LAST EDITED ON 05-04-04 AT 02:38 PM (EST)I couldn't help but think that if this really was like the Miss America Pageant interview, that LaToya had decreased her chances of winning with her answers. Also, that short, short, almost bald hair style was a bad move, I think. We could see scalp, for Pete's sake!
She was secretive in her replies, although she says that's just her. Fine. Not a problem. But, we want to know our future idol's potential, don't we? So, her hubby and the kids are going to be travelling with her? Are they independently wealthy, or is AI supposed to foot the bill? She seemed to be answering what she thought they wanted to hear, not necessarily what she was feeling. The kids were more relaxed than she was, too. George was cute and entertaining.
As far as judging the finalists, I've found a couple of incidents when I forgot I was watching a contest, and both were George and Fantasia. Even Jen at one point with the Circle of Life. To me, that makes a worthy performance. When Fannie did Summertime the first time, she was amazing. For a 90 second performance, she sang her behind off. Last night, George's Take Me to the Pilot was so energy charged, it was very enjoyable. Jasmine's song was over before I got into it, and Diana's was typical Diana loud. LaToya was a snooze, although she sounded nice. Still, over before I got into it. Just my opinion, of course.
In other words, LaToya needs to step up her personality, cuz we don't necessarily like her as much as we do the others.
(We gotta b*tch or we'll explode!)
Edited to add: After reading the rest of the thread, I just want to say that I noticed George repeating what Ryan said to him, too, but I attributed it to nerves, too. He is very animated, and to be honest, when he first made it on AI, I thought of "Bubba" from Forrest Gump. Of course, I only thought of Bubba because William Hung struck me as AI's own Forrest Gump, and he was such a big thing at the time. Of course, that was a lousy thing to think of George, knowing who he really is. I hope that even if he gets booted, that someone will pick him up and take him further. He would even be good in a sit-com!
