(boo hoo) Courtney doesn't trust Shane (who does?) Bruce is making sure his rock garden is picture perfect. Sally is on Exile Island, doing a little meditating. Searching for an II that doesn't exist any more. (It's been so long I forget who some of these people are.) Terry gets tree mail. It's a treasure hunt. Terry is hoping it's somthing to eat. They find a boat with firewood and instructions not to open anything until they meet up with the other team. It's merge time!! Terry is hoping to pick up a player or two from the other tribe to his alliance. Terry and Austin (and Nick?) paddle to the other tribe's camp.   Top

Ahoy, a boat on the horizon. Terry, Austin and Nick approach, and Casaya is eating their rice as quickly as they can so the boat peopole won't have any to eat. Casaya will great them but stay together and vote the others off one by one. Did I see a little blur action from Nick there? Bruce helps Austin carry a tarp onto the beach. Oooooh, Sally arrives via speedboat, Bruce rushes out to meet her. They open the crate. New tribe buffs and paints to design their new flag, snacks and drinks. Fruit, cheese, wine, crackers, chocolate (or were those olives?). Everyone chowing down. Working on new shelter, using the new tarp. Terry directing. Shane doesn't think Terry has the II and next opportunity they'll vote him out. Terry is looking for two people to swing to his alliance. He's talking with Bruce. Promises Bruce F5, offers sanctuary. Shane thinks Bruce most likely to flop, plans to make Bruce feel like their leader so he'll stay with them. Bruce realizes he's swing vote for both sides. He's game on. Uh oh, bruce is injured. Machete knocked out one of his teeth and cut his face. He vows to be gone a short time and return the next day.   Top

I'm guessing Courtney (yoga) and Bruce (martial arts) would have an advantage here, but we will see. Cirie first to drop. Aras drops out after 11 minutes. Bruce down at 12 minutes. Sally down. Shane asks for food and he wil drop, Shane drops anyway at 13 minutes. Danielle drops out. Courtney drops. Austin, Terry and Nick still hanging. The negotiations begin. Austin trying to convince Terry to drop. 30 minutes elapse. Austin drops out. Terry and Nick remain. 40 minutes have elapsed. Nick hopes he makes it through one more vote and makes the jury. Shane bellows and announces a Casaya meeting. Several indicate they are up in the air. They bring up Nick and Austin's names as the bootee at Tribal Council. The La Mina remnants are tiffed off at Shane's arrogance (who among us aren't?). They propose him. Shane is convinced he will be able to Pagong the La Mina tribe. (Oh the dastardly editing of EPMB, we don't know what will happen!!)   Top

Nick held on because he felt he would be on the block tonight. Austin also felt he would be on the block. Opted to drop off so he wouldn't appear as strong as he is. Jiffy brings up fact several people dropped when no food rewards existed. Shane asserts their group will stick together no matter what. Aras concerned the II is still out there. Courtney and Cirie would be shocked if someone from their group flipped tonight. Votes. Nick votes. Courtney votes. Austin votes for Shane. Terry votes. Shane votes. Nick, ARas, Danielle. (missed a few in there, sorry) Jiffy reads the votes. Shane, Shane, Shane, Shane, Nick, Nick, Nic (sic), Nick (tied), Nick, Nick. Nick is voted out. But, you know, Shane has to be p*ssing himself to have received votes from the entire other team.   Top

Some of them might have tried to signal to each other to change the vote from Nick to Austin. They may have gotten crossed signals and split the vote and then Shane would have left. If they were already planning to vote out Austin there was no loss in him trying that.   Top

The whole point of the hidden immunity idol is that it's a nuke. If you try and vote out the guy who has it, it blows up in your face, and instead, you lose one of your own alliance members (because one of them will have the next highest number of votes). And probably the leader of your alliance at that. But the thing about nuclear weapons is this: in order for them to be a real deterrent, the other side has to be absolutely convinced that you have the nuke. And there was no better way of doing that, and sowing doubt and confusion, than passing immunity to Nick. If Terry had done this, he'd be saying "I have the nuke. C'mon, try and vote me out," in the strongest possible terms. After all, if he doesn't have it, he's risking his entire game. Consider the consequences: First of all, by passing immunity to Nick, it's unlikely that anyone will vote for him, either at that TC or at a future one, until they have the numbers to vote him off, and cast enough votes for both him and a 2nd place candidate not in their gang. That gets him several rounds of safety, whereas keeping things a secret only gets him one extra round when he fires the nuke (he's gonna get targeted as soon as he fails to win immunity). Realistically, the fact that Terry is know to have the nuke means that the Six are much more likely to fracture, because they all want to make sure that they aren't going to be the target when the nuke goes off. Secondly, now the plans of the Six are all messed up. Who do they vote for now? Do they have a contingency plan in place? Are they allowed to decide on a new victim right there at TC? Is there a possibility they'll screw up and split their vote? Yeah, they'll probably go for Austin, but even so, Terry is no worse off. There's no real downside. If he gives up immunity and they don't believe him, and all vote him out, then he fires the nuke, it's a 5-4 game, and he's still got a shot. If he doesn't, then has to fire it next TC, then it's a 5-3 game. I'd much rather be in a 5-4 game; only one guy has to swing to change the game. In fact, there's an argument to be made that even if Terry didn't have the hidden immunity, he should bluff that he does. Even if someone on the other team has it, he can still bluff that there's more than one. Doubt and uncertainty are his friends. Terry didn't figure this out, though the preview indicates that he does in the next episode.   Top

I'm may be going too far off but what if they all thought Austin was on the block? Austin is a bright guy. I cannot explain why he revealed acting weak during IC or why he prayed with Bruce telling him in effect that he was at peace with leaving. Trying to draw votes? Remember, during Casaya's last huddle, Shane was pushing Austin. Austin told us while voting that he knew Shane was directing votes towards him. The agreement between Terry and Austin could've been that having immunity, Terry gave Austin the HII for this TC and then gets it back. We saw how desperate he got. This would've been a good back up plan.   Top

He's got the HII and knows coming into the merge La Mina is out numbered 6-4. First thing he did was go to just about everyone and make 'deals'. I had a flashback to Boston Rob! Then the Casaya idiots call their 'meeting' and continue their smugness at TC. Agree with volfan on this...arrogant arrogant arrogant. It's going to come bite Casaya in their behinds sooner than later I hope. Can't say I blame the rest of La Mina for being just a wee bit ticked off! Next week it appears Terry decides ok Casaya you want to play it that way.....guess what I have. Now it's up to YOU to beat me in the IC. Sure it's taking a chance but other than a million bucks what does he have to lose? Terry was probably with Shane long enough to know he's a loose cannon and all I can say is when Shaneboy finds out Terry has the HII I hope the man goes ballistic...again. Could this be how Terry manages to get an alliance with a few people? If not then he continues on an IC run. Reddog   Top

"RE: Terry blows it bigtime" The trouble here is that Terry had 2 guys to protect and only 1 immunity necklace to give away, so giving it to either Nick or Austin tonight would have been as useless as teats on a boar pig. Now with Nick gone, if Terry wishes to do so, especially since he's spilling the beans about having the EIII on the next episode, he can protect Austin all the way till the final 4 if he goes on the spoiled immunity run, because none of the Casayas will be too anxious to try to boot Terry for fear they might be the one that the remaining La Minas target with their votes. So if Austin gets the gate next ep, it tells me that either one of two things happens: 1) Terry fails to win the next IC, and must keep the idol to save his a$$, or 2) Terry has already gone into full-up "look out for #1" mode after his miserable failure to get any Casayas to flip, and won't be trying to save anybody but himself. He could also be trying to bait the Casayas into voting against him, but I don't think any of them will be that stupid. So what I expect will be that the Casayas will begin turning on each other sooner than we might think, given the spoilers that are out there, and we could very well see CO and Wickchix turn up full of baloney before this sucker's over.   Top

Regarding the posts up above about Terry giving the regular immunity to Nick to signal that he had the HII, I think Terry's plan for this Ep was getting two people to switch sides. He wanted to hang on to the HII for as long as possible without revealing he had it, so his first order of business was to try to get people to switch. If he had been successful, he could put the HII on the back burner without worrying until very late in the game.
