Voice Over:
Amber: Though the castaways have to rely on their own wit and strength, they are allowed one small thing to help them along, the treasured luxury item.
TVG: Sometimes they are useful, sometimes sentimental, other times they just alleviate boredom. One thing is for sure, the luxury item makes the Survivors' journey a little less stressful. This year's crop is bringing their family along.
Travis: My luxury item is a picture of me and my wife and my children.
Rory: I'm bringing a picture of my family and I use that not so much for the home sickness as more for my focus of why I'm here.
TVG: Not every contestant got to bring their first, second or even ninth luxury pick.
Elisa: My first, like, 10 choices for my luxury item got rejected. But I finally got one approved. I brought a manicure kit.
Twila: I wanted to bring my mom's quilt. It would have meant a lot to me but they considered that to be too much of a luxury item. They allowed me to bring a picture of my family.
Ami: I wanted to bring a surf board but they wouldn't allow me to bring a surf board so I asked for a boogie board.
Lea: It has to be something with your personality. The one thing that it came down to was my love for my country so I brought an American flag.
Julie: Two baseball gloves and a softball. That could be interesting, a weapon? I can get things down out of trees.
Scout: I brought my nose flute. A flute I play with my nose. It's indigenous to the Fijian Islands and Hawaii. I think it'll be a nice sound out here.
Chris: They threw me in the sand with no food, no water, no pillow. If I can't have any of them three, I don't need a luxury item.
