turn a two-part episode into a non-elimination. I think we are assured an elimination next week, with a non-elimination week to follow.

Begging not allowed in Hungary?!! Maybe officially, which would be a problem with a production crew following you around drawing attention, I agree. But, come on... If begging isn't allowed someone needs to tell the Gypsy kids that were all over me in Budapest. I always learn at least a little of whatever the local language is. I concentrate on the polite and the necessary (toilet, beer, etc.) but learn at least one or two impolite phrases to use if necessary. Polite didn't work in that situation. Only time I can ever remember telling locals to fvck off in their vernacular. That worked (and I learned a few more impolite phrases from them while they were leaving <grin>).

Sure, the last place team won't get a penalty, but the penalty really is a sorry remedy to excuse the horror that is non-elimination episodes. The key of course is bunching. The producers have to make sure that this episode really does matter and has reprecussions on the second half of the leg. I have faith, perhaps misplace, that there will be no bunching next week. If this super leg is done properly, it will test these racers to the max and seperate the contenders from the bottom feeders.

At the beginning of the show, they actually were shown TOUCHING each other, and looking like they were enjoying each other's company. Did my eyes deceive me - was that a kiss???? of course, by the end....they were snapping at each other and looking frazzled. Nice to see that some things stay the same.

this leg was fantastic!! brought some old memories of India... it was so STUPID of Ron to use the analogy of the Lucknow street traffic as everyone getting out of Baghdad during the US bombing! That is normal street traffic in India, you should see it during lunch! Thats even worse than what they were in.
