From the same article at Zap2it that brought us the JP M-----F----- quote, we also have this tidbit:(If this was posted and discussed elsewhere, I apologize. You're offline for a few days and you can never catch up with all the threads!)
The fantastic fib would seem to fit in well with the overall theme of "Pearl Islands," which is piracy. The two tribes are called Drake and Morgan, after two English pirates (Sir Francis Drake and Capt. Henry Morgan) who sacked Spanish forts in the 16th and 17th centuries. Probst says working with that theme helped keep the show fresh for him and the crew this time.
"That was the creative box we worked in," he says. "(We were thinking) what would pirates do, how do we set them adrift, how do we have a mutiny, who can we make walk the plank."
Episode 1 answered the question as to how the Survivors would be set adrift. And we know that next week, a member of the winning RC tribe gets to raid and pillage an item from the losing tribe, fitting in well with the established theme for the season.
But what of this mutiny? A mutiny involves relieving the Capt. of his command at the hands of his subordinates for reasons ranging from cruelty to incompetence to psychological defect. The leader is deposed, tried and either executed or exiled to some uninhabited locale to fend for himself (voted off?). If this is, in fact, one of the pirate elements that will play out this season, how does it happen?
Much was made of the fact that Andrew was asked and accepted the leadership position at Morgan. Jeff reaffirmed this at TC. If I'm Andrew, I'm thinking about rethinking the whole leader thing.
I realize that just because JP said it in an interview, it doesn't mean it's gonna happen. That said, a little speculation never hurt so I'll give it a go...
Ever since the rumor of the BT and a booted Survivor returning to the game, spoilers have been trying to reconcile the fact that the game lasts for 39 days but somehow someone returns, meaning, somewhere along the line, two people need to leave the game in one three day period.
Huge jump...what if both tribes are required to mutiny just before the merge, exiling their "captains", thus clearing the way for a return?
Or, the returnee takes the place of their tribes leader, thus qualifying as a one person mutiny?
Of course, might be nothing but a red herring, throw away line from JP. Not like we've seen anything like that before, huh?
