PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.
As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

I've voted for Rupert as well. I don't think his game was as good as Pearl Islands, but I have reasons. 1. He did not have the chance to analyze HIS game from Pearl Islands. The others had time to not only look at how other people played but where they made mistakes the first time around. 2. He didn't have time to recover from Pearl Island. I've read interviews with the others saying it took months to recover from the starvation and bites and general conditions. He did do these back to back and he did quite well. 3. I like Rupert and I really think he's very sincere.

I'm curious if this is speculation or you read it somewhere...My ex spent 6 years on Vanuatu as a kid...heard lots of interesting stories and saw lots of pix so it would be kind of neat if it was there...little trivia... he went there with his mom and little bro'...parents split and mom went through a "get-away-from-it-all' phase...they ran a little country store and were one of only 2 white families on their island...the other family was British...the island was still a British territory at the time...Queen Elizabeth and her four kids visited the islands and his family got to meet them...I guess she wanted to meet the crazy Americans who moved to an island that was in such political turmoil...during the revolution for Vanuatu to become its' own country all their property was seized and they were forced out of the country...this all happened in the early 70's...I'm sure the filming would have to be on one of the smaller islands not the main island...

12. "RE: Survivor: Vanuatu" |
>I'm curious if this is speculation or you read it somewhere...Check out this thread. It has plenty of info, especially from Dan and Wezzie of Survivor Maps (they're great): Survivor Maps: Vanuatu, Land of Fire and Magic. Their site (a link is in my earlier post, and below) is also definitely worth checking out. It's Dan and Wezzie who broke the news that Vanuatu might be the site and have found confirmation and additional information since then. They do this sort of thing a lot. >My ex spent 6 years on Vanuatu as a kid...heard lots >of interesting stories and saw lots of pix so it >would be kind of neat if it was there... LAST EDITED ON 05-10-04 AT 12:35 PM (EST)Alicia, player who got blindsided in two series, 0%. Popular in some quarters, however, so may recieve some respectable voting. Amber: winner S8, no chance. Colby: popular cheeseboy will get some groupie voting but it won't be enuff. Ethan: previous winner, has no chance. JennaL.: Single mom lost her greatest emotional pull by having gotten married over the last weekend. Deserves to be recognized, however, as the best Pagong ever, for what that may be worth. JennaM.: previous winner dating previous winner, zero chance squared. Jerri: may get some controversy support but it won't be enough, though her chances of going forward with a movie career as a fem fatale have increased a little bit. Kathy: likeable player, would definitely have won secondchance vote in Survivor: Marquesas, respectable showing in allstars, outside chance. Lex: may get some sympathy what an idiot vote, but mainly he's 1% and needs to grow up. However, he would probably have won secondchance had it been offered in Africa so don't count him out entirely. Still, I think as a player he is way over-rated. Richard: Won S1, has no chance. Rob C.: Would probably have won this had it been held during Amazon, pisspoor showing in Allstars will probably nix his chances. Rob M.: Definitely deserved to win S8 except he waffled at final TC, however engagement to winner Amber nixes his chances. Rudy: Would definitely have won this had it been held for S1, and a genuine hero as portrayed early in S8. Outside chance of winning. Rupert: Popular hero of S7 and S8 (though not quite as much), an utterly likeable guy in every respect who has the best chance of winning a popularity contest. Shii Ann: An under-rated player, Amber giving her a gift of a car probably nixes any chance she would have had of winning this (hey, there is acurse on that). Susan: Ms. Makeover drama queen has little popular support, though a lot of people are probably rooting for her to have a personality makeover. Zero chance, but ya gotta love how she's made the most of her 15 minutes. Tina: S2 winner, has no chance at all. Tom: Goatman, stallwart player who got screwed twice, may have an outside chance but I'll be very surprised if it plays out in his favor.

Great assessment...the weirdest thing about this all was I was glad when ShiiAnn got voted off and then she stepped up to the plate and showed us what the producers must have saw when they cast her...Her straightforwardness and honesty may get her the million but I think there are still some who think Colby was ripped off when he didn't win over Tina so this vote may be settling some old scores...I think Tom damaged himself tonight by not accepting Rob's hand during the reunion show...the first time during council it was kind of funny but the second time I felt Rob was making a sincere apology to Tom...Lex was just angry mean...The other score that might be settled is Kathy getting shut out by Vecepia at the final 3...IMHO Kathy deserved to go to the final 2...Well, just some ramblings...

Rich: I'd have to look at his .... well you know Rob M: I'd be afraid to turn my back Rob C: I'd be irritated. Its only funny until you die of starvation. Rudy: I'd have to put up with a crusty old fart Rupert: I'd have someone who I could trust and would pitch in with the work. Shii Ann: I'd be stuck with the real Witch of A$$. Susan: I'd feel violated and constipated. Tina: I'd have someone decent to chat with. Tom: I'd have a good old boy that I don't understand at all. 43. "RE: Rupert - if I were stuck on an island" |
Ironically, that's almost to the letter why I voted for Rupert. Because in the final view, I know who I want at my back. My vote had nothing to do with gameplay, strategy, heroism or villainy -- I just thought <Who do I most want to see with a million dollars?> and the answer came back <The one I would hand it to, say 'Hold this for me for a year?', and come back to find he'd deposited it to draw some interest for me.> That's all.And to that degree, I'm ashamed of myself. If I was voting gameplay, I would have gone with Boston Rob. Nobility, Rudy (although to be fair, I voted before he made his announcement, so it was really a 'who knew?' problem). Honesty, Shii Ann or Jerri. And if my normal tendencies to drive people insane for no particular reason manifested, Sue. But -- I went with my heart. Stoopid, stoopid heart...

She didn't have a chance in Thailand after the fake merge that fooled everyone. Had it been a real merge, as every player thought it was, she would have switched alliances and could have gone far.I loved Shi Ann this season. She played UTR, but she did it conciously. She knew exactly what she was doing, letting Kathy take the bullets with the other power players. When playing UTR became impossible, she played and played hard. She did everything she could to save herself and shake things up. And to top it all off, she wasn't bitter about her ouster, and called all the cry babies (Lex, Kathy, Alicia) on their bad sportsmanship at the final TC. She is one class act. Shi Ann, you won't win the second million, but you get my vote. Well done.

35. "RE: Second Million Winner" |
I think Richard Hatch should win the second million. Why? Because he, along with Mark Burnett, invented the game of Survivor. His part in that alone should deserve him to win an extra million bucks --- MB has made plenty off Survivor, but the man responsible in season one for inventing/strategizing HOW to play the game only won 1 mil, plus whatever he could make off his name after that. Think about it. If Richard had not been on Survivor 1, how long would it have taken someone else to realize the way to play the game? Who would it have been?? The Pagong tribe never thought of it on their own --- it took them at least two TC's after the merge to get any sort of a clue as to what was going on. They were actually voting off contestants based on work ethic. lol. In Australia, contestants said later that the production crew had a difficult time editing strategy sessions at times because they spent so much time talking about Richard Hatch and alliances and they didn't want that footage to air in S2. So if not given the direct blueprint, would they have figured out what to do as down-the-line as Richard did? So give it to Richard. He helped create the game of Survivor just as much as MB did.

If you don't vote for him cause his fiancee already has a million then you are no better than the Lexs and Toms of the world who are just bitter losers. Without a doubt, RobM played the greatest game of Surivvor in the history of the game.
Look at the facts....... First, he dominated and carried his tribe through the entire first part of the show.
He orchestrated alliances with all the key people. He eliminated his most dangerous competitors (RobC, Lex, Kathy) the first chance he had. He even got a rival tribe to vote out one of its own on his behalf. He flaunted his F2 alliance in everyone's face and no one had the guts to do anything about it. And, to top it all off, he pulled off the best move of all last night when he outwitted Mark Burnett by figuring out a way to LEGALLY conspire to share the money BEFORE the final votes were read, thereby making the final jury null and void. Brilliant! I don't even vote for President in this country, but you better believe I'll be voting all week long for Rob.

And why would anyone vote for someone who wasted two days of the tribe's energy by insisting on (and pouting and demanding) forcing them to dig a hole to sleep in on the beech? God's sake - talk about stupid! He should've been voted off then and there.

I'm sure even the people that have only sent him spam will be inundated with "Rob C. for the million." Cesternino is one of my favorite people ever to play the game. MB giving him a million would almost make up for Jenna M. winning Survivor: Amazon. ALMOST. He had no face-time on the reunion show last night as well as a poor showing in A$S, though, so his odds for winning the million are not very good. Not to mention a little thing called Rupert, which puts his odds for winning at almost nil. Promising to give half to Rupert was clever, but ultimately futile. Still, Rob Cesternino has my vote! I would LOVE to see him win on Thursday. ~*~Andromeda~*~ ETA: In the true spirit of campaining for the million, Cesternino pleads for your vote on his official website! Ever the player, Cesternino is out there strategizing to try to win the prize, rather than just let other parties control his destiny. I greatly enjoyed his expression of abject dismay upon realizing that his name was going to be called most often at his Tribal Council; he knew he was being booted early because the whole lot of them feared he was going to beat them, which to me says that the All-Stars know just how dangerous he was. I was sorry that he had his hooks hacked off prospectively, before he could get them sunk into anyone. For his overarching strategic capabilities, despite the fact that he didn't have a chance to demostrate them this time, he gets a vote from me.Rob Mariano played masterfully this season, without a doubt. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his performance, from his abs to his aggression, from his accent to his athleticism. For playing the most dominating All-Star game overall, he gets a vote from me. Rupert simply pleases me for some reason that I can't put my finger on, because I am usually quite averse to people whom I'd characterize as emotional rather than logical. However, I have found Rupert highly entertaining to watch in the game of Survivor, and his participation has greatly augmented my enjoyment of the show. For his contribution to my delight, he gets a vote from me. At this point, I honestly couldn't tell you which of the three will get the deciding additional vote from me. I am truly torn.

>It damn near broke my heart >when he lost the first >one... ....not as much as it broke Stacey Stillman's heart the first time Rudy should've lost, but didn't. The only reason Rudy is anything more than a Survivor footnote is cause Burnett rigged S1 in his favor. And, with 6 member tribes on Allstars he had no business being in this game and is the #1 reason his tribe started out losing the first two IC's.
Rudy = LEAST. DESERVING. ALLSTAR. EVER.

Alright, I know there is a thread on transcripts of INSIDER editions and it's all there, but I thought I should post this here.18 of them, actually 17, all talked crap to give them a million and let's go through them briefly. Very briefly! Alicia : I'm tough, strong and straight! Give me money cause I'm honeset. I know I lost to Shii Ann in many challenges but I'm still strong. Amber : Give me a second one. I need more for marriage. Robfaddah is greedy. He won't be happy with just one! Colby : I think you should give it to me cause I lost in the OUTBACK. I was a dumbass to take Tina to the final but I knew I would get this chance, so give it to me! Ethan : Believe me, I'm not gonna use it for myself. Not a single cent. So choose me! Jenna L : I need it for my kids. Oh~ By the way i think Rupert deserves it. Give it to him. Forget my kids. I'm sure he'll share some with me as I am pleading you guys, even after backstabbing I did to him! Jenna M : Rob C asked me to say to give it to him, but that's nonsense! Ummh.. Give it to me cause I need money to cure my mom! For the second time. The first million was not enough. Jerri ELECTED NOT TO PARTICIPATE - Great Choice! Kathy : I was robbed the first time and I was Rawbbed this time. Please let me get through this! Lex : I playes with my heart. That's why I voted Colby, Ethan and Jerri off. I played the best but I was booed when I insulted Rob. I'm sure I heard it wrong. I'm a hypocrite who sees what I want to see. Richard : I'm still the best cause I can strip so well and nice and I brought significant development in TV blurring system. Rob C : I'm the smartest and best player not to win! Am I not pathetic? I know Rupert will win the money anyway, but If you give it to me half will go to him. We both win! Am I not pathetic? Rob M : I played the best game here but I didn't win because of those stupid hypocrites. I got engaged to Amber before the vote tally and I think that was my best move. But I'm still worried cause she can break engagement with me to stay with a million by her own. So give me a million and we can match and I can even go hooking up with Sarah again! Rudy : My kids are taking care of everything. Rupert : I know I'm winning! I will be appreciating you all for voting me cause you guys will get me a million dollars richer. I wish to give my daughter a big present! And that will be a million dollars. Shii Ann : Wow! Amber just gave me a car and that blew the chance to win a million! Though the chance was lower than 1 %. Susan : If you guys don't vote for me, I'll take you all to the doctor who did me the surgery! And as you know, he's damn expensive but changed nothing out of me! Tina : I was the first on out, so I don't deserve it! I wasn't the one to win the OUTBACK! But I did. So vote for some one that you want! Tom : Thanks a lot for listening to my nonsense and never understandable accents for the longest time! You should vote for me cause I was cheated by Rob and he insulted my son! Truthfully, I can't cast my vote! It's nonsense to cast my vote to these bunch of ALL-LOSERS! Why not vote for those who didn't participated in the ALL-LOSERS game who really should have been in the game and should have won?

1 Mariano 1 undecided between Mariano, Cesternino, and BonehamI know Rupert is going to get the vote of a great deal of people and will probably take this prize as the consistent front runner in the CBS "favourite" poll, but it looks a lot like Rob M. could give him a run for his money. Which would be a pleasing result overall, in my view. If the prize is going to the "favourite" of the Average Viewer, rather than the "most deserving" as judged by people like us who study the game, then I'm glad that Rupert will get rewarded for his popularity rating. For me, he has contributed a lot to the viewability of the two most recent seasons. And then I'd like to think that second place would be filled by someone our community and like-minded people everywhere can more or less agree is deserving based on gamesmanship. I still think overall it's going to be a simple popularity vote, though, and on that basis I would see Rudy coming in second.

JERRI IS CLEARLY MORE OF A SURVIVOR THAN RUPERT (AT LEAST SHE WOULD HAVE A SHELTER AND BE ABLE TO SLEEP) Vote Amber becuase she played the best game. we know that because she won and no one should be able to get a free million if they lost so amber gets my vote. Rob- clearly played teh best game Shii Ann- deserves it moooooore than anyone last mogo mogo Kathy- i think she was teh only person to ever play this game (exept Gretchen) who knew how to "survive" and the game is called Survivor so she should win for that

155. "Voting Rupert" |
LAST EDITED ON 05-12-04 AT 02:59 AM (EST)I agree Rob played one hell of a game. But it was one that was flawed and the reason he didn't win. He didn't have to take the VERY low road. He created an anti-Rob jury. He took things to the extreme when it wasn't needed. He shook Tom's hand just an hour before he voted him off. By doing that, he sealed his fate with Tom. He also could have been straightforward with Tom, letting him know he also had an alliance with Rupert and Jenna and was going with them. He knew Rupert and Jenna were solid, so why insult Tom just before TC with the handshake? Honesty could have also turned Tom's vote to him. I know this was Rob's season, but he made some serious errors and I am not convinced he played the BEST. I think Amber played the best. But she already got her million. Some say she did well because of Rob, but that is a two way street. Rob did so well because of Amber. Despite the basement in the sand, Rupert did play a very good game and took the high road. He adapted his strategy from Pearl Islands and played UTR to work with Saboga, and to mix in with Chapera. I believe he threw the hold your breath challenge because he knew he wasn't a target, and didn't want to seem as much of a Challenge threat as in PI. When down to 5 players, he didn't try to sway Tom, knowing that it would probably backfire. And, I know you spoilers out there don't like to credit the worker or provider. But Rupert was a big reason why Chapera did well (after he joined them) in challenges. He set the stage for Rob to dominate in challenges. They became a powerhouse because of Rupert. It appears that Rupert promised Rob that he would vote for Rob to win. It seems likely to me that this promise occured when at the F5. Numbers-wise it would have made much more sense to vote off Rupert and break up he and Jenna. Therefore ensuring that Rob and Amber would be F2. Instead, Rupert made a shrewd move and promised his final vote for Rob, if Tom got booted first. This was risky for Rob, as a 2-2 tie could have happened (and should have if you ask me). AND, it ensured that Tom would not give Rob his final vote, and this one vote could have made him a millionaire. So Rupert proved to be very savy to get to the final four. Yes he didn't go further than the F4, but that wasn't due to Rob's great game play, but rather a woman who had delusions of grandure of winning the final immunity challenge. Why do you think that Amber, Rob, Tom and Jenna all talked about that they couldn't beat Rupert in the F2? Because they knew he played a good game and had the respect of the jury. And I doubt that is because they all thought he was a nice guy. Finally, Rupert has made a difference to the Show of Survivor. His character in the Pearl Islands made that season, and brought many more new viewers and old fans in to watch that season. And he brought those viewers with him to All-Stars My vote is for Rupert. Edited to add two paragraphs.

It seems to me that there are primarily two kinds of players and viewers. One group feels strategy and good game play can include deception as part of "outwitting" opponents and the other group does not.Hatch made the statement during the reunion show that if you're playing poker against your friend, you're going to do whatever you can to come out victorious because you're playing to win. He is clearly in the first group. I am not. Whether I am playing poker, Monopoly or Survivor, I feel I am playing it within the context of my life. I would no more steal my opponent's Monopoly money when they were looking than I would do some of the things Survivor contestants have done to one another. There is no difference to me in conducting myself with what I feel is integrity (meaning integrated--behaving consistently regardless of the situation) within a game and outside a game. Because of this and many of the reasons Bent stated, Rupert gets my vote. EMT

I got the feeling that in a weird sort of way Rupert didn't really want to win All Stars after a certain point.I think Rupert really liked the way he played in PI. He was the powerhouse, take-charge guy there, and I think that approach to competition comes naturally to Rupert. In A$$, he had the disadvantage of not enough recovery time between games, so he wasn't at his physical best. And the disastrous shelter he built made him realize he wasn't going to be seen as perfect. He was smart enough to lay low once he got to Chapera and let Rob continue to rule the roost, but I don't think Rupert is comfortable in that type of situation. I sensed that on some level Rupert ultimately thought Rob really deserved to win instead of him, and that is why he was less than gung-ho about strategizing to get Rob out, and instead threw support behind Rob in the endgame. I think Rupert would have been a lot happier winning S7 because he much prefers the way he played in that installment.

Well said, BR. Rupert also said he had alot more fun on ##### though. Clearly he did not have fun until he came to the Happy Chappy Tribe. And who is largely responsible for the Happy Chappy's being happy???? ROB! Not only was Rob an awesome player but as Rupert and Kathy both noted, he was having a ball! He liked to have fun, as noted with the mock tribal council at Chappy, he liked to sing, and he liked to tease. He made life on a deserted island fun. And it sure was fun winning all of those challenges...Rob certainly was the major contributor for that as well. I just think that this whole game, in every aspect was thanks to Rob. Unfortunately, a few bad apples on the jury were just petty, selfish, jealous, spoil sports who could'nt see giving it to the guy who really deserved it. Amber would have been no where near the end game if it had'nt been for Rob. I just think that this contest is a serious popularity contest. But, the instructions said, vote for the ##### that WAS the most deserving to win. I don't think any of the early boots were the most deserving of ##### to win a million, much as I like some of them, Cesternino and Hatch especially. The far most DESERVING player to win was indeed ROB.

Brownroach, Flower Power and others,I understand and respect your points of view. I really do agree that Rob played a great game, although flawed, which is why he lost. I thought long and hard to come to my conclusion after reading many posts in this thread. To address some comments. #1, I don't think Rupert gave up, nor thought that Rob deserved to win over him. I never saw that in his demeanor, or implied in his interviews. As a huge man, he was definately the underdog in the final 4 immunity, and came in 2nd. Obviously trying very hard. Rob and Jenna were far behind. And through his final Insider video, I never saw a hint he gave up. He was one of the few that was gratefull to have a second chance. In fact, he said was disappointed with himself in PI, and gained a lot with All Stars. Some of his comment had to do with self discovery and how he felt, but also how he played the game. #2, Rob was given a 2nd place edit. MB wants us to think that he was a great player that made some people mad. Isn't it possible that is why we all think Rob played such a great game? (Of course besides the obvious fact that he came in 2nd!) #3, Rob was not the reason that Chappy was happy. It was a tribe dynamic. No one person is responsible. You needed Tom and Rob to play off each other, and Amber to be all happy and laughing to make it work. I think he is being given credit for it because he was the dominant persona as edited by MB, and because he was the leader of the tribe. #4, We saw a lot more strategy sessions with Rob and Amber due to the Romber romance that MB was selling, and due to the fact that Amber was getting the winner edit. Therefore we cannot assume that others did not think through thier alliances and decisions as much as Romber. In fact with Ruperts partner in crime, there had to be TONS of strategy footage we didn't see. Therefore we cannot give Romber the overall assessment that they strategized more and were therefore more worthy winners more than others because of it. #5, I don't think Rupert winning the Million is a slam dunk by any means. Everyone who is a fan of someone else would think Rupert was a favorite and vote for thier person as much as possible (or create some program to gunk up the voting). I doubt Rupert has that, and since he is so popular, his fans won't go out and vote because they would think it is in the bag. We all interpret the show differently due to our filters developed in our own lives. My filter showed me Rupert deserves the Million, your's and others showed Rob.
I want to say Thanks to the folks that liked my first Rupert post! It seemed that an analysis of Rupert's play was needed due to all of the negative Rupert posts.

GB, I sure agree with you in that I never thought Rupert gave up either. I'm definately a Rupert fan, but I feel that due to his loyalty Rupert just does'nt have the ability, really to blindside/BETRAY anyone that he has given his word to. He did gain alot of self awareness through it all, and I think that was indeed very positive. I like the self assured man that he is now, far more over the insecure, possessive, dictator that he had been. I think above all that Rupert had a respect for Rob's game, and Rob played Rupert well. Making a pact with them for F4 and sticking to it, cements it for Rupert.Rupert's plan was a perfectly viable one as well. Get to F4 with your alliance and than take charge of your destiny with hopeful immunity wins. Rupert tryed his best, but fell short. Indeed it would have been a different game had Rupert beaten Amber.... I think one of the appealing things about Rupert is that he is a "hippy like" type that is not Joe Average. He gives all of the underdogs in the world something to aspire to, yes, you to have a shot at winning it big. Just to let you know, if Rob can't get the million he deserves, my second choice would be Rupert!

Get Bent and Fp --I didn't say that Rupert gave up, and I don't think he did. I'm sure he was trying, to the very end. But Rupert's idea of Survivor is that it should be a meritocracy. That's the way he wanted to win S7. And I think that's the way he hoped to win A$$. But I also think on some level he didn't feel that he had done his best this time. He didn't lead his original team to challenge wins; in fact they were dissolved because of his poor raft design. Not to mention the shelter debacle. He saw what a well-oiled challenge machine Chapera was early on under Rob -- not unlike Rupert's unstoppable Drake tribe in PI. Then when he got to the Chapera camp he saw the kickass shelter that Rob built. Rob was in the position that Rupert would have liked to be in at that point; I'm sure this was not lost on Rupert. So all I'm saying is, I think somewhere in the back of his mind Rupert felt that Rob was really doing the best all-around job at the game, and that may have colored his perception. At Final 4, he had no choice but to vote for Rob and I'm sure he hoped that Rob would leave and he'd get to stick around. But I don't think Rupert was upset with the way it worked out, for the reasons above.

Ooops, I interpreted your comment as gave up.I do agree, if I was Rupert, and was the powerhouse and reason Drake did so well in PI, it would be disappointing to fail so much at the beggining of All Stars. However, in Rupert's interviews, he says he came out in a much better place after All Stars. So I don't think it bothered him as much as we might think. I guess my Rupert points really center around the fact that Luck does play a part in Survivor. Rupert got a bad draw on the F4 IC (similar to Tom's luck with the word jumble!). If Rupert or Jenna (yeah right) had won the F4 IC, we would be seeing a lot of different editing, and seeing a lot more of why Rupert or Jenna should win. Instead it was edited to meet the final outcome.
He and Jenna really were in a great position in the end. They had alligned themselves with two people that others would not want to win. They did not backstab anyone on the jury. They did not talk / fake alliances with others. I think they did play a couples UTR strategy, but since they are strong personalities, I don't think the jury would have thought them as UTR players. I do think you can be true to yourself and your alliances and not backstab to make it to the end. Rupert's mistake in PI was to let everyone know where they stood and what place they would take. And the Johnny Fairplay fight. He set himself up for a downfall. I also think it was great that someone (ROB) dominated the entire seasons outward strategy and challenges and made it to the final two. And he was also the main charater and leader. I still think he made some errors that cost him the million, and he played a really low game that wasn't needed to get him as far as he did. But I understand why you and FP think he does deserve the 2nd chance million. He was my first choice until I did my little analysis, and now he is my close 2nd place person for a vote!! I think Rob has a decent chance of winning tonight. I wouldn't mind if he wins it. He took all the bullets for Amber. But I still want Rupert to win!!

My vote is for Rupert. (IMHO) He deserves it for being the only Survivor ever to compete back to back. He had like 2 months between shows. Rupert did great this season. MB should pay him a million for being stuck on an island with Jenna L and Jerri LOL. F4 IC, he and Amber were neck and neck. If he had just won that, who knows who the Sole Survivor would be. He made it that close to winning, with integrity, didn't have to resort to JFP or BR tactics. He was on his way to winning on PI until the Outcast fiasco. Maybe MB realized how dumb it was, and this way he can give Rupert the $$$ that he probably would've won.

168. "RE: Second Million Winner" |
I never count the chickens til the last hatch with these voting things. Rupert is heavily the favorite in all these popularity polls, but I have seen it before that voters think they don't have to bother because so and so has it in the bag. It has already been noted on this board that alot of Rupert fans are average viewers. Will they keep voting over a several day period?

with all due respect, of course.Do you really think it matters who you vote for? Did it occur to you to wonder why you can vote as much as you want? No accountability means, well no accountability. While I'm sure public opinion will have some sway over the second winner, I'm also sure MB will be assigning CBS interns to vote all day on Thursday if the vote isn't going to his liking. But it is an interesting discussion. Okay, I'll go back to my lurking hole now.

Voting closes at 11:59 PM Eastern tonight. Multiple voting is possible because families watch Survivor, limiting the voting would amount to shutting out a sizeable portion of the fanbase from participation. That doesn't mean, however, that suspicious multiple votes coming from single sources couldn't be identified and discounted.

172. "The poll question on the CBS website..." |
...has changed. At first (before last Sunday's reunion) I seem to recall the question asking, "Who is your favourite All-Star?" Between Sunday and some time last night, the question was, I think, "Which All-Star most deserved to win the million?" And now it is "Who do you want to win the million dollars?" I don't know if these are three different polls, or if it's all the same poll with the question phrased differently, but I thought it a bit odd because the second iteration of the question is really a very different one. It speaks to issues of gamesmanship, not just fan-favouriteness. I wonder what is going on back there.

LAST EDITED ON 05-12-04 AT 04:22 PM (EST)If you want to beat him at his own game, go to his site and go to View Source. Look at the code and if you change the value of "q1" in the following line. "http://survivor.poll.cbs.com/poll?event_id=375&q1=11" 11 is for Rob 14 is Rupert You can find all these values if you view the source on cbs.com then save the file as an html file on your own computer and then run it. It will run and open a box to vote for whoever you decide to vote for. Enjoy.

179. "Revealing the Votes" |
From Charlie the Big Dog at Suckshttp://p085.ezboard.com/fsurvivorsucksfrm2.showMessage?topicID=17830.topic I just saw on E! News that the results should go something like this. Jeff will have the voting jar with him. He will pull out the names of the Survivors in order from lowest total votes to greatest total votes. So everyone will know exactly where they fall. When it gets down to the final two, the name on the last vote will annouce the winner of the bonus million. The actual eliminations might go on throughout the show. Intresting. Not sure if this is legit BUt it sure is an interesting way to do it!!! Poor jerri and LEX emydi

202. "Rob not the Mastermind we Thought" |
After reading the final four web chats, it became evident to me just how much editing plays into this. We all thought (me too) that Rob was behind all decisions and played everyone. He was even given an episode "The Instigator" to show what a great player he was. We have to remember that this is what MB wanted us to see, to justify his F2 position. It turns out that Jenna instigated two crucial things that got she and Rupert to the F4. She instigated the big fight with Kathy after Lex was booted. I am sure she did this to prevent Rob teaming up with his good friend. Jenna was also reponsible for putting doubts in the minds of Romber about Tom. She started a Lie to Rupert that Tom approached her to get rid of Rob. Encouraged Rupert to talk to Rob about it. That is when Rob "instigated" the fight between Tom and Rupert. This manipulation by Jenna is what changed their minds about keeping Tom, which would have been a better choice to ensure a F2 position. Rupert's chat showed that he thought he was an important reason why Tom was voted off (no details given) and that Rupert was the one who approached Rob that he should NOT keep his word to Lex. So Rob and Amber were played, just like everyone. The editing was set up to make us believe that Rob was in control the entire time, when he wasn't. What he emulates as a person made us easily believe he was in control. Get Bent (sig pic removed on purpose due to length of thread)

203. "RE: Rob not the Mastermind we Thought" |
Well now, GB, let's not be too hasty.Rupert was the one who approached Rob that he should NOT keep his word to Lex. I don't see how you're getting this from Rupert's chat. It's possible, since we do know that there were a lot of conversations going on before the Lex boot TC, but in the end the decision was in Rob's hands. I don't think Rupert convinced Rob to do anything he didn't already want to do. And even if Jenna did instigate a couple of "scenes" because she thought it would put herself in a better position, both Jenna and Rupert were deferring to their alliance with Ramber and hoping Rob would keep them around instead of fill-in-the-blank at any given point. So they certainly weren't "playing" anyone in a manner that gave them power equal to Ramber's.
