LAST EDITED ON 11-24-03 AT 01:44 PM (EST)2 weeks ago (the episode where Ryan got voted off), there was a scene that surprised me. I didn't think it was that big a deal, but I noted it because I found it so surprising. Jon had been eliminated from a challenge and Lil gave him a big sympathy hug. It was in the background and not part of the main focus of the scene.
I did not think that these 2 had anything in common. In fact, I would find it difficult to think of 2 players that were any more different from any version of the show. Burton and Lil have some things in common (they were both Outcasts, Lil is a scout leader and Burton was an eagle scout, and generally Burton seems to be an OK guy), but Jon seems to be an obnoxious jerk with nothing in common with Lil and yet there they were doing a little bonding.
Last weeks episode added to fire to that scene. All of a sudden Jon is plotting with Lil to get rid of one of Lil's biggest friends. And at the end of the episode Lil has gone over to the dark side (OK, that is a little strong, but I really don't like Jon) and voting with Jon to get rid of Rupert.
Maybe there is more to this alliance than I originally thought. There are many rumors that a bearded guy and an old woman get to the final 3. Maybe, the key alliance of S7 is Lil-Jon.
