LAST EDITED ON 11-21-08 AT 09:50 AM (EST)Nick/Starr = Money?Yeah, they are. They finished another leg in first place, and Andrew/Dan continued to flounder around and show they should've been eliminated at least five weeks ago. Terence/Sarah were eliminated, though, which officially makes Dandrew the worst team ever to make the Final 4. In any other season, they wouldn't have finished better than 8th. Week 8 Results 1st place - Nick/Starr (2x) 2nd place - Toni/Dallas (1.5x) 3rd place - Ken/Tina (even) 4th place - Andrew/Dan (.5x) 5th place - Terence/Sarah (0x) Mini Week ResultsOverall, it was a pretty solid week for most players due to the predictable results. Terence/Sarah knocked out some big gains for a few players, however, so it wasn't a complete loss. Also, even though we had server problems and I declared mini-week, all of the players submitted an entry. So maybe my worries weren't justified after all. Unfortunately, Mini-Week did claim one player's remaining points, Silver03. Terence/Sarah's cheery confessionals in the previews were probably the main cause of it. Silver03 played a great season, grabbing a couple weekly awards, and it's sad to see 'em go. There were so many perfect bets, it's hard to give out just one Perfect Bet Award. But I'm doing it anyway, and showing some love to ohmyheck and popeave IanQuentin for doubling their points with a Nick/Starr wager. Nice job, you too. Not much shuffling in mini-week, so picking a Greatest Gainer Award is somewhat arbitrary. The most ranks anyone gained was 3 this week, so I'll award this week's to Higgs for moving from #15 to #12, getting closer to the Top 10. Leaderboard 1. Week 9 Payout Table 1st place - 2x 2nd place - 1.8x 3rd place - .2x 4th place - 0x Max Individual Bet - 220 points This week's table is called "Mega Week." After such a quiet past week for scoring, it's time to shake things up radically. Bonus Game - Time is of the essence! This bonus game's concept is credited to Mr. 2nd Place himself, michel, who came up with the core idea in last year's Results thread. In this game, if you choose to play, you're trying to guess the amount of time separating the departure of the 1st place team and the last place (4th) team. In other words, how big of a lead will Nick/Starr have over Andrew/Dan at the start of this leg? The answer will be based on their departure times shown at the beginning of this upcoming episode. Here's how scoring is done. Each player may only have one guess, and that guess costs 6 points to make. Each players' 6-point side wagers will go into a pool. The person who guesses closest picks up the entire pool. So, if every single person plays, the winner will pick up a whopping 234 points. Going into these final weeks, getting this bonus could be huge. Heck, even a 100-point bonus would be big. It could be a real way to pull away from the pack. There's a few rules to it. 1. This is not the "Price is Right." Your guesses may be over the total time. If you guess 3 hours & 40 minutes and the correct answer is 3 hours & 37 minutes, you're off my 3 minutes. It doesn't matter if you're over or under. 2. For a tie-breaker, you can put what time Nick/Starr will depart. Remember to put AM or PM. In the unlikely case of a second tie-breaker, the person who first posted (and didn't edit) their guess wins. 3. If you're going to go for the bonus, you have to make that pick before 6 PM Eastern time on Sunday night. Since the "answers" are shown right away in the episode, I don't want to take a risk with the RTVW clock. If you want to make your regular picks later than that, you could always do two separate posts. 4. Remember to set aside 6 points if you're going to play! So, a sample entry would look like: Bonus - 6 points 3 hours, 40 minutes (3:13 AM) TAR13 Teams Remaining Andrew/Dan Ken/Tina Nick/Starr Toni/Dallas Good luck, everyone! That bonus should be interesting to think about. How long did Nick/Starr take on that Fast Forward... Especially when compared to Dan/Andrew traveling and doing that Detour? Your guess is as good as mine.
