"Big Brother Messed Up Big Time " |
LAST EDITED ON 08-26-04 AT 09:56 PM (EST)I dont know if anyone else noticed but Marvin should not be HOH this week. I've watched it about 10 times in slow motion frame by frame on my TiVo. In the semi-final round Karen's ball clearly falls to the bottom of the tube before Marvins'. If you watch closely Marvin's ball starts rolling around the rim of the hole while Karen's hits the back wall and comes back to fall in the hole. You can see Karen's ball fall down the tube but Marvin's is still rolling around. I think Big Brother needs to be made aware of this since it should have been Karen and Cowboy in the finals and not Marvin.

Something >should be done. ...yeah, like for starters, you should hit yourself in a head with a hammer for being dumb and/or delusional enough to actually care about a screw up in a competition on a reality show. Then, provided you are still conscious, hit yourself again in the head with the hammer and repeat after me..... "IT's a TV show and the only thing that matters is the amount of drama produced, not legitimate contest results" Geez....writing emails to CBS to protest a result on BB...that is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard of.

It is a reality show that is also a game show that must fit in with the federal game show guidelines ie. Contestants cannot by told by producers how to vote or play the game and competitions cannot be fixed to bring a certain outcome. Now I'm not saying it was fixed. It was clearly a mistake on Julies part. You need to remember these people are playing for $500,000 not just drama. Don't get me wrong nothing against Marvin (he is one of my favorites) but this is a serious mistake that could change the outcome of the game. If something isn't done to fix it when Karen gets out she would be able to take legal action against CBS and Big Brother.

Contestants cannot by >told by producers how to >vote or play the game >and competitions cannot be fixed >to bring a certain outcome. >...yeah, both of those require intentional acts by the producers. Not judgement errors by the host. HUGE DIFFERENCE. In other words, there ain't nothing that can be done and you need to stop caring about something so stupid as the results of a game show. > > You need to remember these >people are playing for $500,000 >not just drama. ...no, they are not! The reason they went on the show was because they are media whores and they think this is their big break into hollywood. The $500,000 was secondary and it was second by a longshot.
> > If something isn't done >to fix it when Karen >gets out she would be >able to take legal action >against CBS and Big Brother.
...no, she has no case at all. Additionally, she won't sue cause she won't want to upset CBS and ruin her delusional chances at post BB fame. Seriously, is this the first reality show you've ever watched???? It sure sounds like it. >

Diane saw it. She just told CB that Karen's ball dropped straight in, and Marvin's was spiraling. CB then said something like, so it would have been me against Karen? (I'm sure that will really tick him off!)They said that if a mistake was made they would have made Karen and CB do another playoff, so they figured it must have been close, but Marvin must have won, or they would change the results. They also mentioned that it was on live tv, but they believe that BB would just explain it as a mistake if they had to do it over. yeah, well, my butt launched a thousand tug boats just yesterday. --Executive Princess Pooh

LAST EDITED ON 08-26-04 AT 11:17 PM (EST)"it should have been Karen and Cowboy in the finals and not Marvin. " Aw nuts! And I so enjoyed Marvin's Happy Happy Joy Joy dance. And I really enjoyed CB's disappointment twice tonight - once when Marvin won the Y&R spot and the other when Marvin won HOH. I thought it was a bit cruel of CBS to have CB's name the last to drop off just before Marvin realized he'd won the role. CB really thinks he has a chance as a star after BB 5 ends. He just doesn't get the joke, just like William Hung. Pathetic. I know, I know - Hung is laughing all the way to the bank. I just hope CB doesn't enjoy the same kind of luck. I doubt they change things. They don't have a history of making corrections, as seen in the question/answer game a few weeks ago. Maybe it's like the old days before instant replay was available. Refs made incorrect rulings, but the teams had to play it out anyway. Life's not fair, you know. ETA - I sure wouldn't want my fate decided with Julie Chen at the helm. Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Well they just let Marvin into the HOH room, so I guess that they are not going to correct their major screw up. It is just amazing how f'd up this show is getting. If I were playing for $500K and did not make it to the final two because of a screw up in an HOH competition I would be suing their #####. I am sure that they made all of the players sign all kinds of disclaimers an releases to get onto the show but this mistake is just inexcusable. This mistake will change the outcome of the game, and the bonehead producers are just rolling with it like nothing happened.

From what I saw, karens ball bounced off the back wall, into the cup, marvins went straight in. It may have circled, but it was a straight shot, not a ricochet, that could be the difference.

I don't beleave it makes a difference if you hit it off the back wall on wether it counts or not. In the final Marvin Hit his ball off a previous miss and it scored and counted. A hole in one is distinguished by only hitting the ball once with the putter.

There's no loophole. The producers of Big Brother are just freekin morons! It's like saying the first horse to cross the finish line (and then trot around the track one more time) wins. If trotting around the track after being the first to cross the finish line is irrelevant then why include it in the rules that defines the winner? The rules are clear, the first person to get the ball to the bottom of the tube wins. So as much as I liked to see Marvin get HOH, it's a mistake that taints the game.

LAST EDITED ON 08-27-04 AT 10:06 AM (EST)Okay, so Marvins was the first in.... Karen was called into the diary room last night and was told by BB that she lost by a fraction of a sec., she also said something about watching the tape over. I personally think that hers hit the bottom.......However I am glad that Marvin won HOH... Karen is playing more than what people think she is, personally I don't think she is as crazy as she would like us all to beleive. Watching the feeds and reading the trascrips, I see that she is not just playing, but that noone is noticing in the House because they don't see her as a treat, but as am emotional crazy basket case....maybe she is playing the best....hmmmmm... Thanks for pointing that out. I'm going to check it when writing my summary. Anyway, I really don't care that Karen should have beaten Marvin. I mean, they're both probably going to nominate the same person anyway. As for a Karen/Michael putting showdown, I still would give the edge to Karen. Michael can't win a thing. If we're gonna talk about "would've should've" then Karen *should've* been able to beat Michael's score of one hole-in-one in 60 seconds. New TAR5 Game - Place your bets!

Who does Marvin nominate?I don't think it is as clear as everyone thinks. The smart thing to do is to break up alliances. So he should vote for one of these groups: Drew/Diane and Nik/Karen. And to a lesser extent Michael/Adria but Michael also has an alliance with Drew. Michael can really float to any group. He's close with Drew, Adria and Nik. If I were Marvin I would pick a group to align with and work to break up the other groups. Really the best group for him to allign with would be Adria/Michael. The other 4 really are an alliance of two groups of two.

...all you people complaining about the results...I don't remember any of you complaining when Adria was nominated in week 4 and CBS made up a rule that if Adria was evicted Natalie would enter the house anyway. How is that any different than what happened last night in terms of affecting the legitimacy of the game??? In other words, the rules DON'T matter one bit...all that matters is the drama. You'll learn to accept this alot better if you take my simple approach to reality shows....basically, treat it like a lottery. The contestants are picked and they all get to be media whores, that is the main prize. Then, randomly someone will win a lot of money at the end.

first time poster here, but thought i would take up for big bro. in terms of them changing the rules in regards to first they said if adria/nat got evicted before they both were in the house, that the other wouldn't come in and then they decided that if one got voted out earlier that that, the other would come into the house........yes, they did change the rules there, but they didn't change them on the houseguests, they had no idea what BB was planning on doing, so all they really did was change what they wanted to do with the twins, which i dont have a problem with that at all if they thought that would make for better tv.....just my opinion

This would go right along with their stupid Project DNA theme.

>Well said shakes, I completely forgot >that slight alteration of the rules. >At first, Julie says that if Adria/Natalie >get found out, it's game over. Then a >couple weeks later she says that Natalie >will come into the game if Adria gets evicted. How is that an alteration of the rules? 1) Julie said that if they were discovered, it's game over. 2) She said later that if Adria got evicted, Natalie could come into the house. When Adria was on the block, had they been discovered as twins? Did Julie ever tell us that if one of them was evicted it was game over? Or, did everyone just ASSUME that if one was evicted it would be the end of their game? I don't recall anyone ever saying that if one of them was evicted, they'd both have to leave. Monte

>Julie said that they were playing >the game as one, so yes, it was >correct to assume that if one of >them got evicted that both >of them would be evicted. Apparently it wasn't correct to assume that. In fact, weren't they (and we) told on day one DO NOT ASSUME anything?? >CBS is just changing/bending the >rules in an effort to manipulate >and retain viewers. They s u c k! I'm sure a lot of reality shows manipulate the rules to retain viewers...that's the whole idea....to get you to watch the show.

>...in that case, the viewers and >contestants were stupid to assume >that Julie was serious when >she said that the winner >would be the one who's >ball hit the bottom of >the tube first. Huh? How is that even close to being similar? In one case, people assumed something that was never said. In the other case, people pointed out that what was said isn't the way it happened. They're two very different things.

I think it was said by Julie that if Aidra was evicted on the night that Natalie was scheduled to be revieled that would constitute not being uncovered as a twin playing the game. So if Aidra had been on the block and evicted then Natalie would still have walked through the door. I think basically to have them loose would have been for someone to say in the diary room that Aidria is switching with here twin. On another note I really think that the 1/2 brother sister DNA twist was found out to fast for CBS and they may have wanted it to go on longer.

>On another note >I really think that the >1/2 brother sister DNA twist >was found out to fast >for CBS and they may >have wanted it to go >on longer. They never counted on Cowboy being such a freekin moron. What an idiot he was to reveal this information to everyone! He could have used this information in private with Nikomas to form a secret aliance that could have been almost as strong as the twins. Instead, he tells his masters (Scott and Jace) only for them to think that he is either crazy or a liar. I have been watching the live feed for the past two days and the more I watch and listen to Cowboy the dumber he seems to get. Heck, maybe it's just me getting dumber for wasting my time watching them. Anyway, I was pulling for Nikomas or Cowboy to win but after watching them both unedited on the live feed I'd rather see Marvin, Diane or Drew win... in that order.

However, I >don't think many people could >have gotten over the shock >quick enough to think strategically. >Yeah, I guess your right, I'll cut Coboy some slack on that one. The prospect of being able to contact a father that I never knew might have made me say "screw this game" and leave the house immediately to see him.
