As the song when on, she got better and by the end WOW!!!! Girl can sing! I don't see how anyone can say it was "all over the place"! That girl proved she has what it takes to stay in the competition. I LOVE Latoya but thought that note she hit, which Paula said "gave her chills" was soooo not on, by far her worst performance in my opinion but she's going nowhere. As for Miss Fantasia, what was up with her little girl being brought out?! That could backfire totally. What she did was not SING. She didn't sing at all, she screamed and I did feel like I was at a church revival. but is that what we want our American Idol to be?? Jennifer had the best performance. So impressed but all she can sing is slow songs, which she proved she can do damn good on! My order for the night: 1. Jennifer
2. Diana
3. Latoya
4. Jasmine
5. Fantasia
6. John S.
7. George (and I so was rooting for him! WAY too many runs!) John S. started strong, believe it or not, and it wasn't horrible, but didn't compare to the others. George had a very bad night, his worst so far but I don't think he will be leaving. Bottom three: George, John S. and Jasmine. When Simon makes up his mind about someone (i.e. Fantasia) they could get up there and pass gas for ten minutes and he would say he's glad they are in the competition. Granted at least it wasn't slow like all the others, I was beginning to fall asleep, but I have no idea how anyone could call that singing! Props to Diana! Good girl, proved me right!!!

I read that George had been sick also. The problem I think with George is he does have a unique style and if you remember all the judges were saying to make the song your own, change the song, so I think he is trying to do that. Lets face it Barry manilow is very hard to sing. George is taking chances that may not work. I did not like Fantasia's version of Its a Miracle but of course Randy and Simon loved it. I think they love who they love and whether they perform well or not they are going to try and push them on. The otheres they have to criticize to try and get them out.

In a way yes- John stevens is to me consistantly bad, therfore repetitive. Latoya is consistant in a league of her own. She is consistant to "Ain't goin' down till the sun comes up" to "Somewhere".....Consistantly on key, great control, and classiness! Way to go Latoya...another steller performance! I can't wait till next week and when you are the next American Idol!

Jennifer is my favorite, but I think La Toya will give her a run for the gold. La Toya came on AI already a pro. She can sing (in key!!!), and she has a professional personna. Doesn't seem to have much zip to her personality, though. That might work against her if she's in the final two with Jennifer or Fantasia.

Here is one voice that we can listen to and actually hear the words!!!!!! If I didn't want to enjoy the words to a song, I would listen to instrumental...not the screaching that some seem to enjoy. I closed my eyes, sat back and enjoyed the beautiful voice. He did a great job tonight. My favorites tonight...Diana, John and Latoya. Least favorite...George and Fantasia!!!!!

I am no John fan, and I REALLY TRIED to give him a chance tonight because on another thread, someone suggested that we close our eyes and just listen. I did just that. At first, I ALMOST changed my mind, but he deteriorated quickly. The poor kid just isn't star quality yet. I even realized why he is so stiff and droning. He said it himself, and Barry even tried to explain it before he came on. John is too worried about the song meter, the tempo, the notes. Someone on the other thread said it's because he's used to singing in a group, not alone up there. He had just come back from some chorus trip overseas before trying out, I think I read somewhere. So, while the others are more accustomed to putting some of their own spice into songs, John is singing like a metronome (that's the word, I hope!) - tick, tock, tick, tock, 1-2-3-4. If nothing else, he has improved some since they brought him on. But, he simply can't compete with the 3 D's. If he stays and George goes because of ONE bad performance, something is wrong. Even the judges have run out of things to say, except "You know that I like you, right?" He needs to go home.

By the way saying "she's in a league of her own" and then saying you can go to any church and hear what she brings, doesn't make sense. *laughing so hard it hurts*

Well, You have a terrific sense of humor. That might explain why you are a Jennifer fan. Her performances on AI3 have been comical. She dresses like a performer in the Cirque Du Soleil. And the faces she makes...She always seems to get the uh-oh-face, as if she remembers she left the iron on or something. It must be true the whole world luvs a clown.

Diana! Girl did it tonight, and I didn't expect her too! One word: class!!!! FABULOUS JOB! soo happy she need a good performance to stay in this, and in my opinion, second best of the night!What fantasia did was NOT SING PEOPLE! Too many yea's, OF COURSE, and yes I felt like I was at church, NOT AMERICAN IDOL! That was not singing in my opinion. Even Latoya didn't do as well as I thought she would, but she's going nowhere. Shedevil,It's amazing that you could vote 500 times for someone in the time allotted in one night! You might recall on the John's school is voting thread, someone actually thought that (not a direct quote, but close!)"It's unlikely that 200 high school kids somewhere are going to make a difference" in whether or not John stayed or was booted. For one thing, East Amherst is a suburb of Buffalo, and those schools have FAR MORE than 200 kids. But, even at 200 kids voting 500 times each, that's what, 100,000 votes! Not very far from the difference between Clay and Ruben at the end. Interesting. Congrats to you on the fast fingers, too!

LaToya, without a doubt. She's been consistently the best, IMHO. Jennifer did an outstanding job tonight. Fantasia was pretty good, Diana, George and Jasmine were okay, but please do NOT let John come back another week. It was bad enough having to deal with "Manilow" night (never was a fan), but to hear "Mandy" butchered was cruel and unusual punishment.

Wow...I have to say that I was totally suprised at how nice Simon was tonight. My coments:
I thought Jasmine was weak weak weak.
John needs to be gone, how flat can you sing dude?
Jennifer was good, I really liked her song.
Fantasia was okay, but didn't do a whole lot for me.
Diana made me cry...from diggin my fingers into my ears to stop the noise.
LaToya wasn't bad but I didn't agree with Simon about her being the best in the competition and the other guy...
George? Blech. Blech, blech, blech. He sings flat (not as flat as John, but flat) and I see nothing exceptional about his stage presence. So far Jennifer is the only one tonight that did anything for me. Barry might be able to write the songs but honestly the guy can't sing worth a darn so I'm not sure he should be handing out compliments like whatsherface is give Dion Warwick competition. Oh now don't get me wrong, I owned every Barry record there was, I worshipped the guy, but honestly, he's not a great singer. 
--is admittedly a little harsh tonight but feels she should be given a reprieve because of complications from her .

I agree that LaToya is the strongest and probably the best singer, but I have debated since the beginning that her being married and with a kid (step-child or not) may hinder her progress at the end. She also comes across as older - not only by her professionalism, but by the fact that we really don't know a lot about her personality. I started off groaning that they were letting Fantasia on to the top 12, but I've grown to like her personality, and the heart she puts into each song. Jen was also not high in my book in the beginning, but she's improved so much, I kind of put Fantasia and Jen above LaToya for likeability or that "x-factor". LaToya doesn't really NEED AI to have a career already at this point. She's the BEST, but I wonder if she's available enough to keep her in to the end. By that, I mean married, mom, AND not really showing us much other than her voice. Who knows? Maybe Fannie's kid will get in the way, too. But, maybe all this only applies to the girl votes. Maybe we are more stable when it comes to voting for women than we are with the men?

I thought the baby was a dumb move. Why an advantage??? Not to be critical but this is a 19 year old girl with a 2 year old and she is unwed. Not sure what message that sends out.

I agree that was a sordid attempt at something. Last year you never saw Josh's baby girl until he got booted out of there. They never showed her sitting inthe back. What was that all about?? Maybe Fantasia's Mother was mad she wa not getting airtime herself. It was ridiculous. I agree they are trying to turn things around somehow, somewhere and they are going to have to resort to this to do it. Ridiculous....
