AWESOME TC....reminded me a lot of when Amanda found the HII and played it at TC in Fans vs. Favorites.Smart of Russhell to go with Shambo's suggestion (vs. Monica) to cement her trust and make sure she stays on his side, even though it might have been better to take out Dave or John. Dave's Face and Erik's fist pumping were priceless. And those stupid Galus are not even thinking about jury votes when they dis Erik. He is voting for an FF for sure!

There was really no way to see that Kelly vote coming based on the clues and caps we were given this week...and certainly not the editing. Yes, there was the Kelly reward shot but there were other OFG candidates too.It was all based on Shambo's suggestion and wanting to keep her loyalty. Logically, FF would have gone Monica or Dave/John if Shambo hadn't suggested Kelly. (And I think that RussHell would have preferred to get Laura's goat by voting out Monica 1st...but he showed some deference to Shambo.)

Yes, I am starting to cheer for RussHell myself! Finding two HIIs without even one clue is impressive. Of course, like us, he's probably watched the show enough to know where they would be hidden. Can he find it again next week? That would really be funny!I did think it was interesting in the beginning of the show when Jiffy gave Natalie all the credit for Galu turning on Eric. He called it "Natalie's Plan." He also is now describing the FoaFoas as the FoaFoa Four, as in "Aitu Four." Looks like it bodes well for them and I'd venture to say one of those four will be our winner. Sorry, couldn't resist ... I know this stuff belongs over in Veruca's thread.

I agree with you Scarlett. Veruca's thread is off-limits until midnight so may as well post our initial thoughts in here.I liked seeing Galu shadowing Russell and Jaison but we had a shot of Natalie poking around alone just as Jeff says: "Finding the next idol means everything."
(John was also seen but does he really matter?)

The episode was good but wasn't the TC anti-climactic? They told us everything that would happen. They could have edited out Dave's rejection of Monica's idea. They could have kept us a little more in the dark about the switch of target to Kelly, maybe leaving only Shambo's initial suggestion. The only fun things were Galu waiting to see where the guillotine would hit and Kelly's "It's me!" which reminded me of Gretchen's reaction.

Well, it's hard to live up to the "most memorable TC" hype . I do think to the average viewer, this was a huge surprise and a great episode....and people love rooting for the underdog.I agree that they seemed to telegraph every move, esp. around RussHell finding the HII....but I don't think anyone on any of the boards was expecting Kelly, so that was an interesting twist. Personally I kinda liked not having the entire episode spoiled and having different opinions on who was going. Can't wait to see the fallout next episode!

I'm not talking pre-episode spoiling; during the episode we found out everything that was about to happen at TC. Sometimes a TC when we know who goes is memorable for the laughs at the expense of the victim(Rodger in Amazon, Billy in Cook Islands, JR in China come to mind) but there was nothing to laugh at Kelly. They even had to caption Laura's words after the vote to re-direct our laughs at the right person.

Well, keep in mind that the non-spoiled viewer doesn't know the boot order, and usually doesn't even suspect. If I were 'unspoiled', it would have been a great TC, with the first drama of 'will he use the idol' and the second drama of 'will they have outsmarted him and voted for Natalie'. They threw enough uncertainty in beforehand to fool most people, I think.Plus, if I were editing the show I don't know how else I would have told that story. The drama of both sides trying to anticipate what the other would do must have made for great tv - I mean I enjoyed it and had a pretty good idea of how it'd turn out.

I don't know the boot order and I don't think anyone needed one to figure out that Russell wasn't leaving. All they needed to do was cut out Dave rejecting Monica's idea and that little scene where Russell told the other Foa Foas to vote out Kelly.

I agree with your suggested edits, Michel...but of course CBS is not known for its subtlety .It is a bit ironic that Monica, the alleged weak link, was the one to bring up RussHell using the idol, while meanwhile Dave, the alleged high IQ guy, dismissed the idea! I wonder if next episode the Galus are going to blame Shambo for leaking the clues to Russhell (since she was on the reward), vs. realizing that he found it without any clues? It will be interesting to see if they try to woo Shambo to keep their majority or if they just give up on her. Will we see the purple rock???

yeah, you're right michel, it would have changed little in the presentation, and kept the uncertainty up. For the record, I've lurked this board enough to know that you're not a 'boot order' spoiler type of person, but I meant to suggest that most viewers don't pick up on editing cues as sharply as you or others here. I still think it might have been suspenseful for the unspoiled, but I'll wait until I talk to my sister later to confirm that judgement, haha.

the thing is, one of the best moments for me was seeing Dave's jaw drop when he realized that Monica was right. That was priceless. If they had left out Dave's dissing her concerns it wouldn't have been nearly as good.There is always the chance that strategy changes after the last conversation we hear, so it wasn't set in stone that they wouldn't split the vote. Actually, they didn't have the numbers to split the vote. They had seven votes, including Shambo. Five of those needed to go towards their target. The other two don't trump the Foa Foa 4. So it didn't matter. All they could do was to switch targets as happened in Fiji, but in Fiji they had an informant.
