"Jay was no competition for Byron"
Byron seems like a great guy- and for an "outdoor type" as they called him, he has all the best characteristics- athletic, good looks, good personality, etc.
Jay on the other hand didnt seem like the best that the city has to offer- as a "city guy" he was stiff with no personality or emmotion, not very hip and his actual job descrpition as rather vague

Byron seems like he's a bit of a scoundrel to me, and the dangerous kind. The kind you don't figure out until you're in deep. He gives me the impression that he's not really ready to settle down yet... a bit of a player.

To say Jay was no competition for Byron is like comparing apples and oranges as their personalities and styles were completely different (almost a test of character for the ladies).

It's all about what the ladies really want, and if they are swayed by the Patrick Swayze persona, then Byron is what they will get. On first impressions, you have to rely on physical attraction most of the time, but the girls did get a chance to speak to them which should have brought them back from fantasy to reality. Jay seemed a lot more stable than Byron.

It's a gamble, but I wonder which of the two men would give any of those ladies a second chance?

No those two men don't compare. While my brain was rooting for Jay, my heart was for Bryon. Guess I wasn't alone...

I'm with you on this one sweater puffs. The big red flag was his marriage to a girl who partied all night. Someone said here she was a young Vegas showgirl.

He says he wants love and stability but I'll bet he's attracted to the high-maintainence self absorbed types. and the challenge of chasing someone who is emotionally unavailable.

I think both men came off equally bland in the editing, but Byron's appearance made him seem a little more interesting.

Are you sure it's two former bachelor"ettes" who are coming back?

For some reason I'm under the impression one of them is Trish. Can't remember if I read it, or saw it somewhere.

Not only was she a Vegas showgirl, but she was like 21-years-old. He married a young, wild party girl and suddenly thought she was going to become Suzy Homemaker -- clearly this guy doesn't seem to do much forward thinking...

I think if you are 40 year old guy, you are better off having been married and divorced like Byron rather than Jay- who for all we know has major commitment issues- getting married once is a sign that Byron isnt afriad of commitment, has experience in relationships, knows himslef well enough to get out a bad relationship when he needed to and maybe has learned something from it- I think he was the safer choice than Jay

Any man that's never been married by age 40 has some type of commitment issue. That is a fact!

freakusmaximus, what I really think is, that Jay may be slightly misogynistic. I hate to make a judgement call on someone I've never met. But usually I have a fairly good read on men.

maybe- something was definitely off about him. I mean he isnt an aweful looking guy- I wonder why he never found someone... I think him being divorced would make me more comfortable-or maybe if he said he dated somone for like 10 years and then broke up- but never having come close at 40 seems like there are issues.

You think Trish might be back? Between Krysta and Trish sneaking into his room at night he's gonna be too exhausted to do much dating! But.. "these girls are HOT" he says. He's got 15 beautiful girls there already..and these 2 girls are "hot"?? (Read Trashy) Probably clones of his ex.

I want to give the guy a chance..just speculating like everyone else but.. I think his head says "find a nice girl" and his "heart"? ..No, a little lower, please..says BORING!!

We'll never know about Jay, but I would think any smart girl there who chose him would have slipped him her phone # just in case he wasn't chosen.

I still think any man has a hard time mustering up strong feelings for girls who are waiting at his feet the way the bachelor is done. And the girls who are picked cannot feel very special after weeks of hearing "I'm so confused I can't decide" ..she isn't really chosen, it's more a process of elimination.

If he was smart he (or any of the bachelors) would say in confessionals- maybe at the final 4, that there someone who is tugging at his heart, but could still keep the guesses going by doing the obligatory statments "susie and I really connected" "Mary is AWEsome" etc. So even if he doesn't have a clue yet, in the end they will think they were special and not the flip of a coin.

Jay just seemed to be a bit of a snob. He kept saying that the choice between them was a choice of lifestyle, meaning I am rich and he is not. He was way too stiff, could not imagine him living with the girls and goofing around with them.

On the other hand, I don't like this concept of the huy living with the girls, it seems to lead to more flirting and catfighting than before. The show was never wholesome, but there is something sleazy about the way the girls were all over him all the time in the previews.

I think that by spending more time with the girls, he gets to know them better, more bonding=- its more natural and I am sure the network thinks its more likely to lead to a real marraige
