"Sly In The Jungle with Jim Rome"
I stopped listening to Jim Rome over two years ago and I have no idea why I turned it on today but I am so glad I did!

Sly was on the Jim Rome talk show today and took questions from fans. Here are some things that stick out to me:

* Sly said that at one point in the show there is a match where Sly doesn't think the boxer can take the ring after the third round. The boxer's wife runs up to the ring and tells him something and the boxer takes the ring and does very well.

* This week's episode is about Najai and his family. Sly said he went to Najai's funeral. Sly also said that Najai was such an emotional person and said that when he was around his daughter he acted like a kid. Rome asked Sly if Najai could have killed himself because of something that happened on the show. Sly said absolutely not and then he (Sly) went on to say that each boxer that is on the show has a contract to be promoted after the show is over. He said they wanted to do something for the guys that COULD change their lives.

* Sly said that before the end of the show that one of the guys does something extrodinary. He said that there is a boxer that becomes a man. He said those two things together. Could he be talking about Juan as he is only 18 years old.

* It was Stallone's idea to include the families. Sly went to MB and told him that most boxers were fighting for something else other than themselves and most of the time it is for their families.

It seems to me that MB, Sly and Sugar Ray did the show to help the struggling boxers but also to help the ALL to achieve a better life and not just the winner. I hope the show succeeds and there are other seasons!

I hope this succeeds, as well. And that there WILL be a next season.

Sly has always been a good ambassador for the sport. He continually brought boxing to the mainstream. The sport definitely owes him one. If he pulls this off and breathes more life into the game that would definitely be a crowning achievement.

I know this sounds controversial and I could definitely understand the arguments against it, but since they have a non-participant category at the Boxing Hall of Fame, why not induct Stallone? I think his hard work over the years on behalf of the sport makes him a legitimate candidate.

By the way, Rome has never been anything more than a little sh*t-talking punk.

I was so glad when that weasel got his ##### kicked by Jim Everett. Not only because J.R. asked for it, but also cuz' Everett was my favorite quarterback at the time. (L.A. Rams, baby.)

Thank you for sharing and I must say too bad I did not catch it

Juan get's laid You da' man Juan

Najai † Suicide
You got to be real farked up in the head to go through with it. You got to be hurting real bad. May God bless and keep his soul.

I know I have entertained the thought. Only trouble is, I have had sooo many near death experiences I would swear I was related to Felix the Cat. This is why I did not laugh or make fun of Najai.

People fear death only because they don't know what is on the other side.

To conquer death all one has to do is die.

Maybe Najai's is in a better place and is having a better time than he had here on earth I hope this is the case for most people that die. I am almost sure I am going to hell LOL So I shall try and sustain my life for as long as I can

Jim Rome
It was Jim Rome that got biatch slapped on tv? He was the monkey that used to call Jim.......Chris? lol

I remember the interview and remember the fool talking trash and asking people when would Jim start wearing a dress and answer to the name Chris. Too funny)

Did Rome press charges?

From everything that Sly said about Najai and his home life...he has to be in a better place!

Another thing he said that I didn't put in the original post is that the boxers really got to know each other and there were some real friendships and bonds formed. This has to make them closer and better people in the long run.

I don't if Rome did press charges but his arrogance is one thing that caused me to stop listening to him but I am glad I listened today!

I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
Punks like that, that's what they do: Talk sh*t all day long w/o any respect in the world & when someone finally pulls their card they go running to the nearest courthouse or police station.

That's what happened to DeMarcus Corley. He kept woofing sh*t to Joppy in the gym about the Trinidad fight and when Joppy finally whupped on him, Corley went and sued.

MFer's like that deserve to get nothing but the a**beating they deserved in the first place.

BTW, the Jim Everett-Henry Ellard-Flipper Anderson combo was the best QB/WR trio in NFL history BIAAATCHESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope and believe this too. It's really not possible to tell, but when they showed Najai's eyes, his expression, and so forth, it seemed to me that he carried a very deep sense of loss and sadness with him. What hurts is to think that he knew what it was like to lose a loved parent (his mom), but his pain or depression was so deep, he still took his life and now his daughter will have the same legacy. I hope they have pictures and home movies of how he was with her in happy times, because I do believe he truly loved her more than any other living person.

I know what you mean about that expression he carried on his face.

He had that sad, puppy dog look in his eyes.

Yes, I also believe that his daughter was the brightest spot in his life. I'm sure he cared about his younger siblings as well cuz' he took care of them, but she really brought life into him.

I don't know. Maybe his demeanor, his disposition just led him to do what he did. I know of someone real close who was the same way all his life, always low-key & melancholy, and he ended up doing the same thing.
