"RE: Simon Simon And now the rest" Wow, I'm totally the opposite, I thought they let too much crappy people through. They let way 117 people into the next round this time, if I remember right, usually it's in the 80's or 90's or so. A lot of the people they passed on were "good" but a lot of it wasn't like "wow". I'm pretty much ambivalent on all the contestants thus far.   Top

"RE: Simon Simon And now the rest" Actually, I think the first Hollywood round had over 230 last season (for some reason, 234 sticks out in my head). One of the few concerns with the show is the ratings drop that occurs in the middle rounds, and they're tweaking the show to try and address that. One of the things they mentioned at the end of the Hawaii show was that there will be more frequent eliminations at this point. But I agree with you that the talent seemed pretty bleah this time. There's only one that stuck out at me as being wonderful. Maybe that will change when we see Monday's show, which is supposed to include some of the judges' favorites. They are letting in way too many crappy people. I cant believe some of the people they let through. But, I think the majority of the top ten from last year and miss clarkson arent so great either. "RE: Simon Simon And now the rest" Julia crashed and burned badly in later rounds, but I thought her initial audition was wonderful. She ranked as the biggest disappointment to me last year. A great example of the stage presence issue, though. Julia did great when singing in a room for 3 people and a camera, but when expected to perform in front of millions of TV viewers, she couldn't bring that same spark. So it doesn't surprise me in the least that the judges would pass on people who can't even light up one little room. Snarky, smart, S7 Anti-Bootee Champ   Top

They did let over 200 people go to Hollywood last year, because they had to cut it first down to like 100 and then 50 or so and then the final 32. I mentioned that to my fiance the other night when they said they were taking 117 to Hollywood that I thought it was much lower then last year. I also thought Julia was a disappointment last year - thought she'd go much further then Kim C did. New sig pic in honor of new DAW level.   Top

Carmen and Julia from last year. Crater face Carmen... no matter how much makeup she put on or what camera angle they put on her, they couldn't hide her acne problem. Julia looked like a crank addict. Neither of them impressed me much. That joshua Gracin dude totally sucked too. Everyone felt sorry for him, because he was going to the middle east. We all had to suffer his horrible singing because of that.   Top

"RE: Simon Simon And now the rest" I totally agree that: "Paula never could sing anyway". Simon is a joke, and Randy is just Randy. They should have new judges each year. Randy, Paula, and Simon are boring anymore. They're beginning to drive eachother crazy. I'm sure they're sick of listening to all of those candidates again and again and again, which makes them judge poorly. Well that's just my opinion. The word of the day is "VOTE"   Top
