Thanks to vidcaps and keen eyes we can determine the two new tribes each have 5 women and 4 men: NuAitutaki- Yul Cao Boi Becky Ozzy Cece Jonathan Flicka Candice Sundra NuRarotonga- Brad Jenny JP Cristina Adam Parvatti Nate Rebecca Steph As XWraith pointed out in the other thread, this is a game of pairs and each set of pairs has been split up: Rebecca-Sundra Cecilia-Cristina Ozzy-JP Adam-Candice Except for Jonathan and Flicka and the newest of pairs Becky and Yul. These 4 now also seem to be on the stronger of the two tribes. How do you think the tribes get split up, random buff draw, schoolyard pick em, or some other means?   Top

Well, that settles it, Yul is on the red tribe...wow, clearly it looks as though one tribe is far stronger to me, and that's the red tribe. All of the players that we have strong feelings about...Yul, Ozzy, Sundra, even Becky and Jonathan are all on the same tribe... I see that Parvati and Nathan and JP and Brad all end up on the same tribe as well. We saw that the chase the other tribe around in the ocean while carrying very heavy bags is a challenge, but is it the RC or the IC, OR is it another combined RC/IC? It looks as though they are shuffled just prior to that challenge to me? Are the tribe colors orange/blue or red/blue?   Top

"RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" All of the players that we have strong feelings about...Yul, Ozzy, Sundra, even Becky and Jonathan are all on the same tribe... Definitely agree with you here, FP. All the "interesting" people were packed into Aitutaki. I do think, however, that the new tribes are pretty much split evenly. Raro has the stronger men. Their weakest is probably either Nathan or Brad, compared to CaoBoi and possibly Jonathan on Aitu. However, Raro has less athletic women compared to Aitu. To me, on a purely physical standpoint, Jenny and CaoBoi are in danger given the new tribal compositions.   Top

"RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" To me, on a purely physical standpoint, Jenny and CaoBoi are in danger given the new tribal compositions. I suspect the people that are still with a group of three from their original tribe are most in danger this week. That means Rebecca/Stephannie/Nate on NuRaro, and CaoBoi/Becky/Yul and Jonathan/Flicka/Candice on NuAitu. I think the boot(s) will come from this list. "RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" The tribal split does allow for Parvati to flirt with Adam and eventually get a romance going with Nate. I think Parvati is safe on her new tribe for quite some time. As far as the buff colors, no need for them to use new colors, it looks to me like New Aitutaki and New Rarotonga.   Top

"RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" I think it can't be random bc of the 4/5 m/f split on each tribe. Maybe it's a pickem and they have to pick a person of opposite sex from another tribe, maybe they even pick the tribe's name out of a hat... For instance, as example with Cristina and Becky as first pickers. That way they are limited by who they can pick in two ways sex and original tribe. Becky Ozzy Candice wants to tell her! Yul Cece Jonathan Sundra Cao Boi Flicka Cristina Adam Rebecca Brad Parvatti Nate Jenny JP Steph Just a guess but it's not random   Top

"RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" Well if it's a schoolyard pick'em, then I don't think the original tribe matters. Looking at the Red Team, we see that it has only one original Hiki and three Pukas and Raros. It's pretty evenly spread for the Blue Team with a 3-3-2-2 split among original tribes.   Top

"RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" But it could be random if for example the men need to step on a disk and underneath there are 4 red buffs and 4 blue buffs. The women have a different field of discs, this time with 5 red buffs and 5 blue buffs. Step off and check your buff color, voila, 4 men and 5 women on each tribe and totally random. I'm not sure if that is the way they do it, but it is one way they could do it.   Top

However, I think bc of the theme this season the race issue will come into also...hence my guess at the players having to pick an opp. sex of another tribe. I think the pick ems are always better bc it causes more angst, etc. than random picking. Hoping EPMB does it again here.   Top

As far as how they pick, I'll just throw in that, since A$$, they've not used the same method in consecutive seasons: EI: Pick'em Guat: Random Q&A Palau: Pick 'em Vanu: Scout splits, Sarge chooses. A$$: Random buffs. I expect it will be done somewhat randomly with a way to distribute the genders evenly.   Top

"RE: S13 E3- The two new tribes" It's pretty even on the racial split too tho New Aitu Paku Men-2 Paku Women-1 Aitu Men-1 Aitu Women-1 Hiki Men-0 Hiki women-1 Raro men-1 Raro Women-2 New Raro Paku Men-1 Paku Women-1 Aitu Men-1 Aitu Women-1 Hiki Men-1 Hiki Women-2 Raro Men-1 Raro Women-1 THe only thing that could have been a little more balanced is Hiki's split 2-2 I really think the odds for this to happen randomly is astronomical...I do remember the A$$ split tho, the odds were pretty astronomical there too, but I think EPMB wanted the races to mix pretty evenly after the initial separation so to secure that happens, it will not be random.   Top

I'm asking this because I just realized the following: The new tribes are Red (Aitutaki) and Blue (Rarotonga) oldAitutaki has a fully functioning camp, complete with chicken traps; oldRarotonga doesn't even have a floor nuAitu has both chicken trappers; nuRaro has the lazy guy who thinks floors aren't important What I'm trying to say is that nuRaro has a lot more camp work to do than nuAitu if the Rarotonga and Aitutaki camps are to be the merge camps.   Top

Let's assume 39 days for the season (S2 was the only exception). Let's assume a final 9 with 7 jury members who vote on a final 2 (this seems to work, why deviate?). Let's assume 13 episodes (this has also been very typical). "Voting out the jury who should in the end vote for the winner" is a critical premise of this show - so I expect single boots from the jury stage onward. The last pre-jury boot also makes for a good episode, especially if there are new merge dynamics to cover. How are we going to go down to 10 castaways by episode 7? A very simple schedule would be to have both tribes go to TC EACH EPISODE starting Thursday all the way till the traditional merge episode... ep1 20 --> 19 ep2 19 --> 18 ep3 18 --> 16 ep4 16 --> 14 ep5 14 --> 12 ep6 12 --> 10 ep7 10 --> 9 ep8 9 --> 8 ep9 8 --> 7 ep10 7 --> 6 ep11 6 --> 5 ep12 5 --> 4 ep13 final episode starting with the final 4 How do you create time in a single show for a double TC? Have no IC, only RC. It has already been the single tribe challenge season so far (granted based on a grand total of 2 episodes...). "Twist advantages": - prevents Ulonging - prevents voting out the strong before the merge It's all spec, but I don't see why they would deviate from an ep7-ep13 schedule that seems "so Survivor". forehead   Top

I thought a thing they should've done is to go with 3 tribes at 18 and have double boots of the 2 losing tribes and then merge to 2 at 16 with some double boots thrown in randomly from thereon in...but they never actually do any of my ideas...harumpf   Top

"RE: Boot schedule" They could also do an IC in which the losing team has to vote off two people, and the winning team only has to vote off one person - there's three people in one episode. Jeff did mention the possibility of a quadruple elimination episode. While I dont see this happening, I do see maybe the situation I just mentioned...   Top

"RE: How the tribes get split" It's just a wide camera angle to make it appear that Perv-at-it is closer to the others ... she's just stepping up to pick out a ball and squeeze it (something tells me she's already well-experienced at it). In the vidcap of the guy in a light brownish shirt squeezing a ball, you can only see a single drop on the center of his T-shirt and a little streak on his right shoulder, so they're holding it in a way designed for the paint to shoot out towards the sides (I'm sure they were advised to do it that way to avoid splattering their faces).
