"E-Bay results" |
Hi y'all,I'm posting this on every board so that the scam will end. As you may or may not know, a guy posted an auction about a week ago for the winner of Survivor. A guy at the EZboards bid for it and won. He asked others to send $3 to recoup his loss and divulge the info. He has and we all know now. However, Mr. Scam guy at E-bay (ezcash@adexec.com) has posted another scam auction. To get the word out, I'm posting the text of his e-mail. The thanks go to Nathan for winning the bid, and Valpeach for giving it to me. The winner of Survivor 2 is: Alicia !Currently the best place we have found that is offering bets on Survivor 2 is Intertops Casino located at www.intertops.com . They currently have the highest odds and are highly reputable. They took bets on last year's Survivor also and we have received several on time payouts from them. You can go to the site and take a look at the current odds being offered on each of the remaining survivors. The odds for Alicia have varied between 5/1 and 7/1, I'm sure they will go down a little as each of the other survivors is voted out. Las Vegas casinos are also offering odds on Survivor 2, although unless you live nearby this is probably not convenient. There are also several free online contests to pick the winner which you may participate in. The information came from an extremely reliable inside source. All we ask is that you use the information responsibly as many people don't want to know who wins until the end. We are not responsible for any money wagered beyond the final bid price. If you have additional questions you may email us back at any time Thanks Here is a list of other online casinos taking action on survivor. Its best to look at them and their signup bonuses and decide which ones are right for you. I placed wagers on several different ones as many of them cap the amount you can bet at $55-100. www.sportsbook.com www.playersonly.com www.players-sb.com www.mvpsportsbook.com www.v-bookmaker.com www.betvsi.com www.v-wager.com
For what it's worth, he was right about Rich. But a scam is a scam. Spread the word. AFM

Not that I even believe this -- but how is the eBay guy the scam because he's running it again??? ...did he even promise NOT TO TELL ANYONE ELSE? Was this supposed to so an exclusive license? Both parties in this thing are fools, but you're probably an even bigger one -- the scam isn't that he's running the auction again, the scam is that he ran it to begin with and some chumps believe him. No one who truly has the connections to know the answer is going to risk trouble for $3....and the guy who is likely the biggest "scam" is the ezboard guy who had to start a fund to recoup $3. ...who's to say he didn't collect $1 from 100 people? Congratulations, I think you've set the new barometer on the first post blows-o-meter -- you registered an ID 5 days ago and this is the best you could come up with for your first post -- don't strain yourself trying to think of your next posting, we're willing to wait -- quality takes time. Barnum Exhibit A. (which really isn't even true, see http://home.nycap.rr.com/useless/barnum/barnum.html for details)

Uh, I don't get why you're ragging on this guy. As he notes, someone ELSE bought the scam, and so he's doing a public service by telling anyone on this board who might otherwise be idiotic enough to send $3 down the tubes that it's a scam. He's posting the email so we see how the scammer had no backup for his info, and he's not asking for money or anything.Sure, it's not perfectly on-topic, but I don't think it was deserving of that level of vitriol....

Where does he state that his reason for thinking it to be a "scam" was due to the lack of backup info???His issue doesn't appear to be that the poster had no backup for his info -- he makes no such claims in the posting -- his point of contention with the auctioneer seems to be that the seller is running ANOTHER auction looking to make more cash off the issue. He doesn't claim the info is wrong -- it comes across like he BELIEVES the info -- his point of contention is that the ebay auctioneer is looking to make further cash off of another auction (as though the first winning buyer purchased some exclusive license to receive the knowledge from the auctioneer) "That level of vitriol" ...besides this poster and his two friends -- and the folks that passed the hat to collect $3 -- how many people do you think are out there that need a "public service announcement" to realize that if someone is willing to sell you the name of the Survivor 2 winner for $3, it's probably a hoax??? ...if people are foolish enough to believe it, they DESERVE to lose the $3. (they probably also deserve to be sterlized, but that's another point)

Good point, I just thought it was implicit. >besides this poster and his two friends -- and the folks that >passed the hat to collect $3 Wait, they actually DID take up a collection for $3!? Not being on the other board, I didn't know that, and the idea is just so ludicrous that I couldn't reasonably assume it. You have explained why he deserved "that level of vitriol." Flame away... >...if people are foolish enough to believe it, they DESERVE to >lose the $3. (they probably also deserve to be sterlized, but >that's another point) 100% agreed.

LAST EDITED ON 03-07-01 AT 00:48 AM (EST)Not that I want to argue with you (of all people), but the reason I posted the opening bid for the current auction (see below) was because for some reason I feel the need to clarify that the dolt that won the first auction paid a lot more than $3. Although I don't know how much he paid, it has to be upwards of $35 which is what he is attempting to recoup by asking for $3 per person that wants to know what he found out. AtlantaFatMike gave us the info for free, so now the dolt can forget collecting his $3 per person. As for whether it's a scam or not - I have no idea. It seems to me, though, that if you are going to solicit money for a secret you ought to at least furnish some sort of indication as to the source of that secret. I don't know any of these people (AtlantaFatMike, the Auction Winning Dolt, or anyone else) so I have no idea why this seems to be so important for me to clarify. Sometimes you just have to listen to the voices and heed their advice... Here's the link to the current auction if anyone is interested. No one has been dumb enough to bid yet. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=566782007

11. "E-Bay results and AFM" |
LAST EDITED ON 03-07-01 AT 11:34 AM (EST)First, I'd like to thank AtlantaFatMike for the post, and I'd like to welcome him back anytime he wants to visit. AFM was (as someone else mentioned on this thread) the person who found the "compression glove" picture of Mike, and I credited him for it when I posted that picture. SB, I was following this "bidding" on ss.com ezboard. Someone posted that this was being suctioned, and several of the posters on ezboard agreed to contribute $3 each to win the auction. Of course, the guy who sold them the info (for $53) has actually sold it 4 times now; the auction that AFM is complaining about is the fifth. Does this information have any value? Well, if you REALLY knew who won S2, wouldn't you be betting on that info instead of selling it on eBay? Note that the ID of the seller on eBay is a new ID -- in other words, you can't trace this person by any prior history. The "fact" that he picked Rich is a "fact" that the seller provided himself.

Not that Atlantafatmike needs me to defend him, but he was the one who originally found the pic of mike with the bandaged hands, and figured out that this pointed to him going last week. If you had listened to the guy you're bashing, then maybe you wouldn't have to rescind your picks.

In defense of Mike, he's just posting this so no one who sees it will bid on this stupid auction. I'll admit that even though I knew it was a scam upon first hearing about it (seller has no ebay history; seller gives no sources for his/her info) I was still mildly curious as to the result. It has no bearing on my analyses or predictions; rather, it'll be something to look back on after the final episode and say, so, was this jerk right or not?Mike's made a lot of good posts over at the ezboards, most notably the discovery of (Survivor)Mike's bandaged hand (even if he does sometimes get drawn into flame wars with some of the more clueless over there ). He just wants to get the info out there. I know, this if my first post here. Just wanted to speak up for Mike.

Glad to have you posting over here. Although I would not have paid $3 (or even $.03) to find out the name being sold on eBay, I admit to having had a tinge of curiousity (the same tinge that I sometimes feel after reading a headline from a supermarket tabloid while waiting in line).I enjoy reading most of AFM's posts, although he and vviCKed seemed like Kelly and Susan...
