Rob and Amber depart@3am headed to South Africa with $217 for this leg of the race. Rob says they've had a guardian angel throughout the race. The brothers leave at 3:36.They brak brack about being the only non-couple still in the race. Joyce and Uchenna plan to have more faith in their instincts. Ron needs to get a sock for Kelly's mouth cause her accent is killing me. The airlines wont allow the teams to take their bags on board, I can't remember if Romber were able to take theirs or not. Ray and Deana are a good 6 hours behind the leaders. The old people aren't too far behind them. Ray hopes the old people get a flat on their way to the airport. Nice guy Romber hates that tha bunching led to a loss of an 8 hour lead.

There are only two fast-forwards on the race this time.
In this fast forward teams travel to a narrow suspension bridgein a town 26 miles away and have to cross it to get the fast forward.Detour, Tunnels and Tribes
Tunnels,
Underground cave and repel 45 feet into a cave and search for a clue Tribes,
They drive to a village and have to find 6 items and deliver 5 to the tribes they belong too. They will get the clue when they have delivered the 5 items and collected the necklaces they get when they deliver each one.

Varig through Sao Paulo, departs 10:55 am, arrives 6:55 am in Johannasberg. B/G find a flight departing 5am, arrivng 11am Uchenna and Joyce depart pit stop 5:49am. Ron and Kelly depart 6:05 am. Lynn and Alex deparat 6:11 am. U/J are told they must check their backpacks. R/K are also told must check their bags. L/A are not told to check their bags. Ray and Deanna depart at 9:20 am. He's still kvetching about being at the back of the pack. Meredith and Gretchen depart pit stop, sorry, missed their departure. Everyone is on the same flight so far, except Meredith and Gretchen. They secure seats on the flight. (Can you say bunching?) Ray and Deanna talk their way onto first class. Ray and Deanna first off plane. U/J and R/K must retrieve their bags. R/D first to clue, Fast Forward. Teams may use FF only once during race. FF - 26 miles to Soweto to top of tower, cross suspension bridge over cooling tower. Detour: Tunnels or Tribes. Tunnels - drive 50 miles to underground caves, repel down tunnel to retrieve clue. Tribes - drive to tribal area, collect 5 items and deliver to correct tribe. L/A will do Tribes. R/D decide to go for FF. R/A decide to do FF also. M/G and B/G decide to do tunnels. R/K bags come off plane and they decide to do tunnels. U/J still waiting for their bags.

U/J still waiting for their bags that finally come off conveyor belt. They are in last place. They decide to do tunnels and go back and get a map. R/D and R/A are stopping to ask for directions. R/A thinking they may have burnt their bridge, find someone to lead them to cooling towers. R/D arrive at towers first for Fast Forward. R/A are stuck in traffic. R/D are at the top of the tower, there are no sides to the bridge. Ray goes first. L/A decide to stop for directions to City Cultural Village - I guess they decided to do Tribes. They deliver an item to their first tribe fairly quickly. R/K obtain directions to the Caves. R/A arrive at water towers, see someone up already. Ray is working his way across the walkway. R/A decide to wait to see whether R/D complete FF before they ride to the top of the tower. Ray says scariest thing he's ever done. R/K arrive at Wild Caves, B/G arrive shortly thereafter. Ron goes down first, followed by Kelly. Greg goes down, then Brian. Once they get down into the cave, they must crawl through the small openings. Deanna starting her crossing. R/A discussing whether they should wait to see if R/A complete the ff. Rob wants Amber to decide whether they should go or stay. Deanna is stuck in the middle of the walkway.

For some reason R/A stop at the hospital for directions, all the staff are giving them hugs, recognizing them from Survivor. M/G still looking for Wile caves, are almost in an automobile accident. U/J still driving, looking for the caves. B/G and R/K working their way through the caves. R/K climb out and realize the clue is inside the cave so they go back down. B/G find the clue. Drive yourself to Soweto, find next clue in the Market downtown. B/G tell R/K where clue is in exchange for direction out of the cave. L/A complete their task and receive their clue. They are in 4th place. M/G arrive at caves and start down, Meredith first. U/J arrive shortly thereafter. Joyce descends first. Ray and Deanna arrive at the Pit Stop. Their prize is a pair of 2005 Toyota Rav 4s. (Does the car jinx apply to TAR?) R/A arrive at Cultural Village and begin deliverying items. B/G stop for directions to the market. R/K are told to look for the minibuses. R/K find clue. Roadblock: search market place and purchase 5 items for local orphanage, will then receive next clue. Toy, blanket, backpack, diapers, shirts. Kelly shopping for team. M/G and U/J having a hard time getting through the tunnels. R/A having more success in the village. They complete their task and receive their clue. B/G arrive at clue box. Brian shopping. M/G come out of cave without clue, get undressed, and are told the clue is in the cave. They must go back in. U/J find their clue. M/G are back down in the cave, when Gretchen falls. Meredith calls for help.

L/A complete their shopping and receive their clue. Alex says goodbye to Rob as they leave. Amber seems to be having shopping difficulties. B/G arrive 3rd at Pit Stop. L/A deliver their items to the Childrens Home. Someone in the market recognizes Amber and offers to help her find her items. For crying out loud! They are so lucky! The same woman offers to show them how to get to the Childrens Home. L/A arrive 4th at Pit Stop. U/J arrive at market, Uchenna will do shopping. R/A arrive at Childrens' Home. Rob stops to play a little soccer with the kids, their guide is taking them to the pit stop. U/J complete their shopping and head for the childrens home. M/G arrive at market, Gretchen shopping. U/J arrive at Childrens Home. Being at the childrens home makes Joyce think about available children, that she and Uchenna have discussed adoption. M/G complete shopping. R/A arrive 5th at pit stop --- with their guide! Rob introduces her to Phil. M/G arrive at childrens home and head for the pit stop. U/J arrive 6th at pit stop. Uchenna can't believe they are 6th. M/G arrive at pit stop and walk up to the mat. Phil tells them they are the last team to arrive. The good news is this is a non-elimination leg. They must surrender all their money and they will receive no money at start of next leg. They must also turn over all their possessions except their passports and the clothes on their backs. Racing with no money and clothes on their backs. My fingers are cramping!

Saying that he was the only one to drive a Humvee in a desert doesn't necessarly imply that he meant that he was driving a Humvee. I understand where you are coming from, but I think it was more the idea that he was driving in a desert-like enviroment with a large 4x4 vechicle.
