Just ask yourself: What Would Simon do??? (or Paula, Randy)Not a very strong showing tonight. Very bland. Most played it "safe" with boring ballads and yet they still couldn't get it right. Managerr - you called it. Nevertheless, I think we had 3 good possibilities: 1. Lisa - Loved her from the audition. A strong, black woman trapped in a young white girl body. 2. Camile - soft tonight, but showing a softer side. Adorable. 3. Matt - not his best tonight. But still, my Velvet Running Back. Kara - girl, you are not an R&B singer. try another style. .... (a white girl trapped in a white girl body) Noel - more nervous than Colby at nightfall on mogo Mogo. sad. Jesus - adorable, but shaky also. pretty voice. shame. Bri - not enough "umph" to play ball with the Pros. Marisa - good, but too much "coyote ugly". And I love Camile for acknowledging to the world, that Simon is indeed SEXY AF Nurse, bring me my meds now, please.

1. Lisa--honey, don't bare the midriff anymore. That was NOT flattering!2. Matt--the attitude is wearing thin. 3. Camille--Love of God, someone get her some makeup, PLEASE!! 4. Marissa--her stance WAS awful. The rest: OMG! The brother sucked HUGE! How on EARTH did they make the cuts? They were horrid. Bri as soon as I heard the Norah Jones song, I knew she she was screwed. Kara sounded like she had something stuck in her throat. Miscellaneous Ramblings --that just didn't do it for me at all

Yes!!! Camille needs a make over!!! She needs a hair style, and make up and she needs to go shopping. And Marissa should practice standing lady like! Her stance was similiar to a football stance...I am happy Randy pointed it out to her and hopefully she will correct it.

1. Camille--Best of the night, but last week's Top 3 sang better.2. Lisa--Good, but get a longer top. 3. Marisa--Not bad, but since she wasn't into it, neither was I. 4. Matt--I thought he was as bland as dry toast. His crack about wanting to make Simon's head bleed should kill any chances of him advancing. The rest sucked beyond comment. Matt - missed his song, but sounded good on the clip at the end 6. Kara - missed her song, but DIDN'T sound good on the clip at the end 7/8 Noel/Jesus - does it shock anyone that they sucked so much this time after sucking so much the first time? they never should have been here, i don't know what the judges were smoking on that show to let them through. we could have had Army girl

LAST EDITED ON 02-17-04 AT 10:05 PM (EST)I think Lisa and Camille were definitely the best. Marisa's attitude was just terrible-- enough to keep her out of the finals. She seemed very full of herself. She calls it confidence, but you have to at least sound good for cockiness to be considered confidence. She won't make the top two tomorrow, unless Americans feel the way Simon does about a few extra pounds and decide to punish Lisa. Lisa and Camille all the way-- at least until next week when their performances get blown to bits (hopefully!) I'm willing to give them both another chance when the slate is cleared and the finals begin-- the others from tonight? not so much. (Though I do like something about Briana's personality, her performance just wasn't good enough.) EDITED TO CHANGE what was "goo enough" to "good enough : )

1. Camille -- Maybe not the best performance for her, but I do lover her unique voice and general demeanor.2. Lisa -- Stood out, but she would have been non-memorable in Group 1. 3. Matt -- Boring song and boring performance, but at least he hit all the right notes. 4. Marisa -- Her voice is too soft for me, but she did the best she could with her song choice. 5. Kara -- I thought she had some potential but chose a bad song. 6. Bri -- Cringeworthy. Nice girl, awful song. 7. Jesus & Noel -- The judges were chastising themselves about their picks for the Top 32? I want to know what they possibly saw in Jesus and Noel. They forgot their words too many times, it looked like they were a disaster in Hollywood. Ugh ugh ugh.

I liked Matt and Lisa. How they preferred the out-of-tune bros to Scooter Girl is beyond me. I'm not voting this year due to the corrupt voting system and what it did to Clay. It is more a reflection on the judges than the singers that they let people in who cannot carry a tune. What did they have 70,000 people to pick from? Certainly a few wild card picks from Group One. The groups should be more even. Weren't Clay, Ruben, and Kim L. all in the same group last season?

Gawd awful.Who picked those songs?? Who dressed these people? I understand wanting to show you can do more, but not in this round! You have to play your strength right here, and make America love you! Matt... Don't you know any MeatLoaf songs? And do you own any clothes that don't look like Beer Night? Bri... Norah Jones? Uh, no. You have an edgy look, and a good voice. You threw it away trying to be someone else. Kara... oke. Marisa... good song, little too aggressive. Your defensive lineman stance was good enough for the Rose Bowl. Camile... too terrified to show what she can do. She will be in the finals, either through a vote or a judge's wild-card selection. But she wasn't there last night. Lisa... voice was OK, song was OK, looks terrible. Dress to hide the extra 50 pounds, and get your teeth fixed. Hideous and frightening, unless you were behind the couch. Jesus and Noel... you owe 70,000 apologies. Start with Willy Hung. Who will move on? Lisa and Marisa by vote, Camille by wild card. If Camile gets voted in, there are no wild cards in this bunch.
Blecch! Can we have last week's group back? Suddenly, Katie Webber's "Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am" jazz tune looks ready for the finals. And Fantasia and Diana eat this group for lunch.

Ye gods! That was painful! We went from several great voices (Group 1) to this?!?! Song choices were overall very weak and not upbeat enough for me. Save the ballad stuff for later. My picks: Matt and Lisa. They were the only ones who could actually carry a tune. My predictions: Lisa and Camille. I didn't care for Camille at all; I thought she had a very weak voice. But she is cute, and in this group, that's probably all that's needed. Bri, I was really wanting to like based on the auditions. I thought the song choice was poor; she sped it up too much. Kara and Marisa were just dreadful. So were Jesus and Noel. My God! And they passed on Scooter Girl and "Unchained Melody" guy for this lot??? And to think, we could have had Jennifer, Marque, Katie(?) or anyone from Group 1 in this group, and any one of them would have blown these guys out of the water. Doesn't quite seem fair. How do they determine the groups? Are they random or seeded somehow?

1. Lisa - Hey, I like the gappy-toothedness, and she rocked that song. I like how she doesn't feel pressured to change the way she looks at all. Rock on.2. Camille - I agree with the judges, and wish she'd done something a little hip-hoppier. Wow, I'm just inventing words left right and centre tonight. Yeah, I love her voice though. 3. Marisa - Ehh. Started off shakey, better near the end, but lookit what she's up against.
4. Man... I dunno... Matt? Hated his song, hated his arrogance. OMG, he forgot to mention the Rose Bowl! Now nobody's going to vote for him! I wish. Betcha he makes it to the final 12. He shouldn't though.
5. Bri - Why Norah Jones? Come on. No good. 6. Kara - Didn't have the voice or attitude to pull off the song. Points for the sinus infection banter though. The brothers - I was so embarassed for these two. Good lord.

LAST EDITED ON 02-18-04 AT 01:18 AM (EST)Nope, wouldn't vote for any of 'em. The suckiest part was when they showed the clip montage at the end of them all singing a little bit. I think Bri actually was sending a subtle message - hard look, but able to do a soft song. However, I agree that it's too soon in the competition for subtle nuances. I had the show on but after Bri's segment, no one grabbed my attention away from surfing and catching up on reading. It's going to be a really long season if this is a portent of things to come. How much of SImon pouting, whining and squawking about raising bars, bringing game and knocking socks off can we take? I'm not looking forward to him moaning at contestants every week. Bleak.

None. The judges have only themselves to blame. They let people through this year based on some formula that must reward marginal singing talent that is combined with little personality. I have never seen a duller, less talented group than the eight last night.

LAST EDITED ON 02-18-04 AT 09:37 AM (EST)The last three girls (Lisa, Camille, and Marisa) were ok to tolerable, but the rest were horrendous! And the sad thing is, 6 of the 8 from last week are gone, and all six were better than anyone from Round 2. Editted to echo what Joisey said. These people seem to be looking forward to showing what they can really do in the next round. YOU CAN'T DO THAT!! You have to hit a home run NOW to get to the next round. Then you hit another one to continue on. Folks like these that plan to hit that home run in the next round usually don't get another chance.

My thought of the week: Why couldn't have Matthew from last week been in this group? He would've gotten in for sure. For that matter, so would've Ashley. I was a little prepared for the awfulness that passes as lasts night show when I saw Kelly & Clay on ET, and Clay said "don't expect great things from tonights show." I was very tempted not to vote for any of them, but ended up voting for: Camielle, the girl who sang last (What was her name again?) and Bri. I'm joining the "Bring back William Hung" group. His She-Bang was better then the crap that passed as music last night. A bird's eye view of your A.S.S. RMMW!

What Would Simon do???*puts on the Simon hat* First, I have to say that Group 2's performance was just plain awful as a whole. I've heard better in a karaoke bar during happy hour. There was a noticeable lack of confidence on stage, as though more than half of the contestants came out defeated before they even opened their mouths. You just can't hold back in a competition like AI and you HAVE to believe in yourself to succeed -- at anything. And most of these folks just didn't. Contrary to popular opinion, I actually thought Briana did a good job with the Norah Jones song. I'm a fan of NJ and was actually surprised that someone as rough-cut as Bri looks could pull a sweet melody off like that. Shows versatility that might just get her somewhere, if not the title of AI. She'll probably have to lose the biker-bar-dyke image to get anywhere major though. It's cute but it doesn't sell to the mainstream. Matt did okay. I thought he was better in previous competitions. Style-wise he needs a makeover. He's not a suit-wearin' type but he could key the presence up a few notches. The Roman brothers stunk on ice, unsurprisingly. They never pulled off a song that rocked in the preliminaries, either of them; why should they now? They talked a big act to the interviewers about besting the other in the competition which is what, I think, got them this far. They just didn't have the talent to back it up. It's a shame too as there were several contestants who had more talent and more interesting personalities whom I would've rather seen compete. I think it would've made for a better 2 Group, that's for sure. Man. Hearing both of those guys was painful. Physically painful. I'm still having unsettling flashbacks. Camile I thought showed promise but I don't think she's quite there yet. She's too young, too intimidated by being in front of an audience. Sweet girl though. It was funny Randy was all bent about her not doing the hip-hop thang but I thought she looked nice. Marisa.. Simon said it best: What's with that stance? You could slide a barstool up under her butt and she'd look like she belonged behind the fence with an acoustic at a C&W bar. It was real hard to concentrate on anything but that. I kept wondering if there was something wrong with her shoes or something that was hurting her. The rest of the contestants I found to be decent but uninspired, restrained and... well. Dull. Unmemorable, really, after a night's sleep. Hope it gets better next round. *** "Live every day as if it were your last, because one of these days, it will be." - Jeremy Schwartz

That's what I was trying to say earlier in this thread. Norah Jones is great, Bri is great, and it is great that Bri can sing Norah Jones. But not in this round. You have to embrace your strength and belt one out. I think she confuses people, and nobody wants to vote for someone confusing. Less Jones, more Joplin. These reality show contestants need a reality check!

LAST EDITED ON 02-18-04 AT 12:28 PM (EST)I don't think I have seen such a poor performance than last night. More than half the people sang out of tune and others was just very bland. What were the judges thinking when they brought these people in? I mean they cut a lot of people that were better than these bunch. I also agree that no wildcards spot from these guys who did not make the top two. So out of this group I think the two that would move on is; 1. Lisa - Great souful voice, but needs to keep up on her wardrobe...Midriff does not work with her 2. Camile- I think she has great potential. peace, love and granola.

Last nights show was the most boring group of no talents I've ever witnessed on AI. I wouldn't vote for any of them, they all sucked. The song choices were all abysmal. Why can't any of them understand that to be voted in by the public, they need to choose songs that the public likes and easily recognizes. Every one of the first group was better than this one. What is really annoying is that 2 of these losers will make the finals. UGH! WORST. AI. EVER. *waves to Bebo*

How thrilled was I to come to this board and see that I wasn't having some extremely long nightmare last night. Or that at least if I was that it was collective nightmare and the horror was shared by all. What the heck was that train wreck? I didn't vote for anyone in this group of karaoke bar rejects (I once had a dog that could carry a tune better than the brothers. He was a beagle and could howl up a storm). If you put a gun to my head, I would choose:Lisa - the only one of this group that might have a teeny weeny bit of talent. Now if only someone would take her in hand to show her how to dress and to a good cosmetic dentist. Admired her decision to go with what she feels she does best. Matt - certainly not his best and didn't take well to not doing well, but...he was in tune (a near miracle in this bunch) and I think he does have actual talent. Another one who needs some fashion advice. To me, he has an interesting persona (I know that some vehemently disagree). Camille - a possibility with the voice, but the work needed to get this girl ready to perform in front of large crowds with some sort of self-assurance could take forever. All in all, though, this bunch stunk!

What an awful night. I'm having to go based on personality.1. Camile - definitely the best of the night. I think she's absolutely gorgeous with hardly any makeup, and I like her personality. (nice singing too) 2. Matt - So he didn't do that well. I think he has a lot more potential in the final 12 than Lisa, despite her being good last night. 3. Brianna - ditto Matt. Bad song choice for her, but I'd rather have someone with some personality up there than any of the people ranked below. 4. Lisa - yeah maybe she sang alright. But if you can't show the girl from the waist down, what's the point? (did you notice that? the camera's never shot her torso or below except from faaar away) 5. Marisa - I don't like her look, and I especially hated the stance, it looked like she was squatting to pee 6. Kara - completely forgettable 7. Noel - only because he's slightly better looking 8. Jesus - how did these two get through? we didn't see anything impressive from either of them in Hollywood. If they weren't in as brothers I doubt either one would make it to the top 32. Both of them were painful to listen to, and completely off key. Wow.

I'm a little concerned that on message boards everywhere tons and tons of regular voters say they didn't vote last night. Whenever the vote count is low, the results are always shocking. I am going to cringe if Jesus and Noel end up going through just because the only people who voted was all of their family members.

She needs to use the next two weeks before she comes back to the Top 12 to sing in public as much as possible. Hold impromptu concerts in the waffle house if she has to. The nerves will show on the big stage if she can't get over it, and the judges won't be as nice the next time.
