Slip-n-Slide from Fiji: A big slip on the slide caused injuries that caused the eldest HelloMoto to get medivac'd the next episode. Atlasphere/Super-sized roller maze with blindfolds: RussSwell goes down and doesn't get back up on the 2nd attempt. Challenge stopped and RussSwell is medivac'd out. Pit Fighting: After the DQ, and after the match was over. Medical took a look at Mike Berasi and determined that since his vitals were not returning to normal, he had to be medivac'd out of the game. As noted above, this is the first of the two Samoan medivacs.   Top

I'm surprised the Heroes would be sitting out James and Colby on this one, unless there's a rule you have to have a certain amount of females out there. I can't recall how exactly this challenge worked -- maybe it's played in rounds? Also, wasn't there a rumor that James gets hurt in a challenge? I think it's too funny that the Villains tribe is doing Tai Chi on the beach while Russell is looking for the idol.   Top

Last time this challenge was played, only one Survivor had been voted out.........   Top

"RE: Ep 5, "Knights of the Round Table", VIDCAPS" Your memory is good, Vince! I just googled and found last season's Schmergen Brawl challenge on youtube. There are 3 for each team in the "pit" battling for the ball, and then 3 for each team on the platform shooting baskets. (Last season both tribes started with 3 men in the pit and 3 women shooting.) There are rounds, so they rotate in/out. The team that starts in the pit then moves up on the platform. So Colby and James must be waiting their turn. I forgot about Ben getting kicked out last time! Wonder if James will lose his cool and be a bully or will he keep it in check? Also, last time it was a combined RC/IC. "RE: Ep 5, "Knights of the Round Table", VIDCAPS" In this shot we notice Colby with his shirt on, I believe he is sitting out the challenge, as are Russell, Sandra and Courtney. We also note Candice on the platform. And we see James sitting beside Colby. Is James evicted from the challenge because of overaggressive play? I suspect so. In this shot JT is holding a 'ball' while BRob is directing him toward Tyson on the platform, who will try and get the ball. Also on the platform with Tyson are Parv and Danielle. In this shot Jerri and Amanda await a rebound (or a pass), while JT picks up Coach. It also appears that a kneeling Danielle may have a ball in her hand. And JT throws down Coach, stopping play. Also note Tom is throwing a ball in the background. Meanwhile BRob seems to be encouraging Danielle to throw the ball. In this shot Tom has thrown the ball, but is it toward a basket, or a pass to Amanda? It's time for me to find a video on how this game was played last season - shooting from the platform, or passing. How are points made? And what score will be required. (I chuckled when JP said "first team to 4 wins reward in Ep. 4, but when he said 4 he wasn't in the shot - which explained why everyone was oiled up, but we didn't see everyone play.)   Top

Sol, I agree, wouldn't be surprised at all if James is this year's Ben and acts up in this challenge. Even if he doesn't get evicted, he might get overly aggressive. Also, Jeff says in an ET online interview today (see Jeff blog thread for the link) that James might go down as the most disliked player by the end of this season, which led me to believe there might be more James bullying on the horizon. If James does get evicted, that would help explain why the Heroes would lose...otherwise, they should be able to win this challenge hands down. (Only other logical reason they'd lose is if Candice and Amanda are terrible shooters and Jerri, etc. do unexpectedly well.)   Top

If this is indeed true, then it would make sense for James to get hurt this episode or possibly the next. missyae wrote: I doublechecked on a little bit of 20 stuff. What happens with James is an injured knee. He manages to even compete a couple of challenges with it before his tribe votes him out in a sympathy vote. His knee is still injured to this day and might bother him the rest of his life. I'll tried to wade through Sucks this weekend to see if there's more (or updated) info on this. "RE: New Promo, Big News" Thanks Michel -- I was just wondering when we were going to get the web promo or new vidcaps. So the new promo confirms the old Missyae spoilers I posted above. And if the Heroes are playing a man down, that would explain why they lose this challenge (which would seem to favor them). The interesting part from a boot perspective is, if James is hurt, why would JT or others want to boot a strong guy like Tom vs. Candice? Granted, maybe they're still thinking James will get better in this episode. Funny that they sat out Colby; so I guess they can't sub him in? Probably Colby's bad shooting performance in the slip n slide was the reason behind that decision. I'm assuming this must be the IC or a combined RC/IC -- if it were reward only, I'd think that Sandra, etc. would play as they'd rather their weak ones sit out for IC.   Top

I can't understand why they let it go that far. Couldn't agree more, michel. I don't enjoy these knock down drag out wrestling type challenges at all. If I did, I would watch wrestling a la Johnny Fairplay style on tv...yuck. I don't know why they insist on these types of challenges. I like the challenges that are mentally tough, and the race type. But these physical, head to head challenges are for the birds...   Top

My guess is they brought it back for the same reason they are using the same location for S20 as they used for S19 - to save $$. The IC last week sure looked like it was the exact same course as for S19, and I will bet that this brutal challenge is re-using props from last season. I much prefer the racing type challenges to the physical battle ones. This season has great contestants, but they are using too many lousy challenges, IMO.   Top

This is my original crop/enlargement: I cropped it down to just the part showing Tyson, Russell, and Jerri and enlarged it again: I clearly see Tyson carrying a large, red, bulky item, possibly rolled up, over his shoulder. I also clearly see Russell carrying some roundish, red object. Edited to add: Are they allowed to steal objects from the challenge sets? Like cushioning, etc? Also, Jerri's arms are both bent up like she is carrying something. That is an odd posture if she's not.   Top

(We also see him digging for the HII -- gotta think he finds it this episode.) The Dragonslayer/Russell deal must tie in with this week's Knights of the Round Table clues (i.e. a new hierarchy established) and the spoiler rumor that Coach says he won't write Rob's or Russell's names down. Stupid, stupid coach! Sounds like he's trying to do his noble warrior thing again from Tocatins. That spot doesn't look familiar to me (although I must admit I haven't paid as much attention to the setting this season). And you're right, it looks manicured. I'll take a look through some past vidcaps to see if anything similar comes up...or I wonder if Michel would know? Is that a blurred hand (gesturing) in the lower left corner of the shot? (so Coach is talking to someone) Or is that just some foliage? P.S. One other thing I noticed: In the confessional shot of Russell on the rocks, his shorts look really reddish. The landscaping behind coach - almost looks to me like there are two statues, one on either side. If an animal, it could be a dog. They don't have deer in Samoa nor is it an animal that is found in Polynesian artistic representations. Pigs (boar), goats, dogs are the most common larger animals. ETA, those blurry shapes look like dogs to me. I seem to remember that South Pacific dogs tend to have short legs from the types that have interbred. Or maybe I made that up and thought I remembered it. I don't think Coach could have been that scruffy pre-game unless he had a chance to shave the day it started. Which I suppose is possible. They spent at least 2-3 days there during that time they gave the pre-interivews, not sure how long. I just don't know why they'd pull out a pre-game shot of Coach for a promo when there are tons of in game shots they could use. This challenge was an RC before, so makes sense it would be. IC usually has a mental component or a combination of skills.   Top

(I'm blushing, lol) I'm wrong at least as often as I'm right, I thought that was the HII last week in that tree with Russell's hand. Honestly though, vidcaps are my thing and always have been, but whether or not I participate in discussions here is dependent on how busy I am that season. I haven't gotten too involved since maybe Vanuatu, real life has been rough for a few years. I obviously have an abundance of time on my hands this season though, so I'll be around blowing up irrelevant and/or minute details on a regular basis.   Top
