"Who will replace Paula?"
LAST EDITED ON 05-05-05 AT 10:01 AM (EST)

Allegations and controversy abound AND she sucks as a judge? I think the writing is on the wall here. So, the question becomes who is going to be the third judge. I would submit the following likely criteria.

1) Peppy
2) Female
3) Attractive
4) Artist/Former artist?

I could be wrong, but I think that the likely direction. The DW threw Deborah Gibson out there and that sounds like as good a place to start as any.

Whaddya think? Who is it going to be? Or will Paula be back?

I don't see them replacing Paula over this, unless the attorneys get their knickers in a twist over it (and they may well). But as someone else mentioned, she did say earlier in the season that she wants to go back to her other career. This is a good out for her, but it may not happen.

2. "RE: Who will replace Paula?"
I have to agree that I don't see Paula being replaced this season. But maybe next? I don't think there's enough evidence to verify that these claims are true and basically it's her word against his.

As far as a replacement, I'd like to see someone who would give the show a shot in the arm. Comedienne Sandra Bernhardt (who has done a few music recordings) would give both Simon & Seacrest a run for their money. The female performers who they've had on the past as judges have all been quite lame. Cher would be another good choice since I think she'd be very honest in her appraisals.

Janet Reno. No better way to ensure that no shinnanigans take place next season.

Plus, I understand she played keyboard for the Dead one summer.

And of course I guess you're privy to all the details of this "evidence" Elroy?
I'd hate to be a defendant on trial with you on the jury!

Um, relax.

Elroy's referring to what was shown on TV last night.

And you can bet your behind that ABC's lawyers looked at that stuff before they let Primetime air it.

Hopefully those aren't the same lawyers that CBS used on the Bush National Guard docs.

6. "RE: Ah HA!"
You are suggesting that a) they should try to make the judges entertaining and b) Simon doesn't already fill that role.

That is waaay too good of an idea for Fux.

8. "Cyndi Lauper!!!"
I'll stand by my suggestion in the other thread (http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/cgi-bin/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=419&forum=DCForumID69&omm=0)

Cyndi Lauper -- a buddy of mine has been talking about her taking Paula's place for over a year now.

a talented musician
values individuality
funny
wouldn't take crap from Simon, but I bet she wouldn't cut him off all the time either.

She supposedly had the final concert of her decade-long farewell tour, so she should have plenty of time on her hands.

Personally, I can hardly think of anyone who might be more annoying than Cher...Barbra Streisand maybe? I think that they risk losing audience going with someone who has a strong base of detractors like her.

17. "RE: What about Cher?"
I second Cyndi Lauper. And unlike Paula, Cyndi has real musical talent. She's adept at several instruments as well as being a singer, not just a former Laker girl who can sing. She could provide real critiques, not bubbly nonsense, but do it in an upbeat way.

And, maybe it would give her career the reboost it deserves. I saw her in a mini-concert on Sunday, and she was fabulous! (I also saw her full concert version when she opened for Cher)

Did you hear she was trying out for Mrs. Lovett in Broadway's "Sweeney Todd" revival? But Patti LuPone got the part.

Damn! She deserves top billing. Oh well. She'll be back on top someday soon.
