Transcript and Vidcaps courtesy of SurvivorFever.net

Probst: Next time on Survivor, the rain is relentless...

Stephen (cam conf): I just need some ray of hope.

Keith: People ask me if Survivor is fun. Survivor aint fun. Going on a cruise is fun.

The IC...looks familiar. Anyone recall this particular one? Is it endurance?

Now, regarding this:

...and forces a decision that could change the game.

Do you really think this is as innocuous as offering to opt out for food?

All the pics of Stephen crying makes me feel that he is FIRMLY NOT our winner.

OFG Theory boot candidates:

Stephen, Spencer, Kelley, Ciara, Keith, KImmi, Joe

Questionably safe: Abi, Tasha, Jeremy

Yeah they did this challenge on Survivor San Juan Del Sur. You are standing on a block and balancing a ball against the wood.

Keith did this challenge and was out 3rd.

Natalie, Jacyln, Jon, Baylor, Keith, Missy then Alec.

Natalie won.

So 4th Endurance challenge and I see Joe winning again.

Also this was a challenge they used for reward in a double boot episode.

That really looks like a picnic table in the back so what else could it be? You know the promo dept.: They make everything sound much more curcial than it really is. Probably someone sits out and says something like: I hope you won't vote me out because of this.

I know they aren't required to but wouldn't it be infuriating if the truth is in which hand they are holding out?

If Kelley, Keith and Jeremy sit this one out... I'll throw a hamburger at the screen.
BUT... it's a good place to start. Considering the three of them didn't win reward.

I can't believe Kelley would go for it, but she might just be at that "Fudgestick It!" stage.

LAST EDITED ON 11-19-15 AT 11:42 PM (EST)

Kona at MESS has placed the IC ScreenCaps in Sheldor Order. And below is a section of them.

I thought that the times on the last two that I've shown here were interesting. Only two minutes of 'air time' separates them. And it seems to me that that is a very short amount of time to show a complete IC and a transition to the beach/camp.

So I wonder if perhaps the rocks are a vote? Forego the IC for some sort of reward (rain gear would be nice ... ) and no one has Immunity during the following TC ...

Of course, the person making the ScreenCaps may have fast-forwarded through the IC footage. But I thought it was worth noting.

ETA: There is also a 17-ScreenCap gap between the two. So, something worth capturing happened in those two minutes ...

Don't read too much into that one. The IC itself shouldn't last too long, which is why there is the burger-fest choice of rocks. Play for Immunity or Eat Food. Your choice.

Don't read too much into that one.

I'm trying, but ...

The person making the ScreenCaps took 17 of them in those two minutes. So, he/she didn't fast-forward through the footage. And I just don't know how you show the audience (beginning with the moment that the players reveal their decisions) 1) everyone taking their respective positions, 2) the Endurance Challenge/Feasting and 3) the IN Ceremony/Walk-Off in ... two minutes.

Unless only one player chose to compete and the IN was awarded immediately and the feasting concluded quickly - or - the Challenge/Feasting were both over and done in record time - or - the 17 ScreenCaps were of something other than the standard IC/Option format.

ETA However, Kona now has this to say: "Short time gap, but long image number gap, so the screen grabber probably skipped over the challenge."

So, I suppose that I just don't have a clear understanding of how ScreenCaps are made ... by professionals.

And I'm taking your good advice, sir. But, I still think it's all a little ... strange.

( REWARD CHALLENGE )

( Keith, Jeremy, Stephen, Kelley, and Kimmi )

( Joe, Ciera, Spencer, Tasha, and Abi )

( I believe our winners are Joe's team because of these next pictures. )

( Notice how in 1 picture with Kelley with the red blanket that she haves on glasses and sitting next to Spencer, Stephen, and Ciera. In the other she have no glasses on and sitting next to Stephen. Jeremy has on his hoodie in 1 picture and in the other he doesn't have it on. Also you could only see Jeremy, Kelley, Stephen and Kimmi who was apart of the same Reward challenge team. )

-This could be after the immunity challenge or the next episode-

( Jeremy, Spencer, Tasha, and Joe talking together )

I think it's the morning after tribal council in that picture. I don't think they did the Immunity Challenge yet. I think this picture is right before the Reward Challenge.

I believe just before the next tribal council it was sunny and not rainy like in that picture.

Kona at Sucks noted that it was in the midst of a 6 day rain pattern. So, without timestamps there isn't really a time for this picture. Judging by the IC and the pics taken right after, it was indeed very cloudy. A lot of these tropical weather patterns come in bands, so no way to tell.

You could be right, but I don't think it should be discounted, unless Sheldor can get time stamps for them or screen grab times.

Seriously, this is going to be horrible to watch. They are all freezing and shivering and probably hypothermic. They need to just lay down right next to each other and put all the things that could cover them over themselves. They need to win another tarp in the reward, and use it as a blanket.

Stephen thinks his body is shutting down, and he is convincing himself he's not quitting. If any of them get weak like that, they could be toast. Stephen in such dire straights....misdirection or foreshadowing?

If Episode 12 was titled, "How does she do it?" Does that pertain to another Wentworth miracle, or another Ciera miracle?

I think that they have more than one tarp. In fact, perhaps it is a tarp that is spread out beneath the lengths of bamboo at the foot of their shelter. But, it would probably be better to hang a second tarp in front of them - to turn the rain and the wind - than it would be to cover themselves with it in a pelting rain.

Because canvas, once touched/handled when wet, no longer repels water. And I learned that the hard way the first time my husband and I stayed overnight in a tent during a driving rainstorm.

ETA: Of course, if the tarps are plastic/vinyl-coated then you're very right. Blankets they should be!

Stephen in such dire straights....misdirection or foreshadowing?

I think ... misdirection. Unfortunately, I don't think that he'll quit. Or be the recipient of a sympathy vote. And I am so unhappy about Stephen. Because when I first knew he was playing again, I was so pleased.

If Episode 12 was titled, "How does she do it?" Does that pertain to another Wentworth miracle, or another Ciera miracle?

Maybe Abi-Maria: a comment on her ability to become ever more - and more - irritating. But, of the two other witches, I would think - Kelley. However, it would almost have to mean that one of Jeremy's HIIs is played in Episode 10 or 11 and re-hidden.

The title How Does She Do It is for the next Episode of Supergirl on CBS.

So, just an error. And nothing to do with Survivor.

You know, I thought about that. And came to the conclusion that if that was the case - that if the players were denied the use of any of the resources at hand in their camp to shelter themselves - and they complied - then I have absolutely no sympathy for them.

I'm sure you've noticed that none of the shelters ever built had 4 walls to protect them from the wind and rain.

I have. But improvisation during extreme weather events is, to me, another matter entirely. Jason's private cave (during Micronesia) and Shambo's brush-fronted tree hollow (during Samoa) come to mind. And Jason's cave is only one instance of players using caves to protect themselves from the elements and/or (so they thought) prying eyes. Too, now that I think of it, weren't players permitted to construct and sleep in fully-enclosed and palm-roofed shelters during Gabon? With only narrow door-way openings? And Tony didn't even seem to need inclement weather to obtain a building permit for his Spy Shack.

So, the fact is that anything and anyone that Survivor's production crew wishes to record (inside or outside of any structure) can be memorialized with remotely-operated cameras and microphones no larger than a coin. 24/7/39.

And I would much rather see how clever - or, thinking of Rupert's sand castle, how foolish - the players can be than to bear witness to how miserable they can be made.

Maybe some of the players that have quit over the years were players that didn't want to comply.

I would think that that is probably true. Because to participate in Challenges, or to sit for the length of a Confessional or a Tribal Council, or to forego eating because my Tribe wasn't resourceful enough to protect a fire is one thing, but to have some rain-slickered jerk tell me that I couldn't use my wits and my Tribe's freely-given or fairly-won commodities to shelter myself and others in our camp during a days-long storm because he needed us to be as utterly wretched as possible for his camera's benefit is quite another.

But, I wouldn't quit. I would stay under that warm, dry, little over-turned boat until they were forced to fire me. Along with, I would hope, enough of my tribemates to make the exercise a serious - but reversible - error ...

I don't think that the producers would enjoy having to defend kicking a survivor off the island for seeking shelter under a boat. But it would a tight (albeit warmer) fit for all of them at once.

Speaking of which, body heat? Heat of the hive? OK, I'm picturing a heaped up snore-fest of nose whistles. I do not think the producers or editors would turn down that scene.

And considering that normally they would welcome and even encourage a cross breeze in what would be normally hot tropical weather (believe me, that really helps at night with no A/C), shelter walls are actually a be a bad idea. Except of course, when the monsoons hit. You build the platform to get you off the ground and a roof to block the sun. Until they get tarps, and unless they have experience with them, those palm frond roofs probably aren't rainproof.

Walls? Why would you erect walls? Camera rules probably aren't the reason there are no walls. A sweat box isn't what you would be aiming for.

Yes, it would be a tight fit for all of them at once. Even with two of those boats available. And, although I think that I've seen two of the boats in photographs of the merged camp, I'm not sure of that. In any event, I don't think that you could fit more than two to three people under each one of them. Which is why I wondered - way back up there in Post #31 - why they didn't seem to be taking turns sheltering beneath them. But, it's certainly possible that they are. Off-camera. Away from the shelter.

Speaking of which, body heat? Heat of the hive? OK, I'm picturing a heaped up snore-fest of nose whistles. I do not think the producers or editors would turn down that scene.

What a picture! And, no, I don't think that the editors could resist that ...

Until they get tarps, and unless they have experience with them, those palm frond roofs probably aren't rainproof.

I'm pretty sure that they are using one or two tarps as a roof and (perhaps) as a backdrop for the shelter. And it's possible that they have three (as well as I remember each of the three tribes - including Angkor - had a tarp). But it's also possible that not all three of those tarps made it to the merge. And I did suggest hanging the third one that may - or may not - exist and that may - or may not - be in use - across the face of the shelter to block the wind and rain. But, having thought more about that, I'm not certain that the roof of the shelter could support a drenched (canvas) tarp.

Walls? Why would you erect walls? Camera rules probably aren't the reason there are no walls. A sweat box isn't what you would be aiming for.

I wouldn't. Want to build walls. Because, although I've never spent any appreciable amount of time in tropical climates, I have lived for seventy-three years in a West Virginia valley subject to air-inversions during our hot and humid summers.

And one of my most vivid memories is of the ridicule my grandfather endured (well, actually, enjoyed) when, in the very early (pre-central air) '50s he built, on our hillside, a beautiful Florida-style rancher with glass walls across its front (fitted with vertical wooden blinds that were opened wide in the winter to allow the sun to heat his home and adjusted in the summer to filter the sunlight) and a breezeway between the house and its garages that funneled a constant flow of cooled air to his backyard patio. And, of course, the ridicule stopped when my grandfather had the lowest heating bills in the neighborhood and the most comfortable outdoor gathering place in the family.

So, I appreciate the importance of breezes.

I was just responding to Michel's comment that no shelters had ever been built with four walls when I happened to remember the
hut-like circular shelters that Bob was so adept at building in Gabon.

And I tend to agree with you that Camera rules probably aren't the reason there are no walls. In fact, that was the point I was trying to make by citing several instances when Survivors retreated to enclosed (or semi-enclosed) spaces that precluded the use of bulky filming equipment.

In short: I think that if, as Michel has suggested, Cambodia's players might have been denied the use of any of the materials at hand in their camp to improvise shelter for themselves during that six-day rain because the producers wanted unencumbered shots of them being as pathetically miserable as the lack of that shelter could possibly make them - that stinks!

Because I would rather look at my screen and think How smart! than to look at it and think How sad!

Good to hear from you, Kingfish ...

Jason's cave, Shambo's tree and Tony's shack were all one person dwellings. The producers don't mind if someone wants to isolate himself since he can't talk to anyone. They don't want a group to be out of reach of their cameras. Gabon may have been an exception but the shelters have to give access to the camera crews.

By the way, this discussion reminds me of something: I'm sure you remember this scene:

That's when Mookie gave the idol to Alex. Dreamz saw the exchange and reported it to Earl. The alliance quickly switched target and Edgardo was voted out. We all thought those guys were idiots to do the exchange where Dreamz could see them but I think they were forced to do so. The rules state that the exchange has to be caught on camera and they were probably told that there wasn't any camera crews available to accompany them out into the woods before TC. If so, that's another example that "reality TV" isn't that real.

Some mutinies have worked in the past. In Borneo Jenna forced them to give more interesting rewards by saying everyone was about to quit. What do you do though when all your fellow castaways come to the realization that if you want to quit, well that's one less opponent to beat. I'm pretty sure that's what happened with Na'Onka and Kelly. They probably wanted the staff to give them more to wear than their bathing suits but were refused. Their rebellion didn't work out too well.

If you stayed under that boat, I'm guessing this is what us as viewers would see:

It's time for the reward challenge but Geogianna is nowhere to be found. The tribe gathers near the water, shouts your name a few times, one dumb girl asks if a monkey could have eaten you then we'd join Probst when he is telling the other tribe that you could not be found, that a crew was sent looking for you but that the game has to go on so that disqualifies you. End of mutiny.

They don't want a group to be out of reach of their cameras. Gabon may have been an exception but the shelters have to give access to the camera crews.

But, I haven't argued that they don't have to give access to the camera crews, Michel. I have said, instead, that it is a fact that Survivor's film crews have at their disposal a vast array of recording devices that permit them to film anyone, anywhere and in any circumstance ... at will. Even under an overturned boat. Where you can do that with small, battery-powered, remotely-controlled devices affixed to the underside of that boat. Or with body-cams worn by the Survivors themselves. Or, I'm certain, via dozens of other ways that I've never heard of. And if they can manage to surreptitiously record Amanda's and Ozzy's fumblings, they can most certainly figure a way to film these players from the dry side of a canvas curtain affording them some small protection from 7.7 inches of driving rain (accompanied by wind gusts of up to 35 mph) over the course of one three-day filming cycle.

But, in saying all of that, I am presuming a lot. Because I don't know precisely what the Survivors had at hand and what they didn't. And I haven't suggested that they should have demanded anything more than the resources they had available. Part of the Game is - still - surviving. And if, knowing that they were in a tropical climate during the rainy season, they neglected their camp in favor of their intrigues, then that's on them. As it is, in my opinion, on them if they were denied the use of on-site mateials to protect themselves from the extreme weather in order for the camera crews to record them in a pitiable state because it's considered to be good television. And they acquiesced.

But, good television is, I admit, a matter of personal taste. For instance:

Obviously, there is much about Survivor that I enjoy. And the fact that it is a very physically demanding Game is one of those things. But, I don't enjoy watching privileged Americans play at extreme deprivation when there is so much of the real stuff playing havoc with lives all over our world.

As for mutinies:

Although I did say it obliquely - because to participate in Challenges, or to sit for the length of a Confessional or a Tribal Council, or to forego eating because my Tribe wasn't resourceful enough to protect a fire is one thing - I did, I thought, indicate that the hypothetical Georgianna would crawl out from under the boat to participate in camp chores, change places with her tribemates and show up, on time, for Challenges, Confessionals and Tribal Councils. She just wouldn't do it (unless it was her turn to give up the boat) to go sit in a posed lineup of seriously bedraggled human beings - in a wind-driven downpour - for hours on end because misery looks better in HD.

But, I have no doubt that you are right. That for all of that indignation, she would, in the end, disappear into that pool of forgotten Survivors with barely a ripple.

Of course, now all of this has become moot. Because we're about to see what Cambodia's players did with Jeff Probst's slick little proposal. And, if it were up to the hypothetical Georgianna, she would just say - Here you go, Joe! - and skip merrily off to the new digs. But I have a feeling that we'll hear some line-toeing speech (probably delivered by Tasha) that ends with - We're all here to win, Jeff - that will be followed by another investiture of Joe (anyway) and then they will all skip merrily off to sit in the rain some more.

However, I do have the tiniest bit of hope:

Because it just may be that the two minutes of air time between the Survivor's revelation of their votes and the shots of Joe, Spencer, Tasha and Jeremy on the beach that I noted up above really was just two minutes of air time (and not the product of a fast-forward button). And since we now know that the 17 ScreenCaps that were taken during that time frame were of something other than the standard Compete-or-Feast option, it is possible that the scant time is a reflection of a very short - and sparsely attended - Immunity Challenge.

And I really would like to see what a Survivor construction crew constructs when they construct a shelter.

Yes, there is a multitude of devices that could be used to film them in secluded areas but Survivor doesn't use them. It's in the players contracts that they have to be always available to be filmed and recorded so they really don't have a choice but to sit in the open. Survivor paid a lot of money for those HD cameras so they wouldn't want to have to use a small cam inside a boat that could be totally blocked out by a player's rear end.

Also, it could be a question of unionized workers. The crews would probably not accept being replaced by those devices and since they do need the staff whenever the player start moving around then they don't want their crew to mutiny!

I'm with you though on what makes good TV though. I'd rather have them wearing parkas like they had in Australia. Toughness should be in the challenges: More treks, more searches in the jungle for water sources. Or how about Survival competitions? Give them a compass and ask them to find one of their tribe mates that would be somewhere on the other side of the island. Challenges these days have nothing to do with surviving. Reward? Go find them! Hide two boxes of supplies, one large, one small, give them maps or send them on a scavenger hunt with clues along the way and good luck!

As for the type of shelter that the staff would build, we saw that in Palau's episode 4? Koror won a "deluxe" shelter...and it was open in front:

5 have to give up playing for immunity and they will water proof and rebuild their shelter for them.

Frankly, I am HAPPY that production saw the need for this to happen. Hypothermia is a far more dangerous condition than other perils they've faced. Shivering increases oxygen consumption by 300%. It will drain them faster than ANYTHING. They need to fortify their shelter whether they choose to participate or not. I bet that all of them except a few vote for shelter.

To me it's like choose life or death. It IS that dire, at least it appears to be.

Thanks, Sheldor! Putting them in the right order always helps us with the time line. Clear to see that picture of them in the pouring rain with the IN in sight is indeed the day after TC, and before the RC. Also nice to see that after the IC, that Jeremy/Spencer/Tasha/Joe are conspiring.

I would think that Stephen, Keith, and Kimmi are safe. I would suspect that they are conspiring most likely regarding one of the witches....? But, who knows what the witches have stirred up?
