The thing with both of these theaters is that they have become launching pads for Broadway musicals, which is a good thing.

Modern Millie won the Tony for Best Musical this year and I saw it at the Playhouse where it had its world premiere.

The year before it was Full Monty at the Old Globe.

I would love to see Old Globe do something along the lines of the Sondheim tribute that Kennedy Center is doing in Washington, but I doubt it will happen.
