Mothers Day questions 1. What do you call your mother (Mom, Mama, Mother, etc.)? Mom or Mommy2. Who is your favorite TV/movie mom? Mrs. Brady 3. Did you have a workin’ mom or a stay-at-home mom? I had a working mom who had a VERY flexible job so she was able to be at all of my school functions and drop me off and pick me up everyday from school. 4. What was your favorite meal that your mom cooked? That would have to be her chili. 5. Are you a mom? How many and how old? Not yet – but I do have a niece and a nephew that I feel very maternal towards 6. What’s the favorite Mother’s Day present you ever gave/received? I give my mom the same thing for Mother’s Day every year – so I really don’t have a favorite. I give my mom a Precious Moments (she doesn’t think they are creepy Buggy) – usually one with some sort of angel theme. 7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? Not yet. 8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? My mom definitely. I’m still closer with my mom but my dad and I have also mended our relationship. 9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? Spot memories. 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else? I don’t know if we will do anything except for call our moms. My mom is going out to western North Dakota with my dad this week to play farmer – they may or may not be home by Mother’s Day. Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? Hmmmm…I don’t know who would play either of us. Let me think about it and get back to you.

5. "RE: Mothers Day Not-Too-Strange Questions" |
1. What do you call your mother (Mom, Mama, Mother, etc.)? Mom2. Who is your favorite TV/movie mom? Clair Huxtable and or Lorelei Gilmore - both spunky and quirky. 3. Did you have a workin’ mom or a stay-at-home mom? Both. Most of the time her brain tumor and seizures kept her from working, but she did work on occasion (as we got older she was more capable). She was mostly a SAH single mom. My grandmother was our source of financial support since my birth father had nothing to do with us. 4. What was your favorite meal that your mom cooked? Chicken Paprikash (A Hungarian chicken dish with rice, a creamy paprika sauce, and spaetzle). YUMMY!!!!!!! 5. Are you a mom? How many and how old? Yes, mom to one daughter who is 20.5 months old and the love of my life 6. What’s the favorite Mother’s Day present you ever gave/received? Dh made me a neat photo collage last year (my first mother's day) I don't recall a gift to my mom but I know we did little things when we were really young. Since we've grown up we haven't really done anything. 7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? No, I'll just send her an e-card. We were never big on mother's day in our house - every day was mother's day since we had no dad. 8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? If you have to ask, LOL. My mom is remarried and my step-dad is really great. They've been married almost 9 years now. My mom and I were close when I was very young but we butted heads a lot as I got older. Her tumor had, I think, started to mess with her memory and emotinoal well-beig and she was very hard to live with. We're better now that I'm not at home. 9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? I remember childhood details like crazy. Some things are more vivid than others, but I definitely remember my chidhood very well. 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else? Nothing special planned as far as I know, though I have a feeling I'll be getting flowers or getting a special dinner. I am not a big flower person (as far as gifts anyway) but dh brings them every now and then on special occasions. He bought me very pretty blue roses for our anniversary this year (our wedding was all in blue/silver and my favorite flowers are all blue, so it was very nice). Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? It depends upon which part of my life we'd be focusing on. I'll go with my pre-teen/teenage years since they were the most interesting. I really can't think of anyone who really looks like my mom in Hollywood. Kirstie Alley looks like my mom a little, but I don't like her...so Jennifer Jason Leigh would be my next choice. yeah that works. My mom went rhough a lot of weight gain/loss (pretty big differences) so I just went with someone she looks like from her thinner times. I think my role would be played by Amanda Bynes (or whatever her name is) since it'd focus on teen years and she looks kinda like I did (VERY skinny) and is a goofball like me. ------ That was fun!

Did you have a workin’ mom or a stay-at-home mom? My mom was a hardcore commuter... worked in Manhattan for years, but then retired at the end of my sophomore year in high school... it was then that she started showing up for my fencing meets and field hockey games... she still does tons of volunteer work though, so she's constantly doing something that isn't parenting my sister and I ^__^ 4. What was your favorite meal that your mom cooked? Mom's not an incredible cook, but veal cutlets are always delicious 5. Are you a mom? How many and how old? NOT. 6. What’s the favorite Mother’s Day present you ever gave/received? We rarely "do" Mother's Day in our house... Mom thinks it's a crock, and just another excuse for Hallmark to make money. I agree with her on that... Proof that I love my mom ^__- 7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? nothin'. I will call though 8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? Depends on the stage of my life. Ages 1-4, mom, ages 5-10, dad, 11 onward, mom... very close with both of them, though, I'm just more likely to butt heads with dad because we're so similar 9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? Oh, in HUGE detail... 'course, that could be because I'm only 18, but that's not important 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else? No plans. Please... I'm at college, and my sister's at boarding school... how could we arrange anything? JV's favorite.

Did you have a workin’ mom or a stay-at-home mom? She was a working girl until she had kids, then she blamed us for ruining her career. 4. What was your favourite meal that your mom cooked? Seeing as it was my 4th birthday, I decided I would get up extra early and wake everyone else up about it but nobody seemed as happy about it as I was. Screw them! So I went downstairs and starting watching cartoons. The Tom & Jerry cartoons were average that day and I was disappointed there were no Droppy bits today. I didn't even get a special breakfast, it was the same old...........got into work and figured I would start out my Monday by checking out OT. 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quiet lunch or something else? Hopefully there will be a hockey game on. Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? 1. What do you call your mother (Mom, Mama, Mother, etc.)? Mom. Sometimes Ma, occasionally an exasperated "Motherrrrrr!", but usually just Mom. 2. Who is your favorite TV/movie mom? Mrs. C, Happy Days 3. Did you have a workin’ mom or a stay-at-home mom? Mom stayed at home. I had freakin' Ozzie & Harriet for parents (and no, I don't mean Ozzy Osborne!). 4. What was your favorite meal that your mom cooked? Oh, this could be a long list, because my mother is a terrific cook (with one notable exception - her meatloaf sucks). I'll have to say my favorite was when she would make a huge roast and loads of veggies. 5. Are you a mom? How many and how old? Just a doggie mommy. My girls are 12 and 11. 6. What’s the favorite Mother’s Day present you ever gave/received? I used to make cards for my Mom when I was little - she kept them all. 7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? Yup! Got the cards last week. There was a Pampered Chef catalog floating around a few months ago, so I got her some good loot. Haven't bought for the MIL yet, since Mr. Bebo has vetoed my ideas but not come up with any of his own. I told him if he doesn't give me an idea before Wednesday, it's up to him to shop. 8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? Closer to Mom, since Dad worked a lot. Now, it depends. I'm more like my Dad, so we relate well, but I tend to do a lot of stuff with just Mom too. 9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? My photographic memory is fading a bit, but I still remember a lot. 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else?
I think MIL is going to visit her mom, so we're off the hook there. We'll probably just have a relaxing lunch with my Mom and give her the loot. Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? Me? Jennifer Garner. She and I aren't very much alike, but Mr. Bebo lusts for her, so I'll give him that. Of course, that means I want Michael Vartan to play Mr. Bebo, even though Mr. Bebo's got red hair. Mom? Meryl Streep. My mom's older than she is, but Mom looks young for her age so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. But Mom is pretty, classy, with just the right touch of outrageous humor, so Meryl Streep would fit quite well. Bebo says...919 beats 205 - I am your American Idol and the Baroness of Babedom.

Tea was in the gardens and we had a lovely time walking around the grounds. 7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? Bought her a card and already planned this year's trip. 8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? I'm totally daddy's little girl. Then and now. 9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? Spot memories here and there. 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else? We're going to some gardens we've never been to before. We'll go with dad, MIL, FIL, and my husband. Lunch will be a picnic, because I HATE restaurants on Mother's Day. Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? Me: My DH thinks I look like Jennifer Connolly. I was so upset because I think she is ugly. She has eyebrow issues that need to be addressed. My MIL thinks I look like Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries) after the make over. Ugh! That is the last time I ask anyone who I look like. Mom: Sally Field

>1. What do you call your mother (Mom, Mama, Mother, etc.)? Mom >2. Who is your favorite TV/movie mom? Mrs. Partrige from the Partrige Family. >3. Did you have a workin’ mom or a stay-at-home mom? She was a teacher so only home during July and August. >4. What was your favorite meal that your mom cooked? She still makes if she cooks for my birthday ~ Baked Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Baked Beans, and Angel Food Cake with Strawberry Icing. We just had this for our Easter Dinner and it was sooooo good! >5. Are you a mom? How many and how old? Yep, I'm a mom to one 24 year old son. >6. What’s the favorite Mother’s Day present you ever gave/received? Last Mother's Day my sister and I gave Mom a necklace that came with a small tin can with a pearl inside. There were different colors of pearls for different things such as health, money, wisdom, etc. A portion of the proceeds went to Breast Cancer Research. We were really hoping for the health pearl because it was the area where she needed the most good luck at the time. It was hilarious watching her and my neice open the can and then dig around inside to find the pearl. We were quite pleased to find a health pearl. After finding it, the pearl went inside the mother and child type necklace. Mom loved it and the laughs we had about digging for the pearl just added to it. >7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? Not yet. >8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? I'm close to both my Mom and Dad although I spent a lot of time with my Dad before I started school. He worked 4-12 and my Mom taught during the day so I spent every day with him and we had some great adventures from what he tells me! >9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? I remember much of it. It was a very wonderful childhood. I was blissfully unaware of unpleasant things at the time. I told my Mom about a year ago that I really appreciated the fantastic childhood we were given. I honestly don't have unhappy memories of that time. >10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else? We're going to Toronto this weekend to see Tony 'n Tina's Wedding and will likely shop on the way back on Sunday. Hopefully we'll get back up north in time to make a quick stop at Mom's before heading home. >Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? Sally Field? I don't know. I saw a bit of Smokey and the Bandit yesterday afternoon and that's the only answer I could think of.

What do you call >your mother (Mom, Mama, Mother, >etc.)? I call her Mom, but I really should call her on the phone more often. >2. Who is your favorite >TV/movie mom? Lois from "Malcolm in the Middle". She's a riot! >3. Did you have a >workin’ mom or a stay-at-home >mom? My Mom stayed home and "sacrificed" (yeah, right) for us kids. >4. What was your favorite >meal that your mom cooked? I enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs, because she made the meatballs herself. I also loved her fried chicken, which she often times served with hominy. Her stuffed cabbage was legendary, though, and peeps always requested it. Nowadays, though, she doesn't cook so much and the foods I just mentioned would be a little too greasy for my liking. >5. Are you a mom? How many and how old?
Thankfully, I have a lovely DD, age 13. >6. What’s the favorite Mother’s >Day present you ever gave/received? My favorite gift from DH & DD was strawberry plants. >7. Bought your mom a card/gift yet? Not yet, but thanks for the reminder. > >8. Were you closer to your mom or dad growing up? How ‘bout now? *sigh* I was closer to my mom, but I loved them both the same. Have to remind the DH & DD it's coming up and ask them - So what are we doing for Mom's Day? Maybe having a cookout with the MIL. (I'm closer to my MIL than my own mother, BTW, mainly because we have more in common.) >Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom? Tough question - I was close to each for different reasons. Overall I suppose a little closer to her, but my dad spent a lot of time with me doing sports. Now - obvious answer, though over the past 30 years the answer would in general have been neither. 9. Do you remember your childhood in detail or just spot memories here and there? Another obvious answer - I'm 54! 10. Big plans for Mother’s Day or just a quite lunch or something else? Taking my youngest son on a Dads 'n Lads retreat Friday/Saturday. It ends Saturday evening, but we'll be 5 hours from home so we may stay over at the Super 8 in town and hang around the camp and do some more BMX biking and blading. Sittek has asked for two things for M Day and her birthday on 5/29 - a day just to rest and stay in bed and another day to go out and shop. So, I have to find a way to support these, either by taking a day or two off or making it happen on Saturdays over the next month. Bonus: Cast a movie of your life: who plays you, who plays your mom?
