Tribes are instructed to build a raft, maybe as part of RC? Arrival shots are RC since Saboga does not have Immunity Idol as they approach. Why does ShiiAnn have that, "Oh, Sh!t, not AGAIN!" look on her face? If the OFG Theory is still in effect (and I remember it correctly!), it looks like Sue, Jerri and Shii Ann are prime boot candidates. Rich and Lex nowhere to be seen... Hmmm, are we looking at the anti-OFG Theory? No IC caps could lend credence to the reshuffling of the three tribes to two speculation.   Top

Since Outfrontgirl has been posting here again, hopefully she will correct me if I'm wrong but -- The theory is basically that next week's bootee is always shown in the Thursday night preview for next week's episode. If a particular person is not shown in the preview at all, he/she should be safe. ETA: Normally it is a solo shot of the person. Group shots of tribes arriving at challenges, etc., don't count. The bootee need not be shown in either a negative or positive light, it could just be a cap of him/her sitting around or reacting to something. It becomes sort of moot later in the game when there are fewer players.   Top

"regarding the rafts" ...obviously we don't know about MogoMogo's raft, but from what we've seen Saboga's raft is about as usefull as their log cabin. Notice the struggle that had paddling complete with Rupert's fat@ss halfway submerged. Plus, its way too wide. On the other hand, Chapera's raft looks like a bamboo version of a cigarette boat and appears to be moving smoothly through the water, albiet with less people on it. In fact, I'm so impressed with Chapera's boat that I don't even need to see MogoMogo...I'm picking a Chapera win in the boat race. Also, based on the shelter comp, Chapera definitely has the best capenters/builders on their team. Also, if form holds suit from this ep, Chapera would have the advantage based on the fact that RobM already did this challenge during S4. Take note that in tonight's ep, both challenges were won by someone who participated in those challenges before, Rob6 with RC and Jerri with the IC. I know that both Mogo and Chapera had people who did those challenges as well, but that still doesn't dispute my point.   Top

(editing comments previously here: ok there are 2 peeps on the chapera raft, i somehow only saw the first set and the last with sue dragging it, and missed the middle set of shots. but i still don't know that we can judge its effectiveness, especially given that we don't know the nature of the challenge. in addition, rob alone seems to be dropping his end of the raft almost to water level - when they add two more people, what then?)   Top

"Challenge from Marquesas" Raft Rescue looks to be the recycled challenge from Ep3 in the Marquesas. Winning tribe was Rotu (KO was a member of tribe at that time) Getting the bundles Maraamu raft (The losing raft, looks a lot like Saboga's) Rotu's winning raft In S4 they had to paddle their craft and pick up crates of supplies and be the first back to a designated area on the beach to win. "RE: Challenge from Marquesas" One of a few things I've noticed - One the tribe they normally dont show in the previews finishes 1st or 2nd so I would say Moga Moga finished 1 or 2. Also If they have to pick up supplies then I would think that Sabogas would be better at this since the Chapera tribe only has one board. I'm not sure but I remember thinking that the Rotu tribe had no chance and that the other raft was much better - they ended up winning.   Top

I'm just brain storming based on the previews we have for E5. What if, instead of a merge 3-to-2 tribes, we have a switch. Could it be that they have to rotate to a different tribe's beach, and they can only take with them what they can carry on their rafts? It just seems odd to me that they'd build 3 rafts, run a RC, then immediately reorganize into two tribes. --- UDG   Top

That would be funny - Chapera losing out, Saboga gaining, no matter how it worked out. BUT - Shii Ann's look tells me she is worried that she is going to be split off from her ally, Kathy. That was my first impression from her face and "body" language (if a still shot can have body language . . . ) Anyway, I have always thought that the logical shift to two tribes would be at 14, so I think we will see a formation of two tribes from the three. I agree with Shakes above re: the rafts. Chapera does have better engineering going on, and Rupert didn't redeem himself, although they want us to think he did/will.   Top

On the other side - if they are "trying" the raft out they could figure out that it is not best to sit and paddle etc. This could just be a clip to show the fumbling so we think he doesnt. They could just keep switching things around - who sits where etc and do better than that in the actual challenge. I do think that they will have one more challenge for reward before they have a merge of anykind - to see if one more tribe can get to the rice.   Top

If you imagine as a car, B-Rob is "driving" with Ambuh in the front-passenger seat. Alicia is behind B-Rob with Sue in the other back seat. Tom is no where to be seen, so he does sit out. Strangely, the Chapera raft seems to be sitting lower in the back than in the front, and it also appears to sit lower than the Saboga raft, which has Jerri "driving," Jenna shotgun, Rupert behind Jerri, and Ethan beside him. --- UDG   Top

"RE: VIDCAPS: Survivor All Stars Episode 5 Preview" Caps 27-34 are of the tribes arriving to a challenge. Since there is a lack of the II in any of the Saboga's hands in caps 27 and 28 (Rupert is carrying the tribal flag) it has to be the RC arrival. If they had to build a raft for RC, why wouldn't they be shown arriving from the water after paddling their raft to the challenge site? Something is strange with these caps and I think we may have some out of order. So the questions we have: 1. Is the raft building for IC? 2. Is the reason MM is not shown building a raft or getting supplies because they are the tribe that gets reduced and joins the other 2 tribes? 3. If caps 27-34 are the arrival at RC do they reduce to 2 tribes as a result of which tribe loses RC? There are other questions as well, but clearly when they arrive at the RC they are still 3 separate tribes, and thats when they are told something that makes them react astonished. However, if you look at vid caps 1-5, it would be hard to argue that Saboga has gained anyone from the other two tribes. However, it could be explained that there is a RC. The merge has something to do with the raft and possibly the IC. We are not shown any previews from that challenge. So, yeah I agree that there is something strange going on here! ETA: After reading the misdirection thresd, I don't think my suggestion is possible but there is still something going on. I don't think so just based on the angle of approach of Saboga with the rocks in the background. They appear to be walking parallel with the beach not coming from the beach. Plus, their clothes do not appear to be wet, and wouldn't they take their shoes off and string them over their necks if coming from the water, you wouldn't wear shoes on the raft, yet they all have shoes and socks on. I agree that we can't see any extra tribemates in the Saboga suppky and raft pics, but that's why I think things may be out of order. Surgeon General G.A.W.K.U.R's of OT   Top

But if we are going to have 2 tribes beginning with this episode, then we'll only need 1 Idol. Plus, if the tribes are combined into two, then maybe they have taken the 2 pieces away, thus no shot of it arriving. Also, what could the reward be. Why give a reward when you're about to combine the tribes? Maybe Mogo Mogo is the reward. Chapera and Saboga win Reward, have to go back and build a raft to pick up their new tribe members. Saboga picks up 3 members, Chapera 2. Just a thought, hopefully we'll get more with new vidcaps. Samboohoo   Top

"RE: No Immunity Idol Shown/No Mogo Raft" I am in total agreement with most of you when you say something is out of order in the vid caps! I don't like the idea of the losing tribe being consolidated into the other two tribes. The losing team will be the prime targets for the first boot when their tribe goes to TC. No matter if you give them one TC of immunity they are at a disadavantage. Also, you would have to give both tribes one round of immunity to both tribes. I don't like the idea of having any type of choosing, consolidating or giving a person any say as to who goes on either tribe. It is a big disadvantage. In S7 Burton and Lil appeared to be prime targets after they rejoined the game and they became major players. Although the dynamics of this merge will be different, I think this group of players on all three tribes are better than those two and and if forced into a new tribe they will be able to adapt quickly. Although I have been wrong before.   Top

But E3 RC (build shelter): Sue, Amber, Richard, Jenna M, E3 IC: Unknown Jenna leaves E4 RC (match game): Sue, Tom, Colby E4 IC (cube challenge): Rob C, Amber, Shii Ann So Sue sat out in two back to back challenges. There is a debate over whether the sit out rule resets each week, or if it really isn't enforced. Or because the E3 IC was cancelled, the sit out rule reset. I don't know. But I don't think they determined for sure that the sit out rule is strict and continues from week to week.   Top

(as was suggested above and by my husband last night when we watched) I think that could definitely tie in with the "being bamboozled" part. I do think the merge will happen this episode but have no speculation yet as to how they will be doing it. It does seem from SA's reaction that perhaps MM will be the ones divided up somehow. Although that may be stretching a bit... Also, Shakes great Rupert reference. You really made me laugh! I am 40 years old and have been building rafts for 20 years. That was a good one!   Top
