That would be my guess too BR. Either Mer is wrong in her guess that her spoiler's clues lead to a showdown between Ibrehem and Steph. or the title is refering to Gregg. I just don't see Ib or anyone else being a "neaderthal man" .Personally I have always thought it was Bobby and Stephanie who would stick together until they can't anymore. They seem to have a great respect for each other's abilities.

LAST EDITED ON 03-23-05 AT 03:13 PM (EST)Another thought -- maybe one of the women (I'm thinking Caryn) calls someone this? When I think of a Neanderthal, I don't think of someone rugged and strong, but rather someone outdated and behind-the-times. Perhaps someone does something perceived as sexist, or Caryn gets fed up with Tom's leadership again? ETA: The producers would not refer to Ibe as that, IMO. The word can carry racist overtones.

If there is a kidnapping I can absolutely see Katie or Coby calling BJ a Neanderthal man. That said, he's all over the vidcaps for ep. 7 and those caps juxtapose somebody who's fighting with somebody who's given up.

I'm tired of seeing the best liars win instead of those who are strongest in challenges, work at camp, etc. I'd be happy with a Coby, BJ or Steph win also, although that doesn't seem to be in the cards. I was impressed with Tom this week, consoling Janu. And I liked Steph saying she didn't like lying to BJ instead of grinning at the camera for being shrewd, a ploy that makes me want to say, "YOU'RE FIRED". Charter Member: Club Anti-DAW

Although the title is singular, perhaps it could be Stephenie referring to both of the remaining men on Ulong? or a Koror woman referring to the men? Neanderthal (slang): Crude, boorish, or slow-witted (okay, it is probably Bobby Jon...)

A long time ago, around season 4, I did an analysis of the titles and how often the referred to the boot. Turned out more often they not, they did not refer to the boot at all. (I never looked at seasons 5-8 to see if the pattern continued.) But looking at this season's titles, you'll see that only one of them referred to the boot so far. Ep. 1: "This Has Never Happened Before" - refers to the two person elimination, but doesn't give us any idea who goes. Ep. 2: "Love Is In the Air..." - refers to Jeff and Kim, neither of which was eliminated. Ep 3: "Dangerous Creatures and Horrible Setbacks" - refers to shark hunting and Jeff's injury. Jeff is booted. Ep 4 "Sumo at Sea" - refers to the immunity challenge. Ep 5: "The Best and Worst Reward Ever" - indirectly refers to the boot (worst reward), but gives no clue as to who the boot is. Ep. 6: "Jellyfish 'N Chips" - refers to the reward. Ep 7: "The Great White Shark Hunter" - refers to Tom (probably) and who thinks he'll be booted? Right. Ep. 8: "Neanderthal Man" - if it refers to BJ, I don't think he'll be booted here.

hear, hear bebekid!I think you're dead on; after all, the talk is moving toward Bobby Jon being the Neanderthal Man. I don't think it's any man in particular, but very specific to the fire-building challenge. Besides, Bobby Jon may switch to Koror tonight after all, eh? And yes, irony abounds that only Stephenie is able to make fire. Kicking all the hunter-gatherer butt.

If Steph wins immunity in the fire-building challenge as we expect, that leaves some questions unanswered. Will the fire-building challenge be the only thing going on at IC? Will there be a tribe face-off, and Ulong will lose again, forcing them into a special IC? And when Steph wins, do they even have to row over to TC and go through that formality, or will Jeff just come down to their beach and escort Ibrehem away?

I would think that there is a traditional IC ( Koror vs. Ulong) that Unlong loses, again (cause they got rid of BJ and Ibe sucks). I would think that Jeff tells Ibe and Steph about what will happen at TC as soon as the lose the IC (to build up commerical time suspense). Then they (Ibe and Steph) go to TC where the "fire building" face-off takes place. Steph wins it and Ibe is finnaly gone!Just my two cents; no spoilers or inside information from me!

Weird point to stick on, but I don't think they'd extinguish and then re-light the torches. With the exception of torches blown out by the wind or rain, a torch has never been re-lit (except, technically, when Lil and Burton rejoined the game).Survivor is almost mechanical now; there are things you do and don't do.

Well, a) I don't think BJ is dumber than a bag of hammers, and b) two weeks ago Stephenie wanted BJ out as a post-merge threat (which was really dumb on her part, but I digress). But BJ did say he thinks he has a better chance going with Stephenie than with Ibee, so maybe he decides that is still in his best interest after all. Assuming BJ doesn't get voted out next. I don't like the focus on him in the previews. Bridge for sale to highest bidder. Call 1-800-BRroach.

LAST EDITED ON 03-24-05 AT 04:45 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 03-24-05 AT 04:43 PM (EST) BR, you and KB are the Mersaydeez and CMC experts, what exactly was said about the "kidnapping" of a male? Bc it might not happen and in Ep. 7 BJ is ousted bc Steph is afraid BJ will make her pay for her mistake of voting for Ibe instead of James and she convinces Ibe to vote BJ in Ep. 7--we know she can and will lie. Then Ep. 8 "Neand Man" is just her and Ibe in the fire challenge...and Ibe loses and joins BJ in LL Then Steph spends a nite alone and Ep. 9 she is blended into Koror. Bc if the kidnapping of BJ occurs in Ep. 7 then does he return to Ulong in Ep. 8 against Steph in Neand. Man and loses the fire building challenge to her... Then Steph would have had to spend more than one nite alone depening on when BJ is returned to Ulong. ETA: But that would mean there would have to be another challenge at TC in Ep. 7--Steph vs. Ibe and Steph wins that one too...when is the "merge" listed on the storyboard? ETA: I checked and it says Ep. 10 but that can't be bc of Koror's dominance so it can be any time from Ep. 7 to Ep. 9
Like pms said in the misdirection thread, could it be that the fire challenge is in Ep. 7 and BJ is kidnapped and off to koror for good... After Steph beats IBe at Ep. 7 TC she spends the nite alone and then is "merged" into Koror which already has BJ in Ep. 8? Then Ep. 8 "Neand Man" could just be about BJ in his new surroundings.. and how he is ousted when he doesn't win Ind. Immunity

>How does Steph not get voted out next week? By playing the distrust card if BJ gets kidnapped. She could plant a seed of doubt in Ibe's mind that BJ will abandon Ibe for his new "friends". The only hope Ibe and Steph have of staying in the game is to hook up with the Koror minority alliance post-merge and topple the leaders. We know this doesn't succeed, but it's their last possible hope. "If there was ever a time you wanted permission to run over a clown . . . ."

First time i have posted I have been on this board for the last year or two and feel it is the best on the web. I was thinking what if BJ was booted next and the next day they get to kidnap IBE. Then at the next IC everyone has to set out but 1 against Steph. They choose IBE to go against her and IBE loses leaving Steph the only on left and she is merged in with the others. Just a guess but that is what I was thinking.

By playing the distrust card if BJ gets kidnappedThat's what I was getting at -- it seems that *something* weird has to happen for Stephenie to stay around beyond Ep 7. BJ and Ibe have always voted for the same person except on two occasions -- in Ep 2 when Ibe didn't vote for Ashlee because she picked him for the tribe (though he probably knew she was leaving); and at the first vote in Ep 5 after Ibe got immunity, when the votes couldn't be coordinated. BJ and Ibe have never voted against each other when the other one has gotten votes. Bridge for sale to highest bidder. Call 1-800-BRroach.

I agree the title could refer both to a person and a situation. It seems to me that whenever the Ep title is an appellation for a human being, it refers in some way to a specific person. It could refer to someone because of their actions, or something said about a person by someone else, or something the person in question says him/herself. As a situational title, I would also consider that this could refer to the aftermath of what happens in Ep 7. E.g., if the fire-building challenge occurs at the end of Ep 7 because a Ulong has been kidnapped over to Koror, that would put Stephenie all alone at the start of Ep 8 -- the last of an extinct breed. It could fit. Bridge for sale to highest bidder. Call 1-800-BRroach.
