Now that I spilled the beans (3/4 of them, I saved a few in case I had to come back) , reference post #7, about taking Sierra to Greece in the time machine and leaving her there in an urn covered with olives oil, olives, and dates, I should include some details about the trip. You may be curious, and it's always my pleasure to fill in the details. You see, it was during a vacation I took once to Simi, a small, secluded and very lovely island near Rhodes. There is a monastery at the top of the only mountain on the island, reachable by a narrow crumbling road in a ancient Oldsmobile Taxi with bald tires, or by a stairway of a few thousand steps. Opting to take the Taxi up, then unopting at the first hairpin over a deep gorge (bald tires and hairpins don't mix - old Greek saying), I found myself climbing, climbing, climbing. Everything worth seeing in Greece is at the top of a long set of stairs. Taking a break from climbing, winded and with aching legs, I sat down on a bench set into a shallow cave. As I leaned back my hand brushed something soft, and unexpected. I got the willies, but as I pulled the object from its hole in the back of the cave, I was relieved to discover that it was just an umbrella. An awfully old looking umbrella. Silly me, some traveler in the past had accidently forgotten it. And it looked like one of exceptional quality even though it wasn't automatic or folding, or anything. I opened it. And from under the umbrella came a blinding flash. I found myself somewhere (it felt vaguely Brazilian, though I don't know why), sitting in the dirt next to a cute if kinda skinny waif in a convict shirt. And no pants. And for some reason, her bottom, barely peeking out from under the shirt, was blurry. Very PG I thought. Anyway she said she was sick, and would I help her? Her tribe mates were coming overland and should get here in a few hours, and she needed to have the camp built before they arrived. She seemed helpless and my heart went out to her. So, even though I was still pretty befuddled about the whole thing, I decided to help. Well, we managed to build a shelter for her tribe mates, and when we finished we sat down and chugged some water. I pondered the situation anew. The waif, with her shirt sticking to her body was beginning to seem more womanly than the waif I first met even though she was steaming hot from the exertion. She also seemed to be sicker and weaker. I was worried about her. I opened the umbrella to give us some relief from the sun, and once again there was a flash. This time we found ourselves in Ancient Greece on the island of Kos. We were sitting on stone benches looking at a bald old man, but he seemed to be very wise. He was also speaking ancient Greek. This was, of course, Hippocrates, the father of western medicine. He had a "Hi, I'm Hippocrates, Welcome to the Ancient Isle of Kos" name tag on, is how we knew. To our surprise, we noticed that we also had name tags "Hi, I'm Kingfish from the future", and hers read "Hi, I'm Sierra from Survivor Brazil". (So that was her name, good to know). Anyway we recognized the name Hippocrates as a famous doctor from way back, and when he said (using eye commands) that Sierra should get in an urn and let him slather olive oil, dates, and olives all over her, she did it. There is just something about a waif covered in olive oil crouching in an urn...... Anyway, she seems to be getting better, her diet is grapes, dates, olives, pomegranates, she seems perkier and is gaining some weight. She is smoking hot in a toga. I'll leave her there for the time being, but I’m holding on to the umbrella so I can return. Tribe the scribe.   Top
