"Sean's final words"
A common arguement in defense of the TA is that CBS is editing the footage to make them appear to be villians. How can we judge them when we only see one hour for every 72 they spend on the island. I'm not saying this isn't still a valid arguement, but consider Sean's final words...

"I think that they know how they conducted themselves. They conducted themselves in a pretty sinister fashion and I think that will show up on tape, I think the American public will know that."

Sean spent 24 hours a day with these people for over a month. And when he gave his parting speech he was still unaware of how anybody would actually be portrayed to the public.

Good point. I think they do edit to keep it suspenseful, and in my opinion, going just a little bit overboard in doing so, but I think for the most part the contestents are responsponsible for their own actions, comments and how they carried themselves. They knew about the cameras. I think a lot of the negativity Rich and Sue are getting was brought on by themselves by showboating for the camera. I doubt either one of them are quite that extreme in real life. But just to give the Devil his due, I'd sure hate to be either one of them right now. It's gotta suck to watch t.v., listen to the radio, read magazines or message boards, etc. and hear/see what people are saying about them. I'm not putting people down for making fun of them, (I'm as guilty as anybody) and like I said, they brought it on themselves...I'm just saying I wouldn't trade places with them... Not for a million dollars. The punishment doesn't fit the crime.

I agree that the show is edited to clearly point out who the villians are, and Richard and Susan are most likely not that extreme in real life. And also to be fair, Sean didn't mention any names. It's possible he was talking about Rudy or Kelly, and I just assumed he meant Richard and Susan.

I thought it was interesting that Jeff asked Richard what he thought the public would think of him. The 3 possiblities are 1) The people on the island really thought of Richard as the bad guy, and Jeff wanted to see if Rich saw this himself (I figure they wouldn't ask this question to someone everyone liked), 2) The producers planned on portraying Rich as the villian this early on or 3) They asked that of everybody left, and since Rich is probably the least popular in the public's eye, his was the answer they aired.

I also agree the punishment definately doesn't fit the crime. (though I'm not sure I wouldn't take it for a million - screams of public hatred wouldn't be so loud if I listened from my yacht).

By that point Kelly had seen the first figve minutes of episode 1.

I can't remember, did that include Rich sitting in his tree and sue's speech (which Jeff brought up at TC) saying corporate America wouldn't play there?

All I really remember is that ep. 1 focussed on Tagi FAR more than Pagong.
