"Fantasia is SOL this week" |
Alright, well if you read my original post entitled "Rethink Fantasia" ya'll already know where I stand on the subject. I see that the "theme" this week will be Elton John songs. Let me start off by saying "bye bye Camille or Jennifer". Neither could DARE sing any of his songs and do him proud. For some reason, I think Jennifer may be the first to go, because it seems she really doesn't have that many fans. Her voice is not bad, but she does need to go back to her cruise ship, because she is not "star of America" with the oversinging and crazy facial expressions. She's got a good voice but it belongs in a church or boat. Camille will stay for one more week I believe, depending on her song choice, because for some reason, she has been labelled as the "cute/hot one". I don't see it, but apparently some do, particularly residents of Hawaii. That's okay though. JPL will do great this season, since we all know his "trademark", or one of them rather, as being "Tiny Dancer". He won't sing that song, in order to give viewers a variety, but he will do good, rest assured. I still don't get the obsession with this kid though...He's a midget! John S., who I dislike with a passion but senior citizens seem to be keeping him in the competition, will also have one of his better performances. Mind you I did not say good, but better. He will pick a good song I think, and it will be more upbeat since he has yet to do one of those. I dont' think it will be fast, though, but MORE upbeat than normal and will stay in the running. Fantasia OF COURSE is going to remain in the competition until the final three or four at least. I can hear it now "And I guess that's why they call it the blues...yea yea yea yea yea yea yea yea yea etc.." you get the point. This will most certainly not be her week to shine, although she can do now wrong in Simon's eyes, so I'm sure he'll say something along the lines of "you're what this competititon is all about".. Can you say deja vu, from Ruben last season! Girl can do no wrong but Randy will say "Yo dawg. It was aight, but this DEFINATELY was not your style." and Paula will just add a drunk response, "You just look wondeful tonight, Fantasia. We all just wanted to embrace your style and applaud your voice as it is so unique and fitting for the star you are"...sounds like something drunkie would say. If she pulls this off, I will post a public apology but can you really imagine Macy Gray doing Elton John? I'll have to see it to believe it. GO DIANA!

>If she pulls this off, I will post a public apology but can you really imagine Macy Gray doing Elton John? I'll have to >see it to believe it. Fantasia can sing a wide range of songs. She did a great job with "Always on my mind" that Willy Nelson (yes Willy Nelson) song a few weeks ago. So get that public apology ready . >GO DIANA! I'm totally with you on Diana though. If she can get over the cutsey image (maybe she needs to be like Olivia-Newton John at the END of Grease), and if Simon gives her a break (not sure why he usually says negative things about her), she could definitely make the top five.

I guess that's a matter of opinion because I don't think she sounds good on any song period. I just don't like her voice, it's not for me.

I could see Fantasia doing okay with "Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting." It kind of fits the style we've seen from her in the past. Also fits her personality... (said tongue in cheek).About the only song I can come up with that John Stevens might choose is "Candle in the Wind." Surely there are others, they just aren't coming to my mind right now and, like you, I am hoping against hope that he will select something more upbeat. It's becoming more and more difficult to listen to him. Would love to hear someone try "Yellow Brick Road" or "Rocket Man." Methinks most of the selections will be newer material so I'm not holding my breath. JenXed
