"The Amazing Race: Team Dynamics Are What Wins the Gold "
LAST EDITED ON 05-31-04 AT 04:05 AM (EST)

So what does a strong team dynamic look like?

At least one person who is constantly positive and full of energy. Although it is preferable to have two of these people, one will usually suffice. This person has to always look out for their teammate and keep their own emotions, as well as those of their partner, in check. Once the positive teammate cracks, it’s all over. An explosion of bottled up emotions will come pouring out, causing the team to focus more on each other than on the actual race.

It also helps to have at least one person who isn’t afraid of anything. There will most definitely be a task that involves extreme heights, eating, repelling, and/or getting filthy. Normally these tasks occur at detours, having the sky-diving be a quick way out and the donkey ride across the Himalayas the long way out. If one team member doesn’t care what happens to him, then the other team member will usually build up the courage and go along with it as well. And as far as roadblocks go, having one fearless teammate is never a bad idea. Excellent physical condition on the part of both teammates isn’t a bad thing either. This idea of Darwinism is usually most apparent during the first few legs of the race.

finally, a good team dynamic must have at least one person with a brain in their head. Preferably someone who is literate and can read the clues. This person has to always take a step back and carefully examine what the team is doing or is about to do.

1. "Rules on posting copyrighted material..."
From the Guidelines:

VIII. DO NOT REPUBLISH COPYRIGHTED INFORMATION
(a) You should NOT post information that is copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than you on the discussion or news forums without the express consent of the owner. Reposting is copyright infringement even if you attribute the article correctly to its source. The test for copyright infringement is not whether you are trying to make any money from the work; instead, what matters is whether you hurt the potential income of the copyright holder. By reposting an article, you would be depriving the copyright holder of advertising revenue, so you cannot do it. If such a posting occurs, the member posting the information will be held solely responsible. RealityTVWorld.com is not responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law.

(b) There is a limited exception to this strict copyright rule, however. Under "Fair Use" provisions, you can legally post an abstract - or perhaps the opening paragraph or a brief excerpt - of an article. Therefore, if you want to post an article, you should either do this and include a link, or just post the link. If you are not sure whether you can copy something, then please err on the side of caution and simply post a link to the material.

(c) Press releases are not covered by the limits on reposting. Press releases are intended for wide distribution and thus can be copied, reposted and distributed as much as you want.

Please edit your post so that it complies with the guidelines or it will be deleted.

Thank you.
