LAST EDITED ON 10-27-13 AT 04:35 PM (EST)

Lou Reed dies of liver problems

Definitely one of the most influential musicians around, too many songs to name a favourite, but the one that I remember most from my childhood was Walk on the Wildside

Lovely cheese Mooney

Where are Voice of the Beehive when we need them?

RIP Lou Reed.

His songs were like musical heroin. Addictive. They altered reality, the pace of time slowed.

Brilliant lyricist and artist.

One of my favorites is All Tomorrow's Parties (w/Nico).

An observation. Among people I've known, most of the Lou Reed fans were from New York, rather than Los Angeles.

He was a signature New York artist. I'm not surprised that most Californians wouldn't care for him. I wasn't a huge fan myself, but this did bum me out. RIP.

Certainly new Walk on the Wild Side in my youth. This week I heard Rock & Roll on a couple of radio stations. I can't say I was too familiar with The Velvet Underground, but this song strikes me as something that is still cool and relevant.

RIP Lou. Thanks for taking us on your walk down here.

Four of the five songs on Reed's smash hit Rock & Roll Animal album were originally Velvet Underground songs: "Sweet Jane", "Heroin", "White Light/White Heat", and "Rock and Roll".
