"Passion versus talent?"
If I have to hear Ilan say one more time that he has more passion about his food than Marcel does, I'm going to scream. Or throw up. Or, quite possibly, both. That strikes me as a very arrogant thing to say, to judge somebody else's passion.

You want to diss somebody's talent? Sure. You've seen it. You've even tasted it. But passion? You have no idea, buddy.

I would never trash talk somebody's passion, or pretend that I could judge it. Evidentally, Ilan thinks he's the star in the 'Passion of the Kitchen'. Blech.

1. "RE: Passion versus talent?"
Totally agree...

No one can possibly guess how much passion someone has.

PLUS, just from listening to both of them talk, Marcel sounds more passionate than Ilan. Ilan just sounds like a whiney b!tch.

SOOOOOO tired of listening to EVERYONE gritch about Marcel. All of them.

(this reminds me of the frequent AI & ANTM comment "I want it more." How do you know? And the perennial AI comment "I've worked harder than anyone here..." 1. How do you know? 2. then why do you still suck?)

I agree, all of the chefs had the passion, not necessary enough talent!

My favorite to win was Sam, he seem IMHO to had the passion, the talent, while being down to earth!!!

I have to say, while Ilan was never my pick for winner prior to the F2, Marcel was always my pick for loser. From the start Marcel opted to try to play headgames and push the other chefs' buttons, which totally turned me off on him; a truly deserving top chef would never need to do that. Totally immature BostonRob way to play the game.

Agreed. I told my sister that this type of show is about talent, not manipulation or gamesmanship.

Marcel came in with a "Survivor" attitude about being ruthless and not making friends. It's pretty hard to get anyone to feel a sense of comradery or team when you've spent the last how many weeks screwing with them. And then to treat them as if they are too insignificant or stupid to be trusted with the big picture of how he expected his meal to be was a truly major blunder. Truly top chefs know how to inspire their teams. Even obnoxious Gordon Ramsey knows when to scream and cuss and abuse and when to be a mentor.

The strongest man in the world is he who stands alone. — Henrik Ibsen
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. - Henry David Thoreau
