"Not a Spoiler, but an interesting and amusing behind the scenes article." |
I just posted this on the other forum, but decided to post it here as well. It sounds like the other contestants had to fend Rich off in more ways than one. Sean did mention Rich's flirting on the radio the other day. Here is the article: FORGET the rats, snakes and tropical storms the biggest threat Survivor star Greg Buis faced on the show's remote island was the sexual overtures made by his gay co-star Richard Hatch, say family members. As the hit CBS show unfolded, America was shocked to see Richard, 39, an openly gay corporate trainer who liked to traipse around in the nude, cozying up to Greg, 24, a handsome blond journeyman carpenter. "Greg told us that Richard hit on him a few times," Buis family friend Rick Geesaman says. "He wasn't exactly pleased, but he dealt with it. He even jokingly flirted back, but it was only a joke!" Since Greg was voted off by his fellow castaways, he's kept a low profile but Star has uncovered the dirty details behind Richard's behavior. "Initially, Greg wasn't really bothered by Richard's flirting," Greg's big sister Julie says. Julie was seen by millions of viewers when her brother won a reward challenge that allowed him to watch a videotape of his sibling made especially for him. "Later it became a bit distasteful, especially when Richard was walking around naked in the camp. "Greg's a good-looking guy and he spent most of his time just wearing shorts, so Richard had his eyes on him a lot. "That was bad enough, but then Richard started going around naked and Greg would catch him staring. That's creepy!"
The Survivor castaways started the show split into two groups, with Richard in the Tagi tribe and Greg part of the Pagong tribe. As weeks went by, the tribes merged. That's when Richard began to notice Greg. "Greg liked Richard at first," Julie explains. "He considered Richard arrogant, but interesting." But Greg felt Richard's wrath when he spurned his advances and mockingly flirted with him on camera, Julie says. "Richard organized a voting block to get rid of Greg," Julie says. "What's more, Richard was vindictive, singing 'Goodbye sweetheart, it's time for you to go' as he voted Greg off the island." "Ultimately, Greg just shrugged off the experience. Besides, while he was on the island, he was focusing on his romance with Colleen." As the Star reported last month, college student Colleen Haskell, 23, and Greg raised their Pagong tribe's eyebrows with a sizzling romance. "Greg told me there were other offers of sex, too," one of his pals reveals. "He said he had thinly veiled offers from two of the girls if he didn't vote them off." Colleen and Greg continued their affair after filming ended, and he even flew her to his Rocky Mountain hideaway in Gold Hill, Colo. "This one's serious," says Greg's friend Rick. "It's a true romance." As Greg showed Colleen around, he wore full cowboy gear: Stetson hat, leather waistcoat, work pants and cowboy boots, his work clothes from the horse ranch where he's worked since returning to the U.S. And that's not the only thing that's different about the Ivy League graduate jack-of-all-trades. Out of all the survivors, gregarious Greg was the one who left the island in style after he was voted off! "Greg made some friends in the crew, and they fed him Scotch and cigars," Julie reveals. "When it was time to go, he was the only one helicoptered out, instead of having to spend four hours in a boat." Survivor ends in a spectacular three-hour finale on CBS on Aug. 23, and his friend says it's a shame that Greg didn't make it to the end. "Greg was the best-qualified survivor," Rick adds. "He's an adventurer who's trained as a woodsman, a tracker with Indian skills and a survival camp instructor."

Where did this come from? Sounds like the Nat'l Enquirer or some similar pub. Really not much to go on...

As I said nopants it's not much of a spoiler, just an amusing article. I found this story floating on the net, but the source was probably one of those magazines.

Here's a link to an excerpt about Rich from Episode 6 at http://www.cbs.com/network/tvshows/mini/survivor/show/episode6/story_pt5.shtml ."Not only has Richard told Sean flat-out that Sean is his "type", he has begun having vivid dreams about Sean as well."
